RE: SoCal Rally April 11 - 13, 2014

R&S, that it was. Only reason we weren't part of the original San Diego 9 was because we had moved North in 99 after I retired and couldn't find work in San Diego. Cliff

RE: SoCal Rally April 11 - 13, 2014

OK, a quick search confirmed what I thought. 1st Annual SoCal RV.Net Rally Camping Shadow (Georgine) set it up with help from Gottahaveit (Kathie) and 96Bounder30E (Eric). Several People did manage to hit the posts either coming in or leaving. Gerri and I were staying at Santee Lakes and met Georgine for the first time as she lived right above the park and came over and joined us around the campfire for awhile. Lots of friends made over the years. 404 pages in the thread - dang, did we all talk a lot. Cliff

RE: Where to take teenager in no Ca

And tagging on what Ray said, if you are looking at the Tahoe Area, you also have Truckee on the way (neat place to explore) and then duck into Nevada to Carson City and Virginia City.

RE: SoCal Rally April 11 - 13, 2014

Vince, Ellie, Nicky - Hope you have a great time and enjoy. We really like staying there. We're off tomorrow to Flying Flags, in Buellton, for Thanksgiving Week. No Black Fridays for us. Thanksgiving Day will be our 26th Wedding Anniversary. A good day to cook outdoors, watch football and count your blessings. Have a pleasant holiday, everybody!!!

RE: Cottonwood, az suggestions..

As was already said, Verde Valley is one of our favorite TT campgrounds. We have never had a bad stay there. Not sure on the fire pit, but as was said, call the Ranger Station and they will let you know. Lot's and lot's of things to do in the area.

RE: San Diego

I would recommend Santee Lakes, but have no idea how much the monthly rate is. Best option is to call and get them to tell you what it would run. Santee Lakes

Hey Dwight sounds great we just landed at Russiam n River. Move to San Benito tomorrow. Haven't been there yet. Hit all 4 on Oregon coast over the last couple weeks. Didn't really like San Benito, but just us. Enjoy. Cliff

RE: SoCal Rally April 11 - 13, 2014

Hello from Ponderosa CG(T/T) in Lotus, Ca. We snagged a 50 amp site right across from the River with great views.....weather was rainy on Monday but has dried out and is warming up real fast. Nice place all in all but a tad tight in some places...our site(H-14) is on the end and we have plenty of room for all our Junk!! lol Stay Cool everyone....I know its gonna be Hot most places So Cal wise. Glad to hear you made it okay and have plenty of room. Yeh, getting around can be tight depending on where. But being right at the river is great. Was 80 in Camarillo at 7PM last nite. Tell Burnetta we said hi. Cliff

RE: Dish Tailgator

Dish Tailgater only works with a VIP211K receiver, and is only one channel at a time. That said, you can set the receiver up with an external hard drive. I've been happy with ours and especially the pay as you go. Also, fairly easy to change to the new location every time. Cliff

RE: Wine Country RV Park Paso Robles, CA>

Been too McPhees also, and enjoyed it, but would recommend Artisan in Down Town Paso. Took camping friends there and had a really great meal. You won't have enough time to do all the wineries, but have tons of choices. Any questions let me know. And we have been going to Wine Country RV since they first opened. Love the park. Cliff

RE: SoCal Rally April 11 - 13, 2014

Thanks Cliff, you were the next one I was going to ask about it. Ive booked a week up there and then on to Lake Tahoe afterwards....decided not to take 395 this time and rather go up the 5/99 I guess. I hate the 5. If I'm going there, take the 99 to the 50 and then head east. At Shingle Springs take N Shingle Rd. It will become Lotus Rd. Stay on it to 49. Take the left and you'll cross the bridge and entrance to the park is on the right. I'll send you a PM with some recommendations about the area. We really like it up there. Cliff

RE: southwest itinerary

There are a good number of them in Arizona. Some of them were already listed by dbbls. We do like both Tuzigoot and Montezuma's Castle (also Montezuma's Well, thought not listed on the Map that I will link. Arizona Ruins Any questions, feel free to PM me. Also, if you're in that area, Jerome is a great place to spend a few hours roaming around. Cliff

RE: SoCal Rally April 11 - 13, 2014

I was watching as those RV's went up in flames one by one...I hope the owners werent watching. I think those RV's were parked off Old Conejo Road in Newbury Park near the Mobile Home Park. Lots of smoke but its all blowing toward the Ocean and North not inland. Hi all. Know I haven't been around much, but a lot going on for Gerri and I. Can't commit to next years Rally though we would love to join all of our Rally Buddies. Hopefully things will sort out a little bit more and we can figure it out. That RV Storage lot is actually over to the West of The Camarillo Springs Trailer park and a couple of streets over from the Golf Course. My neighbor across the street's MIL lives there, and they used to store their 5th wheel over there. Since he got the Air Stream, he parks it alongside his house. We were in San Diego from Thursday to Sunday for the Grandsons Wedding Shower. Picked the RV up on Tues from the Storage lot at Mugu. Before we left on Thursday, was over on Dawson getting propane and the smoke was really picking up and the 101 southbound was backed up all the way to there. The Son's Wife's Grandparents own one of the units in the duplexs all the way on the west side of Camarillo Springs, and they were evacuated. Base at Mugu was shut down Thurs afternoon, Friday and into Sat. Was glad my RV wasn't in the storage lot, because it was hit or miss for awhile. Great job by the fire fighters. Could have been much much worse than it was. Try to stick my head in every so often. Cliff

RE: Private Campground on the Beach in So. Calif?

The one across from El Capitan is Ocean Mesa. I've never stayed there, but my neighbor across the street really likes it. My boss has stayed there also and enjoyed it. Another option would be Jalama Beach. It is a Santa Barbara County Park. Haven't been there for a couple of years, but great place right on the water. My understanding is they are now taking reservations. In the past they didn't, so you always needed to call and make sure they had room before making the trip back to the park. If I think of any more, I'll let you know. Cliff
