RE: Truck camping on othe beach

We are into our fourth year of beach camping and we love it. We go to Island Beach in NJ, Assateague in MD, Freeman Park at Carolina Beach and my New Fav, Cape Lookout National Park. The more remote the better. Our truck and camper are holding up well as we carefully wash, clean and wax after each trip. I recommend a rear deck on the back of your camper. We put a 35 gallon water tank on our roof rack for beach trips so we can take outside showers to conserve gray water tank space. I would choose a camper with the most gray and black water capacity as possible. My wife and I can generally stay on the beach for 5-6 days. It is the holding tanks that limit our stay. We love the beach. Xtreme Campers tricked out our Lance 992 for the beach and I would highly recommend them.

RE: Chalet's TC Washer and Dryer pictures

I was in that camper at the rally. It was.really a beautiful rig and the fit and finish inside was amazing. I especially liked the electric radiant heat in the floor as we took our shoes off while we were inside. The recliner was very comfortable. They hauled it on a DRW F350. The rig was very big. I would rather have an oven instead of the washer dryer myself. My exact thought was why? I would probably get a class c if given the choice.

RE: Use of air bags

I would consider a good solid heavy duty sway bar. I upgraded the one on my truck and the handling is much better.

RE: Modding an F-350 up or an F-550 down for TC

I would go with the larger factory truck. I believe it will be cheaper and better in the long run.

RE: How to enjoy packing for a trip

I make a new list for each trip on a spreadsheet and after the trip, i make a note of anything we forgot or needed that we did not pack. Been doing this for 3 years. So when we duplicate a trip or do a similar trip, i just pull up that sheet and update it for that trip. I find this has saved me a lot of time, made packing easier. Works for me.

RE: With or without oven

Definitely with. We use it all the time. And when we dont it makes a good bread and cracker storage area. We cook, roast, and bake with it.

RE: lance 990 atwood power jack problem

I had that problem with my 950 s. the battery indicated that it was fully charged but I could not get the jacks to work. Turns out there was a bad cell in the battery. Replaced the battery and the problem went away.

RE: Truck Camper Slideouts - Are They Really Worth It?

Our first camper was a Lance 950S which is a single slide. After a couple years, we upgraded to a double slide Lance 992. We camp off road and have had no problems and i don't think i would ever consider a non slide as the space is awesome especially when the weather is bad. Never had any leak problems and i think the extra 500 pounds is worth it providing you have the vehicle to handle the extra weight.

RE: Truck camping/boondocking with small dogs

We have two Jack Russel Terriers who are both full of piss and vinegar. We bought a collapsable pen from one of the chain pet supply stores. we fold it up and store it on the roof when not in use. I have a 6 x 6 space blanket which i bungie over the top which provides shade and keeps the little guys from jumping out. We also use cable ties which we attach to the back legs of the camper when i don't feel like setting up the pen. Just need to keep an eye on them so they don't get tangled. They both travel well and are good campers. We cant say the word camping in our house because it excites them.

RE: TONIGHT - "KOA Undercover Boss Show"

I think the show was pretty good and I thought the CEO was very sincere. Besides, he is an Eagle Scout and that makes him exceptional in my book. Once an Eagle, always an Eagle. I believe he walks the talk. As for KOA, they are what they are and we stay at one in Stroudsburg PA once in a while and they are nice, helpful people who keep the place neat and clean. Still prefer camping on a beach to a campground. :)

RE: New Lance 1172 Truck Camper Video

I am on my second Lance and would have no reservation recommending Lance. Our first was a 950s which we used for three seasons with no issues. Sold it it retaining 85% of the initial purchase price. Bought a 992 which is a very comfortable camper. Someday I will probably buy a third Lance. And I will buy it from Xtreme. Again.
