RE: If you were to write a camping etiquette book ...

I am still trying to get my head around anyone asking someone else to move, so they could have your site....what? And why would you move, you were there first, and paying for the site...this just boggles my mind. And we are extremely easy going people. We have asked for help once when we need a boost, and have been asked for a hammer or such. Always ready to help in those situations. Even given the occassional onion and ingredient needed by someone.

First get rid of the Holiday not even in the same league as the others, finally layout and price will determine the winner. Newer would be better X2

RE: If you were in my shoes what would you do?

If you will have the loan paid in time to retire... go for it. Well I would hope that I would I'm just 38 with nothing more than a car payment which the company pays for I wish I had woke up and smelt the coffee at 38, I would love to be retiring right now, and if I had started that plan earlier, I would be...don't ever say you are just 38. Plan plan plan, retirement creeps up faster then you think. I would buy a small house, one where the payments on the mortgage, left you money to live a great life style...and then search around when the dust has settled for a small RV to travel, and vacation in, if you want one. Or just ignore everything I said and live your life the way you want to....lol

RE: Consignment Sale Time Frame

May be a silly question, but if you have the title, isn't that needed to register the RV in the new owners name and to get insurance to drive? Perhaps not, I am just asking....I would hate to think if there was an accident that it came back on you, because you still had title. I am not up on these things, (Sally), so I could be way off base.

RE: Sure this has been asked before But....here goes

Did they ever get the guy who killed the Canadian couple and burned their MH? Unsure that news story just kind of faded away.

We do not wish to upset anyone over our question and the way this post has gone, so we thank each and everyone of you for your responses, and I believe we have the answer that we needed. We will be looking into a couple of books and sites that were mentioned. Thank you all again, invaluable amount of information on this site.

You have all been very helpful as usual...I was however thinking of the two legged creatures that might think we have more money then we do, and something they would like. I have a good respect for nature, and would and do take steps where that is conerned. Thanks again

RE: Road Trip / Where have you been this summer!

Other obligations kept us close to home. We spent our time and may spend some more time in and around the Sandbanks, in Picton, Ontario Canada. This is a fav place of ours and have been returning to it for years.

RE: Sure this has been asked before But....here goes

Burwoods, I thought "Pulling off somewhere" was much easier in AK than it was going through Canada. Tell us your route, and may be we can be of more help in places you may enjoy staying. As Joe said, most places with utilities are going to be the "Parking lot" types, which I too hate! Canada, US, Mars, don't much care about where, just was wondering about the security. As for the Route, it is something we are playing by ear, more then likely we will take the Trans Canada Highway most of the way, then we would like to go toward Dawson City Yukon, and along what we know is a hard drive on the Top of the World Highway, entering Alaska and driving down to Anchorage. We will be taking a long look at Alberta and BC while in the area and then down the California coast, where we hope to pick up a cruise to Hawaii. That is the BIG Trip.

We, or should I say I, (the wife) was wondering about the security of just pulling off somewhere. Perhaps I am just being a woman...lol

Sure this has been asked before But....here goes

Dh and I are planning a trip to Alaska, and we have looked at some of the parks online, and we do not want to be completely in the woods, but the ones that we saw, where the RV's are kind of lined up on gravel in a row, did not really float our boat, so to speak. So where do you stay that gives you that mix of a good scenic view, just enough trees/shrubs between sites so that you feel a bit of privacy. It is a long trip and a lot of money, so don't want to make to many mistakes. If it makes a difference in your responses...talking about a Class A. Thanks I will keep searching the site incase I have missed a post like this.

RE: Would I be out of line?

Nothing really bothers us, I can handle kids having a good time, I can handle people talking and laughing around the campfire, I can take just about anything, but the music in the distance that all you can hear is the base over and over again. I can even handle the party that goes way to late, DH and I just pop in the ear plugs....but they don't even take care of that annoying base beat, those darn youngens and their loud music...lol. I say you let him cut his wood, and then go over and say hey I heard you chopping wood forever, could I borrow a bit to start my campfire. Like you can return burnt wood..hehehehehe

RE: unattended dogs left in travel trailer?

It is so hot here right now, that if you left your dogs in your TT or anything else, you may not have them when you return. I guess it depends on the campground, the dogs, and the weather.

RE: Overnight Stays

Boondockers Welcome. It is a website that I joined and offered a bit of my land to pull off the road for the night. It is a great idea that seems to be catching on. This is interesting and will check it out.

RE: Overnight Stays

What are you driving? Looks like you have a tent, according to your profile. You may want the front yard of a church. We still tent with our Grandchildren, they love it and will be doing so in a weeks time for about 4 days, with them 7 on our own. then off to an island where family has a cottage. As for what we drive, we are in negotiation for a winnie. Get the Winnie! You will never go back to a tent.....(Bring it along so the Grandkids have a place to sleep.) Yeah! I can see myself or my wife allowing the grandkids to sleep in a tent on a parking lot! I am afraid I don't understand this post, kids sleeping in a parking lot in a tent?
