RE: TST TPMS 507 System and valve stem Question

The flow through sensors are about an inch long. The factory wheels on our Duramax have a recess that the stem sits down into, so the side of the stem can rub on the edge of the recess. Metal stems are the fix.

RE: TST TPMS 507 System and valve stem Question

We have the TST-507 with the flow through sensors. We had the rubber valve stems on the TV. We had a valve stem failure coming back from Florida earlier this year. The valve stem wore against the recess in the wheel due to vibration. I had to have a tire company come out and pop in a new rubber stem to get us back on the road.
So, we have changed out the rubber stems for the bolt on metal stems. The RV has the metal stems and we've had no issues with those stems.
The good news was that the TST system alerted to the slow decrease in tire pressure, the bad news was that the sensors caused the leak.
I really like the system, and we've had super service from TST.

RE: Re: Satellite Setup

I have the same setup as you. I too have had on occasion a difficult time getting the 129 sat. to play nicely.
On more than one occasion, I've noticed that the 129 will eventually appear and the 129 programming will be available.
Set the skew for the location, dial in the 110 and 119 and the 129 should show up right away, but if it doesn't, then move ahead and see if it doesn't appear after a delay of several minutes.
We have the western arc LNB's, but we were able to get programming all the way to the Florida Keys, then up to Savannah GA.

RE: Trailer wheel bearings

I pack the left side on even years, and the right side on odd years. I check the brakes and all of the suspension system at the same time.

RE: Keystone RV Customer Service

Thanks for posting this positive report. Too often all we hear are the complaints. We have a Cougar pull behind and we've been very pleased with the RV. We just finished a 12k trip from Washington State to Florida and back.

RE: Campsite near Carlsbad Caverns in NM

A couple of weeks ago we stayed at the Brantley Lakes State Park north of Carlsbad. A really nice park with killer views in every direction. No sewer hookups, but there's a dump station at the park. Was a bit of a drive to get to the caverns but it worked well for us.

RE: After market fuel tank question

I upgraded to the Titan tank in my Duramax, it's so nice to be able to tow all day without stopping for more fuel. Went from 26 gallons to 52 gallon capacity.
My brother has the Chev. 2500 gasser and he's not having much luck finding a replacement tank due to the gasoline emissions regs. If it is possible, someone on this forum has the answer.

RE: I don't think the police let it go

Smooth Move? you're in NaNa land if you think that setup is OK, and safe for the other motorists. Sorry, but the driver of that vehicle is an idiot, and I hope that he got absolutely hammered in fines.

TST-507 TPMS valve stem issue.

We have the TST-507 with the Flow Through sensors. On the RV, the sensors are on metal valve stems. On the tow vehicle the sensors are on short rubber valve stems.
Today we were west bound on I-10 near Palm Springs and the TST alarm sounded. I checked the display, and we had a slow leak detected on the passenger side rear tire of the TV. I grabbed the next off ramp and found a wide spot. Checked the tire and it was indeed going flat, I could hear the air leaking out. It wasn't the tire though, it was the rubber valve stem. It had a cut right at the tire rim, and was losing air.
A local tire company came out and popped in a new rubber stem to get us going. I will be changing out all of the rubber stems for metal stems on the TV ASAP.
We have over 10K miles since November 1st with this system. So there's been a ton of miles on these stems with the sensors mounted. I'm thinking that the stem just became fatigued from too much flexing.
So, the TST system saved us from a very expensive flat tire, but it was the root cause of the failure too.
Just posting this for the good of the forum.

RE: Bypass L.A.

Watching this thread and plotting the routes. We're hunkered down just west of Phoenix waiting for the winter storm to blow through. We will be traveling one of these routes on Thursday. Heading to Portland Oregun.

RE: Maxxis tire nfailure

Please do post back. It will be interesting to see what Maxxis says/does.
5 year old tire with 22,000 miles of 'some bad , rough Interstates.'
Actually, I think that's pretty decent service.
I would agree. Most trailer tire MFRs recomend replacement at 3 years.
xPIX, can you provide some supporting documentation regarding the three year replacement? I'm not calling you out on what you've posted, but I'm curious where you found your facts. Thanks.

RE: Mileage expectations

If you get over 10 MPG, you're ahead of the game. You mileage will depend on the terrain, and speed. But don't be disappointed if its less than 10.

RE: Atlanta GA southbound, I75 or bypass?

We just came through Atlanta N/B on 75, on a weekday mid-day. Turned west onto 20. Traffic was moving at or above the limit even though it was raining.
If I had to go through there again I would take the mainline at off peak hours.

RE: Getting around Houston (US59)

We came through Houston a month or so ago. As you approach the toll booths, pay attention to which toll booth take exact money, and which one will give change. I don't recall what we paid at each booth, but it wasn't as tough as I feared. I'm assuming that you don't have the electronic pass.
If I recall correctly, some of the roads are only electronic pass, or they take a photo of your plate and send you a bill, but they don't have toll booths.

RE: TST 507 Tire Pressure Monitor System Lost memory

My TST-507 stays on when it's plugged into the 12 volt power supply, regardless of the switch position.
I charge it about one a week over night, it's never lost any of the memory settings.

RE: Towing Takena 1865 with water

I don't have any experience with that RV, but knowing the tongue weight, with and without water is a very important component in setting up your RV to tow properly.
It might tow the best with the water tank full. I'd suggest getting the weights is the only way to know for sure.
