RE: Help with wheels and tires.

I got mine at Les Schwab, dont recall the price but they were able to get the tires and install done within a week. Make sure you get load range "G" tires, some 19.5's are F which have a capacity of 3640lbs, G has the capacity of 3970. If you are going to drop the coin for 19.5's get the biggest load range you can. Make sure you verify that you have the right load range when you are at the dealer. The first set they got for me where F's and they didnt notice it, I found out when I got home and looked at the tires, and then had to go back

RE: Help with wheels and tires.

This is what I am running, I would strongly advise going to 19.5's 2008 Chevy Silverado 2500 DMAX 2008 Arctic Fox 811 Vision Wheels with Toyo M608z's 225/70R19.5 14 plys rated at 3970 Supposedly you can run 245/70R19.5 on a 2500, I tried and got rub on the front end, I even had a (Torsion Bar Keys) leveling kit put on put it didnt help. RE: Swift Creek WA...full!!! Suggestions?

Good luck finding a place, summer time is very difficult to find camping around these parts, everything is booked way in adavance, there are lots of camp grounds further east that are first come first serve. Here are some links to help you. http://www.parks.wa.gov/parks/region/?selectedregion=northwest http://www.co.whatcom.wa.us/parks/silver-lake/index.jsp http://www.fs.usda.gov/recmain/mbs/recreation http://www.skagitcounty.net/Common/Asp/Default.asp?d=ParksAndRecreation&c=General&p=parks/index.htm If you want to go about 30mins past baker there is also the North Cascades National Park http://www.nps.gov/noca/planyourvisit/camping.htm Which is usually easier to find sites at cause they have many campgrounds and people dont make the drive that far out as easily. My personal favorite is the Goodell Creek Campground, right on river and it is slow moving majority of the year.

RE: Arctic Fox owners beware.

That is a very interesting response by northwood. I have a buddy who had a leak in one of his cabover lights and caused the underside of the front to delam. He called Northwood at the end of last year and they took real good care of him, now mind you he didnt get it fixed for free cause it was out of warranty but they did do a bunch of upgrades to the camper at no cost to him and reskinned the front at a very good price.

RE: Warm & Fuzzy

Ditto to what everyone else is saying. I have an AF 811 and was overweight on the tire capacity. I switched to 19.5's for added safety. I dont recall what my truck and camper weighed when I went to the scale but I know it was more than the tires were rated for.

RE: 19.5 Vision/Michelin XDS2 Balance/Shaking Expectations?

Glad you got your wheels balanced and that was the only problem. I was going to get dyna beads on my 19.5's but the company doesnt recommend them. http://www.innovativebalancing.com/ProblemsWith19.5_22.5.pdf

RE: Seeking a Truck Camper

Gary: Speaking from experience as a current AF owner, they are great campers but very heavy. The only thing you are going to get on the Short bed is an 800 series AF. I currently have an 811 and it is overweight for my 08 Chevy Duramax. The tires are not rated to carry anything that heavy. I ended up upgrading the tires to 19.5 truck tires for safety reasons. I am also running air bags on the truck as well. It rides fairly well but could be better. Good luck.

RE: Loading a camper that has no jacks.. How would you do it?

Wow, thanks for the great responses! The camper is for sale at an auction aways from my home. So if I buy it it will be sight unseen except for a few pictures and videos. This unit was a rental unit and it appears in one of the videos that there are jacks laying on the floor inside but I am planning on worst case scenario. I dont want to pull the jacks off my current camper since the one for sale is a different camper and make plus dont want to buy jacks for the camper YET unless it is in good condition. So I will have to truck in all the gear to lift the camper, company selling it wont provide assistance in loading it. It appears the camper is sitting on pallets right now.

RE: Loading a camper that has no jacks.. How would you do it?

I wouldn't buy it without the correct jacks and tie-downs. Thanks for the totally Irrelevant answer

Loading a camper that has no jacks.. How would you do it?

Ok, I have a question for you all. If you were going to buy a camper that didnt have jacks. How would you get the thing loaded in the pickup? I am looking at a used camper, and it doesnt have any jacks nor any equipment to load it. Whatever I use to load it I would have to bring myself. All thoughts are greatly appreciated.

RE: Added 110 volt basement heat and fan

Nice write up! What I did on my AF was upgrade the basement fan to a higher CFM fan and then wired a relay in that allows me to turn just the basement fan on from my digital thermostat so air is constantly circulating thru the basement when I am using my cube heater on 120v. It seems to work pretty well.

RE: Dropped a jack

I too had one drop, mine was a reico titan...My jacks were frozen. Camper wouldnt go up or down. Finally got it defrosted and loaded up. All seemed normal. Then while driving down the road noticed that the Inner Tube on the Jack where the pad is attached had dropped down to the road and was dragging. Luckily nothing happened, roped it up and contacted Reico, they made good on fixing it even though it was out of warranty. I bought some stainless cable and hooks and then drilled holes in the bottom of the pad, now I hook them in place as extra insurance.

RE: Adventurer Warranty Problems (What to do?)

How many here would tolerate Disco's problems on their new $30,000 car? Anybody? Anybody? I didn't think so. We'd be tracking down the nearest class-action law suit. Once again, JMHO. Bill AMEN! Really Disco goes out and buys a NEW camper and he is being picky?? Get real! People buy a new item, so they don't have to have it sit in a shop and get worked on. He didn't buy used, AMLRV should stand behind its product, not to mention the fire part... Cripes, give the guy a new camper and send him on his way. So I am curious where has the original dealer "Princess Craft" been during this whole fiasco, have you heard anymore from them? Why not take it back to their place and drop it and let them deal with it. I realize they are a ways away from where you live, but they sold you the lemon. They should also stand behind their product as well. I know some of you have great products from AMLRV and that dealer but I sure will think twice about purchasing anything from either at this point.

RE: Stable lift dilemma

How did you get the camper to the campground to begin with??? Like everyone else said. Get some 2 x 4's and put them back in till you can readjust it. Google stable lift, they are still in business.

RE: Can the Arctic Fox be used on it's JACKS?

I have an AF811 and just about every time I go camping I use it off the truck, full tanks with out any support under it. I have been doing this for years. Never have seen a problem.

RE: We bought one !!

WAY TO GO! Nice rig, welcome to the Truck Camper life. I used happi-jacks before and switched over to tork lifts with the fast guns, best and easiest way to go IMO. I can not stress enough, make sure you go over that camper with a fine tooth comb and DO NOT seal the deal tell ALL of your concerns and issues are addressed. There have been way too many people on here that post about issues after leaving the dealer, by then it is way too late. Good luck!
