RE: Philosophical question, Why do you PUP?

Nope I have no desire to "move up". I love tent camping but I'm just too old to enjoy it like I once did. Therefore upon retirement I purchased my Jayco 10X. I love the very comfortable bed, the real fridge, the heater & the freedom from weather but still like the open window, smell the forest feel. I spend 3 months a year in it wishing it was more.
This pretty much sums up how I feel also. While I understand the attraction to "moving up", personally I do not view it as a move up but rather a different choice.

DELAWARE SEASHORE STATE PARK

Can anyone give me info on the impact of Delaware Indian River Inlet Bridge construction on the Delaware Seashore state park campground.
I am thinking of going there the last week of August and am concerned about the level of noise and dust from the bridge construction. The website said earlier that they were pouring concrete one night from 6pm to 6am.
Any first hand knowledge anyone can give me would be really appreciated.

RE: Overnight at Walmart in a PUP?

The combined Walmart Sam's Club parking lot in Dover, Del. looks like a large campground during Nascar Weekend. I could not even count the number of units there. They had all there camping stuff out in the lot including BBQ, chairs and rugs. Wallking to the store was just like walking thru a campground built on blacktop.

Something to note is that Propane gas smells like rotten eggs.

RE: Beachfront near Virginia Beach

And still another vote HolidayTravL park. It's very large well kept commercial campground with three or four pools and mini golf etc.
It has anything prom tent to premium sites
If you are more interested in state type there is one on the bay.

Hamlin Beach state park is about 20 miles from Rochester on Lake Ontario.
It's a nice state campground

RE: just some random thoughts on camping...

Started with a tent, went to a Popups, then went the hotel and resort route for years. I missed the camping. Went back to the simplicity of tenting. Love camping in a tent except for the weather problems (can also pass on the packing and unpacking). We are now back to a popup and expect that is where I will be while I am still physically cable of work needed to camp. While I can appreciate the convenience of a camper or motorhome, I just Love pure joy of nearly sleeping under the stars that you get with all the windows open in a tent or popup.
