RE: Fun Outdoor activities in and around Portland Oregon

With the great information you folks provided I had an absolute great time in Oregon (and Washington). Thanks to all.
Special thanks to 2bornot2b and TRAVELNSHUZ. To 2bornot2b for the detailed recommendations and to Shuz for the detail recommendations as well as the phone call to provide farther detail on places to fish and visit.
Friday - I drove to the Oregon Coast while my partner in crime had to work. I drove to Cannon and then drove the coast to Tillamook. I stopped along the way to check out a couple of beach access points. Beautiful! I visited Tillamook creamery as suggested. Umm ummmm .........had German Chocolate flavored ice cream. Yuuuuuummy!
Once back to Portland I decided to drive to Multnomah Falls while I had a little daylight left. Also a must see. Because of darkness, I decided not to travel to the top of the falls.
Saturday - After a hearty breakfast we drove to Maupin. We stopped at Mt Hood and visited Timberline Lodge and Trilliam Lake. Great places to visit. We continued on to Maupin and fished the Deschutes River. No fish caught but beautiful scenery. We ended up crashing at the Imperial Lodge in Maupin. Cool little place. The rock fireplace out back made it a very inviting place to crash for the night. We had an excellent steak dinner. I was full as a tick afterwards and called it a night.
Sunday - We checked out the river beyond the places we fished on Saturday. We then traveled to The Dalles for some sightseeing. We stopped at Denny’s in The Dalles and I haven’t had waffles so good. I’m not a Denny’s fan but it really hit the spot.
Based on recommendation of the waitress we visited MaryAnn winery. We did the obligatory wine tasting, of course. Interesting place but I wasn’t too terribly impressed by the wine. The drive along the Columbia River Gorge was very nice.
We then drove North to Klickitat, Washington in search of a place to wet a fly. Unfortunately, the water was very turbid and not fishable in my opinion. We saw a place call Trout Lake on the map and figured certainly a lake with the name of “trout” had fish. Well, little did we know that was the name of the town NOT a lake (at least not one we found). Needless to say, we got a huge laugh out of that numskull decision. But all wasn’t lost as we got some excellent views and photos of Mt Adams.
By the time we made it back from our boneheaded adventure to Trout Lake (a town called Trout Lake…..sounds like a good book..lol..) and back along the gorge, it was getting dark so we made preparation to travel back to Portland for my red eye (midnight) flight back to Houston.
Great weekend get-a-way!!!!!!!!!!

Thinking about a guide or maybe venture out and do some fly fishing.

Current plan is to go East on Saturday and then West on Sunday.
Thanks in advace
Oh, I'm going to guess rafting this time of year is out. Right?

RE: Fun Outdoor activities in and around Portland Oregon

Just me flying there this weekend. Not RV'n......I wish
I don't care for shopping just beautiful scenary and outstanding day hikes. It would be nice to kayak a scenic area. Additionally, I'd love to rent a bike for some cycling. I'm flying in Thursday and catching a red eye out Sunday night. Believe me, I can pack alot in a weekend. A drive along the coast would be nice.
THanks for the feedback. Keep it coming please.

Getting rid of a dolly

I have Master Tow Dolly (Model 80THD) that I don't need anymore and would like to sale. Anyone had any luck selling such on ebay or the classified on here?

RE: Fun Things to do near Saint Paul

Update:
I took the above advice and traveled North to Grand Marais. I then drove the Gunflint Trail. I ended up staying at Way of the Wildernes Outfitter which is at the end of the Gunflint Trail. Awesome trip. I even hired a guide and did a fishing trip on Sag Lake. I caught a 27 inch walleye. I released it but caught several smaller walley's which I had the cook prepare at Way of the Wilderness. Yum Yum......
I also cycled around Lake Calhoun one evening. That was great as well. Minneapolis is a awsome city that really promote outdoor activities.
I visited Mall of America but I'm not a shopper and it was very late in the evening so I didn't see much other than the indoor amusement park and a couple of nearby bookstores.
Again, thanks for the advise and info.
