RE: Brother HL-2140 Mono Laser Printer?

I see this printer on sale at Office Depot. I know very little about Mono Laser Printers. This printer only prints in black and white. (It only has a black ink drum in it.) I do not do a lot of photo printing and was just wondering if there was a web page that had some writing in color or some kind of icons in color on it what would the printer do? Would it just print this stuff in black or not print it? What about printing out an airline ticket that has some color printing on it? Just wondering if this one printer would work or must one have a second ink jet printer for anything other than letters? Thanks for any and all help. Gary I have the same printer..what ever is on the page it will print it out in black and white. I printed out Air Tran tickets last week, They scanned fine. Windows 7 has drivers for this printer. I have had it for 3 years and think it's a great printer. in 3 years i'm on my second toner. EDIT Opps..I have the HL-2040, but I'm sure it's the same thing, just 1 model newer.

RE: Recording a streaming video?

Audacity is a free full blown music editor that, among other things, records audio off the internet and saves it as a wav or mp3 file. Audacity can be downloaded at www.sourceforge.net, or simply google audacity for the download page. I tried Audacity before Replay Music because it was free. The sound quality was horrible.

RE: 7" portable LCD TVs?

Thinking about one of these small portable TVs for DD at college. I have only seen them advertised, I have never seen one demonstrated. Anyone have experience with one? Are they worth it? Do they work well? Office depot has them for 99.00 or so. Try it if you don't like it bring it back. I have been eyeing this one up for my home security cameras Looks like it has 4 out of 5 stars http://www.officedepot.com/a/products/244342/Digital-Prism-ATSC-710-7-Portable/

RE: Windows 7 GRRRRRR!

Isn't it cool the way Mocrosoft just keeps on making new versions of Windows and we keep falling for the same old hype about how this one will finally be the "be all end all of" of operating systems. I have had all Windows versions over the years(using XP and Vista now)but will not do #7. Next version for me will be Apple something!!! How many versions does Apple have? A wild guess would be at least 10. Apple does the same hype. If I have OSX and want OSX.6 do I have to pay for it? I don't think this has anything to do with a MAC vs Windows platform. It has to do with either of them and how fast we are to upgade instead of just sitting back and waiting for others to find the problems. Let's not make this into a MAC vs Windows thread. I didn't start it:B

RE: Man Shot in Walmart Parking Lot (rv'er)

More... "HOUSTON (KTRK) -- I don't think having an RV in tow had anything to do with this attempted robbery. The moral to the story is to always be aware of your surroundings. In this particular zip code per the local Police violent crime % has doubled over last years rate, in Robberies and Assaults. ....some people take a lot of cash on vacation

RE: Recording a streaming video?

I want to record music I hear on Youtube and similar sites Like This One. Is there a prefered software or method that you favor? Hi LORNE... I sometime find a video that I want to save and I simply click on the "Email to friend" button at the bottom of the video while it is playing and then type in my email address ....OR.... Sometimes I simply click on the "Save this Video" button that is also located at the bottom of the video while it is playing.. When the "SAVE AS" window pops up, I type in where I want to save it on my computer.. example... "MY MUSIC" or maybe "MY VIDEOS" I have several videos and songs saved on a CD that I ripped from the internet by doing it this way.. John He wants to record the music from the video

RE: Best Free Antivirus Software

On it's first scan, Microsoft Security Essentials found two "suspicious" files it labeled as "moderate" threats. AVG 9.0 had not picked them up. MSE does not seem to be as intrusive as AVG - doesn't seem to slow the computer down as much when scanning. Not normally a Microsoft supporter but so far I am well pleased with MSE Seems like AVG is slowing in popularity...There is always something better coming along. I haven't used AVG for 2 years. It was great when it came out.

RE: Catch with Straighttalk

It seems to good to be true. I one can get unlimited service from Straighttalk and use the Verizon system, why would anyone buy a Verizon plan? There must be some degradation using Straighttalk. Anyone know the truth? I have had it for 26 days and don't have any issues. You have to remember...It's from Walmart

RE: Security camera DVR for home use

I sell and install CCTV equipment to commercial and municipal customers (no residential or out of state). I use either Panasonic (for municipal or banks) or Dedicated Micros for all others. Go to dedicatedmicros.com for info then contact a local dealer if it's what you want. The systems go from 4 camera up to 32 camera depending on the model. Thanks. It's really tough...so many options out there.

RE: Going to Gmail from AOL, any advise

. Gmail has a feature, if you can call it that, that will keep a record of every email address that comes to you. All you have to do is type the first letter or 3 of the desired recipient and you will get a list of everything that matches. Is there a way to turn that off? Thanks

RE: Security camera DVR for home use

If your looking to record while you are traveling, then you should get a mobile type recorder because their hard drives are more stable when being bounced around in a vehicle. This is for home
