RE: I finally plugged in...

Yes, it's interesting how our perspectives change as we add a few years to the calendar. I used to think unkind thought of folks who 'camped' with generators. (I still think some generators are too loud to be used for camping) However, I convinced myself to buy an extremely quiet Honda eu2000i for very occasional use. Now, I don't go anywhere without it... just in case. I may not need AC all the time but it sure is nice to have the option to use it. My MS is starting to limit my traditional camping activities. Having a TT with all the creature comforts of home is allowing me options. Now the search is on to find campgrounds that are both spacious and rural but with power hookups. I have both the time and inclination to enjoy the search.

I finally plugged in...

I'm 60, not new to camping; tenting, small trailers and now a tandem TT. I've always wilderness camped and boondocked. My fridge works great on propane. I have a Honda eu2000i that runs my microwave and charges my 6V batteries. I hadn't used my AC before; my generator can't run it. Last week I wanted to kayak on a certain lake and I stayed at a campground with full hookups; wonderful. It was 90*+ and the AC worked like a charm. You know, I could get used to this. It doesn't quite feel like camping but yes, I could get used to this. It was far more quiet than I expected and I could hear the bird's sing. If I didn't look outside I wouldn't have known there were scores of other RV's there. I think I'll try that again... soon.

RE: Norcold... strange behavior

I would guess you are having a DC grounding issue. A bad ground could cause what you are describing. Makes sense. I'll check it out. Thanks

RE: Norcold... strange behavior

When plugged into shore power I'm using a standard 3 prong extension cord. When using the Honda I'm using an adapter plug to go from the trailers 30amp plug to the 15 amp socket in the generator. I have not seen how the fridge is plugged in inside the trailer.

Norcold... strange behavior

I have a Norcold 2 way that's acting unusual. When plugged into shore power it works flawlessly. When I unplug the shore power it doesn't switch automatically to propane. When I switch manually to propane it doesn't light. When I connect my Honda eu2000i the fridge runs perfectly on AC. When I run the generator for a while and then unplug it the fridge switches to propane no problem and runs for days perfectly. I used my compressor to blow out the burner but that didn't help. I stopped into an RV dealer on my way to camp last week but they were booked up for the next week and couldn't offer any suggestions. Ideas? Thanks

RE: Fridge not working on propane...

When I pulled into camp this afternoon it was 99*...Hot! and no AC. I cranked up the eu2000 Honda and the poor thing has been working it's tail off. I just turned it off for the night, with the fridge hopefully cool enough to last the night and... wouldn't you know it, the fridge started on propane automatically as it should. I still don't know what the problem is but I'll take this resolution for now. Thanks folks. I'll check the things you mentioned when the... darn thing stop again. Barrie

Fridge not working on propane...

Hi folks, I have a 2-way Norcold fridge. It works perfectly on AC or generator but it has been acting up on propane. Last week it wouldn't switch to propane automatically when I unplugged the shore power but I got it to switch to propane by manually switching in to LP. After it started it cycled on and of perfectly all week. I plugged in the shore power last night to pre-cool the fridge for another departure today and I can't get it to fire on propane at all. There's lots of gas and the gas is on. The range works no problem. I stopped by a random dealer on the way to camp but they are booked for the next week... I have no shore power at camp but I can run my eu2000 Honda generator every few hours to keep it cool. Any ideas? Thanks, Barrie
