RE: jayco winterizing

Also, do not forget your washer dryer hookups if you have them behind a panel in the front closet. In ours these usually trap quite a bit of water. We do both (air and pink) depending on what our plans are. I just blew ours out a couple weekends ago since we plan on using it again this month. I just don't want to deal with the hassle of flushing it in a couple of weeks. I have a small little compressor and I got a few fittings from work that allow me to hook the compressor straight to the hose connection. This allows it to be a one man job. I'm sure you know how things can be a little tougher when your working with the wife. ;) A little pink stuff in the traps and toilet valve and we're all set.

RE: Question About my Dually Tires

Most important. Just go and weigh it in. It doesn't take that long and it provides a basis for good judgement.

RE: Kitchen Sink Problem

Most RV's have a "air check valve" that acts as a vent for plumbing at the fixture. It allows air to enter drain pipe so water can flow, but it will not let tank odor back in to RV. If that is not working right that could be your problem. I would also think that you might have plugged line to tank.I would have to respectfully disagree that the check valve has anything to do with draining the sink. The check valves are installed on all of the tank vents to assist in draining of the tank itself by increasing the air flow displacement into the tank while draining out of the large diameter drain valves and sewer hose. Without it, the roof vent does not provide enough air flow into the tank to allow for rapid draining of the tank and it starts to slow until the airflow catches up. When not draining the tanks, those valves are held closed by spring pressure (hopefully) and don't contribute anything to the normal internal plumbing operation. If they had anything to do with standard drainage, they would be installed on your home plumbing. It sounds more like a plugged internal drain line - or more often than not - the unnoticed galley tank valve. The spring release valve actually serves both purposes. Piping in your house is vented as well. This allows the water to drain faster. If you drain slower you will clog the pipe faster which might be what's going on. Like others have said, first make sure you've got the dump open. If you are clogged pull the trap and make sure that your clog is downstream. Buy a small pipe auger and snake down to the tank. It shouldn't be that far. With the quality of most trailer construction I would not use any chemical(Draino) or pressure (blow bags) on it just for fear or blowing a joint apart. Good luck.

RE: Dual pane windows

I priced my replacement for our entire trailer at about $3000 through the dealer.

RE: People setting up in your campsite

I completely agree with what most have said. I think it's a bit of a stretch to say that a tablecloth or even a tablecloth and a hose serves as a good indication that the site is occupied. A cone or sign would be a great idea. At one local park you can only save a non-reservable site by having a means of sleeping there. I often run up on a Thursday night and put up our teeny tent and pay for the night. That's just the way this state park works.

RE: Buying a Fifth wheel

I would agree with most here, too much weight on the rear is the majority of the problem. Air bags would help but you'll still be pretty underpowered. I've only seen a couple 1/2 tons that weighed in properly. Both were standard cab models, which I doubt you have? Stretch the truck for a extended or crew cab and you've added a decent amount of weight. If you're stuck on the trailer, buy it and weigh in, but don't be surprised if you need a bigger truck. If you are willing to get the new truck, maybe you can look at different trailers that a bigger truck could still handle.

RE: Is this your truck?

Decent, but not the best photoshop I've ever seen. They extended the shadow beneath, but it lightened the color under the tip. -It's not shiney enough to reflect side light down. -It's round so if it did it would reflect all around. -also the color of it is off because of being stretched.

Don't be worried... You've done it before and I have a feeling you'll be doing it again!

RE: Designer 35RLTS and Jayco Talk...Thanks Frank!!

We were hoping to get away for a week and thanksgiving, but alas...work calls. I'm going to throw the genny in the back of the truck and power the compressor and blow out our lines. We are definately going to go a few places this winter. We are out of warranty for a month, luckily nothing came in at the wire. Still holding together. Everyone have a happy Thanksgiving!

RE: Montana Lug Nuts AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Look at it this way... It's not tight and it needs to be, period. Keep tightening. You're either going to: a) tighten it enough to torque it to 115 b) snap something off (not any worse off than you are now since it's not torqued) c) or it just keeps spinning (now you know there's a stud problem. BTW, your also not any worse off than you are now.) Either your good or it's all got to come apart again.

RE: Stupidity Club

This is the nightmare that it only took about 2-3 posts read before I ordered my bedsaver. I'm pretty analretentive but as everyones said, "stupidity" happens to everyone sooner or later.

RE: Birds and SlideOut Covers

BB gun What gets hit when you miss? neighbors, shattered skin on your trailer, windows, hole in the awning. I have a sense of humor and I guess you were just kidding...but I am always amazed at the folks that always suggest solving problems by shooting them. My solution: hang some short streamers on the awning edge that flutter and flap in the wind. Sometimes I'm amazed..... I wouldn't hesitate to use a bb gun. There are spring loaded that wouldn't hurt them too much unless you hit them right in the eye! Me, I would use the high powered one and take off a beak....then the eye.....a foot. *evil grin*

RE: Dropped it!

Buy a new hitch and a bedsaver. It's still cheaper than the fix and worth the piece of mind. I think I spent $800 for everything.

RE: hows this sound for discount on Jayco

.... the Jayco is a 35 RLSA the factory weighed tag on the door is 11,492lbs so the pin weight would be 20% of that at 230 lbs??, WOOO HOOO! Another 35RLSA... FYI, I have the second a/c, but no generator or washer and my pin is closer to 2450lbs with stuff in the basement and not alot of clothes.
