RE: wdw transportation

If you take the Disney bus to Downtown Disney you can pick up the city bus for a very minimal charge to Universal. My daughter took the bus to Seaworld and said it was only about $4 each. She said they ran regularly and that it was a very comfortable ride, was not crowded at all. Hope this helps.

RE: Campgrounds with water parks/water slides

We've been to Killens Pond State Park in Felton, Delaware a few times. They have a small, but nice water park. If you want a day at the beach you can take a trip to Rehobeth Beach, which is about a 30 minute ride and is a very nice beach/boardwalk town.

RE: Dollywood and Nashville Campground recomendations

Last May we stayed at the River Edge RV park in Pigeon Forge. The sites were not particularly large but the CG itself was very well managed. There is a very nice (and clean) pool, a hot-tub, a small playground and a great game room. (What is nice is that you can monitor the game room on you TV, just to keep an eye on your older kids!). The bathrooms were very clean as was the laundromat. The trolly ran through the CG often. They are pet friendly but do not offer a dog park though there is a great large hill that you can take your pooch for a walk on. Here is their link: River Edge Campground

RE: What new gear or gadgets are you RVing with this summer?

My DH just finished installing a voltage/amp meter, as well as installed a new Jensen stereo/DVD. I have also picked up some new pillows and blankets. Counting the days until our first trip of the season!

Lost our cover..

When I said I couldn't wait to get the (only 2 year old) cover off our TT, I really didn't mean for a Nor'Easter to help with it!:( Our cover made it through Sandy but finally gave up today. The front half of the cover ripped off the camper but the back half is hanging on for life!! The winds are really howling outside and we had lost our electricity for a few hours but luckily it is back on. Wires are down all over and the telephone poles going into Stone Harbor, NJ(a barrier island) have gone down like dominos. It's going to be a long day! Hope all across this country stay safe in this crazy weather.

RE: National Park "Passport Book" Program

My sister-in-law showed me the "Passport" to National Parks book last year when we were all visiting the Smokey Mountains. The booklets break the different parks by regions/color, and numbers. I picked one up and have since been able to get a few more stamps, including Assateague National park in Maryland, Jarpers Ferry, WV; and the C&O Canal Park in Sandy Hook, MD. I was disappointed when I realized that I forgot to get my book stamped last year at Jamestown in Va. Well, I guess we will just have to go back! LOL. It's a nice little hobby to enjoy!:)

RE: Kid Friendly Northeast CG's For Summer 2014?

We were undecided on a vacation spot this summer, then I stumbled on this thread and based on what I read, we'll be going to Lake George RV Park. My wife and I looked at the web site and area attractions and there is a lot to do. I didn't think the rates were too bad and we booked it for July.
That's what I like about RV. net. Real reviews from real campers! We found our most recent favorite, "First Landing State Park" in Va. Beach the same way...by reading a thread about it here on Rv.net. :)

RE: Need for more dog parks..

As far as pet parks, common sense goes a long way, IMHO. Clean up after your dog, and if your dog doesn't care for other dogs, stay out of the park. Our 2 dogs are close to 150 lbs each. We keep them out of the pet area when other dogs are using it. Usually the get to play in it on their early morning walk. Our dogs are fine with bigger dogs, but the little yappy (no offense to anyone) dogs bother them. So we use our heads and keep them away.
If only all the dog owners would control their dogs and not let them run up to other dogs.
By the way, OP, Twin Grove has a nice dog park. Only a few hours away from you in Pa.
I agree with you mikehe. We mainly utilize the park when empty or near empty so that our dog can run loose and get some energy out. Most KOA parks now offer a K-9 park (as they call it) and while traveling we definitely choose them above a CG that doesn't offer it. In my eyes, the chances of picking up a germ at a dog park can be just as likely as picking one up at the trees lined along the CG road where every dog in the CG has sniffed and/or left his mark.LOL. As with every thing in life the few campers that DON"T pick up after their pet and/or control their animals make the rest of us look bad and give CGs a reason for complaints. I feel that most dog owners ARE very considerate to other campers..unfortunately the ones that AREN'T don't care enough about others..just themselves.:(
(and thanks for the link to Twin Grove. Will check it out:))

RE: Fort Wilderness Price

We will be staying in late April and got a AAA price of $86 (preferred). I felt this was very reasonable for the amenities and atmosphere that are offered. We all need to stay withing our comfort zone but there are times worth splurging and, for us, the Fort is one of them! :)

RE: Cruise ship nightmare

I am interest to see how many attorneys were handing out cards to people as they got off. Cant wait to see the first law suit in few weeks
According to the news tonight there is already a lawsuit! They hadn't even been home 6 hours, Although the news anchorman said that apparently all that "fine print" in the passengers reservations may very well keep them from winning much of anything. I get the feeling this is going to be a long battle!

Need for more dog parks..

Am I the only camper who gets frustrated when a CG advertises themselves as being "pet-friendly" then offers no place specifically offered to walk your pet and/or (most importantly) offering a (not necessarily large) fenced in area/playground I have noticed that most of the KOA's offer a small but very suitable dog-park at most of their parks, :)but most of the private (and all of the state parks) that we have visited just have rules about keeping your dog on a leash while walking, yet offer NO designated dog areas.:( Yes I am adamant that ALL dog owners need to pick up after their dogs, but I think most of us would rather have a designated area to let our dogs do their duty other than walking past all the other RVs in the park and letting Fido pick which one he would like do his duty in front of. I am certain that lots of people who do either do not have, or do not enjoy dogs certainly cringe when having to have their neighbors dog squat along the edge of the road because there was nowhere else to walk him but the streets of the CG. Thankfully most campers do pick up after their dogs but then we have the idiots who just walk away.
Maybe I am missing something, but I would think it would be an asset to a CG to offer a small dog park area. I would certainly agree to signing a waiver if needed, as well as pay a (reasonable) user fee. Just my opinion.

RE: Travel Channel showing RV related shows tonight (Sun)

I think I seen those before. they are OK to watch, but nothing exciting. I personally would like to see them do some shows on actual RV`ing places/campgrounds, with people in everything from tents to highend DP`s! Now I think that would be an excellent series.
I agree!

Travel Channel showing RV related shows tonight (Sun)

Just an FYI and I know it's late notice, but I was skimming through my TV channels and noted that the Travel Channel is playing a few different RV related shows tonight (Sunday 1/6/13). I believe they are all about extreme or high-end RVs but it might be interesting to watch!

RE: Assateague Island must have taken a pretty bad beating

http://www.nps.gov/asis/loader.cfm?csModule=security/getfile&pageid=416869
Yeah, they got it pretty bad. Took a day trip this weekend to try to see for myself. First things first, as we drove into the park and approached the entrance gate to the park there was a small gathering of ponies grazing. It brought a tear of joy to my eyes. You can visit the north beach but the rangers had the rest of the park blocked off. In talking to a "pony patrol" yesterday her said that all of the ocean front campsite pads were under a substantial amount of sand and the picnic tables were scattered everywhere. The bay front picnic area was worse. There are some attached pics in the link above.
Thanks for the update. You can read an article and think you know what damage they are describing but when you see the pictures it really puts it into perspective. We've been seeing pictures for 8 days now and I still get amazed at the strength of the ocean! Unbelievable! I am sure Assateague is now trying to prepare for this Nor'easter heading up the coast. I know here in Cape May we are once anxiously watching the weather reports! Stay safe everyone.
