RE: Am I stretching my ecoboost limits?

Not to digress from the original post but unless you have the HD pkg that can't be. My truck only has 1700# of pay load in a GVWR of 7700 which the dealer told me was the highest that could be had without ordering the HD pkg of 8200 GVWR. I don't see how a 145" WB with a GVWR of 7650#(the highest I was shown) can have 1800# payload. I must be really missing something.....

RE: Am I stretching my ecoboost limits?

That still seems too high… for the 145" wheelbase

RE: Am I stretching my ecoboost limits?

Anybody know where the payload would be with a supercrew lariat 6.5 bed max to and HD payload? My dealer said he couldn't locate the HD payload package with this configuration.....???? Look on your driver door or post, there where be a white sticker showing all the codes then there is a yellow sticker that shows tires, cargo front and rear axle weights. What you are looking for is the last number that will show payload. For HD pkg you should see a # close to 2200lbs or there abouts…

RE: Am I stretching my ecoboost limits?

I am considering purchasing a new travel trailer soon. Was wondering what you guys think about tow vehicle to trailer. I have a 2011 F150 Ecoboost 3.5 with Max Towing, 3.73, 11200 GTWR, 1897 Payload, 17100 GCWR. The trailer I am considering is a Salem 31QBTS. Dry Weight 8140 Hitch weight 885 Cargo Cap. 2867(will not load more than 1500 tops including fresh water) I figure total trailer weight to be around 9500-9700 loaded. let me know your opinions and experience! Thanks Im sorry but there is no way you have that much payload capacity on a 145" wheelbase. I come in at 1700# with everything you can add for towing minus the HD pkg

RE: Balancing RV tires

Always a lot of different opinions on this subject but I believe that any tire mounted on a wheel and installed on any vehicle that travels on any road should be balanced. Can't explain why trailer manufacturers don't do it or that some tire dealers don't recommend it but it must just be a lack of knowledge on their part. Simply comes down to more man-power and increased cost

RE: New short bed truck, which hitch?

Long time member of this forum, but its been a long time since last post. Just bought a 2013 Chevy 2500 Hd diesel, crew cab, short bed. We will be shopping for another fiver. Never had a short bed truck. Considering a Reese 20k slider hitch #30084. Searched forum, but didn't have time to sort thru all the posts. Any advice or suggestions? Picking up truck Tuesday, so need info soon. Is that not a factory 6.5' bed ?

RE: Cruise Control?

I have a 2012 Chevy 3500 SRW Duramax/Allison and I'm wondering about use of cruise control. I hear a lot of conflicts on this on whether it damages the TV or not. I usually have some interstate travel where it would be great just to set it. I get on hills you don't want the transmission to hunt, but on most small grades mine doesn't shift that often anyway (it is an incredible machine!) I did a search and couldn't find any good threads (at least on the first 3 pages of results). Advice? Experience? I believe if you look in the owners manual, the A/D has a grade assist that works in-conjunction with the cruise for down hill. So it would only make sense that it would be fine for up hill. Never bothered us pulling See: Allison 1000

RE: Balancing RV tires

If your tires cupped, you may want to look at having your axels aligned. Cost me a $150 to get an alignment last spring. I was surprised at how much the alignment was out.

RE: F150 EB vs 5.0 towing

Don't settle for less then a 3:73 gears for your towing needs. In the future, you're going to be thankful you did. As for the EB vs the 5.0, there is debate over which is better. For me we tow considerable distance every year and see some fairly high altitudes, so the twin turbos are a win win for me.

RE: Ford ecoboost

Aside from the 7 lug, the GVWR should read 8200 for a HD model. My understanding is that the HD models don't have the e-lock rearend. That may be a CDN thing though. The next best option is a GVWR of 7700 for a 6.5' with maxtow 6 lug.

RE: First tow with F150

I moved the L brackets up one hole to see if additional weight transfer would make a difference. The only thing noted is that it porpoised more. Went back to the above settings. Remember, you want to keep your bars parallel to the TT frame, so adding washers is the best option, or adjusting the head on the shank.

Well I salute your determinatiion and good sense not to go in debt. FWIW: We camped in a used well maintained pop-up for a few years that we bought for not much money while we saved for our first TT. +2
