RE: Letter from Country Coach
I hope they make it, my next coach is either an Affinity or a King aire. Hope they are both still in business in a couple of years.
RE: Do you run your Generator all night??
I have ran my generator for a week at a time, not once has it caused my co2 detector to go off. I will never put a gen turi on my coach. What a ugly piece junk to put on your coach. Never had a complaint that my exhaust was a problem, and I always ask when we are close to others
RE: Fed up with being taken on repairs!
Maybe you should take your self to school and learn to do the work yourself. There are a couple of things I will probably not do due to safety concerns, but I darn sure can change the oil, replace 8 springs or do a simple tuneup. Those that do not take the time to learn how to do simple jobs them selves are only asking for problems. Even if you are physically unable to actually do the job yourself, you should learn enough to know when you are being ripped of or not. Heck, my girls are that smart!
yep, two years at the local Vo-Tech Master Automotive and Diesel course, and a year at the RV technician course in Florida, about $15,000 for tuition and books, and $5000 for tools, and you will never have to worry about having to pay the exorbitant labor prices again. then, if you spend the money to get a business license or set up an LLC (or both), you can get your parts wholesale and save even more money! you can even transfer your RV to the LLC, and then you can deduct some of the expenses for it from your business taxes, for even more savings! you can charge your friends and neighbors for work you do for them, too, and actually MAKE money!
three to five years, and $20,000 to $25,000, and you'll be sitting pretty!
As a retired mechanic, I am fed up with people who try to make it seem that ALL mechanics are stupid rip-off artists.:B
RE: Electric or hydraulic jacks?
Electric for smaller coaches is fine. But for a large coach hyd is better. And when the screw in the electric jack gets rusted and dont work you will wish you had hyd jacks. Just sayin!!!
RE: opinion on prevost
by US Federal law (I believe) no single axle can have more than 20 000 pounds on it. There are some manufacturers that use 23 and 28K axles. Now that isn't' a bad thing, *unless* they try and use that non-legal capacity. And yes any coach could have that issue if weight isn't split up well.
at least that is my understanding of things.
Wrong, tire size changes the 20000 rule.
RE: which ac should i use
Hi
Should I use the generator for the top ac or should I use the ac from the motor. When driving ive tried using the ac from the engine but it just doesn’t cool enough to keep the motor home cool but im not to happy about putting all that time on the generator while driving.. any suggestions would be appreciated
pete
Run the generator as much as possible, it is good for it. you can put thousand of hours on it and it wont hurt it.
RE: Propane vs. All electric
I think you'd be hard pressed to find a King Aire with propane appliances.
On the fridge front, our NDA 1402 is one of the most complex and difficult to work on pieces of equipment in the entire RV, plus it has given me headaches since we got it. If it wasn't blowing fuses, it was giving a sporadic "CALL 13" error that I only recently was able to have fixed.
Since a refrigerator is one of the key systems on an RV, having a reliable and fully functioning unit is paramount. Dometic and Norcold simply haven't the ability to produce a quality product of the size and power that a top end coach requires.
How did you fix call 13 because no one can seem to fix mine.
RE: Spitting Air Brakes
air pressure continues to build when the motor is running. it is a safety release valve that you hear.
Not true the d2 governor stops the building of air when pressure is reached. You either here the air dryer dumping or the air leveling
