RE: is it hard for a novice to repack bearings???

It took 800 miles of bad tire wear before I realized there was a problem. Took the camper to an alignment shop and they showed me where the jack was placed. No one else has ever put a jack under this unit before this, but after 800 miles how do I prove it? I will do my own work from now on.

RE: is it hard for a novice to repack bearings???

If you do it or hire someone to do it, make sure you do NOT jack up the trailer on the axle (close to the tire should be OK). I got lazy last summer and had the local RV fix it shop do my 3 axle trailer and he jacked up each axle in the center of the axle and destroyed all three. Cost me $1400 to have all replaced and new bearing.

RE: Buyer BEWARE

No way do I think the salesman didn't know the law in his state, he was just trying to make a quick sale. While it is the buyers responsibility to be properly licensed, the salesman should also provide the correct answer.

RE: Rear Axle Ratio Change?

My neighbor changed his 3.73 gears to 4.10gears in his 09 dodge diesel and the only thing it did for him was empty his wallet by $2200.00 (4x4 truck). No change in performance at all.

RE: Anybody settle in Show Low year around

I have lived here over 20 years and it's a great place to live. We've had 2 major fires in the area and while some places are really bad, not all was destroyed. You can still camp and play in almost all areas of the forest. I live 10 miles east of Show Low and would recommend not living in Show Low proper. It's nice watching elk in your yard in the morning. You do need something to do in the winter if you don't ski, snowmobile, etc in the winter. We like to head to the desert for a month or so in Jan/Feb time frame just to warm up. There are lots of small communities around the Show Low area that give you the country feeling without being hemed in.

RE: Trailer Tire wear

I had the same issues with 2 Keystone 5th wheels. They were both weighed and were not overweight. The problem was out of alignment axles. Dexter paid for the 1st camper plus some tires and I paid for the second alignment before things went south.

RE: lakeshore rv

Our neighbors and us purchsed 2 Montana's from Bob at Lakeshore RV and the whole process was great. We also stayed a few nights on their lot and had a few things repaired before returning to Arizona. We thought they were all a great bunch of folks to work with.

RE: Why the diesel tank

Try pulling into a car size gas station when you're 60' long and you soon realize why you carry extra fuel.
