RE: Tires Tires Tires!

Well you're not able to touch the cost if you turn down the $200.00 price. My self thinks I would prefer a longer lasting tire. I think your giving up alot of good miles that you would get from known better lasting tires.I say go to TireRack.com where you can read actual customer comments on various vehicles, operating conditions & tread life, etc.I selected KUMHO SOLUS there for a Taurus based on quiet running ,ride & tread life comments. They have 45K now & 8/32 tread remaining depth on fast flowing rough roads in Orange cty. metro area. Goodluck with your decision.

RE: f150 ford

4.10/4.30 gear & a Hypertech tuner set for premuim fuel will turn that truck into a TOW BEAST. But it does sound like the power is lower than normal production power. Get it on a rear wheel Dynometer for proof. IMO a 3.55 ratio is a Joke for towing!!!

RE: Anybody rebuild a power tongue jack? PROBLEM SOLVED!

Fairly simple as I recall.Bent the stand tube once & was able to get the parts from the MFG. Don't remember who the MFG was though.

RE: Expedition EL Owners-Towing Comfort

Add a HYPERTECH tuner, fill it up with premuim fuel = one tow beast. Take a look at Hypertech.com.Find the 5.4 Ford 24 valve tuner & check out the torque &horse power potential gains.More power than a 5.7 Dodge hemi & generic 6.0 GM!!. You can never have to much power when towing.

RE: 06-07 Ford F150 vs 06-07 Dodge Ram 1500 tow rating.

Beside the tow rating the axle ratio is the key to having power where you need it. 4.10/4.30/4.56 ratios will just wake up the tow ability to pull right at the max rating. I say nix the Dodge,Ford is superior dependability & the 5.4 24 valve engine with a Hypertec tuner will be plenty of power. Buy the most GVW you can get in the F150. Factory Order a new truck equipped to do the job,not just buy from stock. Axle ratios become about 30% higher when in OD. look up "Skip & Char" posts in the "tow vehicles" for a first hand look at Ford dependability when used towing heavy .Good luck

RE: Take Care of Your Tow Veh in Ca

Don't be so sure that a Ca.light truck registration cost will be multiples of current cost. I hav'nt seen any break down on trucks yet. VLF is a minor part of truck costs. The weight fees determined by GVW at the ground is now the bulk of the total truck fees cost. Motorhomes/automobiles pay VLF by value of the vehicle. These vehicles will see the highest VLF fee increase,IMO.
