Possible to paint compartment door myself?

Our fairly new Thor motorhome (full body paint) had an encounter with a stump by the side of our driveway and damaged a compartment door and the fender over a wheel well. I have high deductible insurance and when I took it to a body shop the cost of replacing the fender and compartment door skin weren't too bad but the painting was very expensive, involving three or four colors and masking and so on.
My question is whether it's practical to do the painting myself. I'm not concerned with it being a perfect job. Sure don't want the extensive blending that was recommended.

Best campground near a California ski area?

We'd like to stay a week or two in our motorhome near a ski area. Any suggestions as to nice campgrounds with services that are within easy driving distance of a good ski resort?

RE: Bicycle rack for pickup truck toad

How do those fork blocks work? Do you bolt them to the sidewalls or to the front of the bed? What do you do with the front wheels?

Bicycle rack for pickup truck toad

We tow a small pickup truck behind our motorhome. The last system I bought that secured two upright bicycles in the truck bed to one sidewall broke. I'm sure there are lots of opinions, but what brand and type of bike rack do you all recommend, preferably for standing them upright in the truck bed?

Need suggestions for San Juan Islands, WA

We're going to be traveling through Washington state in September or October and would like to visit the San Juan Islands - San Juan and/or Orcas. I'd appreciate suggestions as to which ferry to take and what to see and do on the islands.
We have a 37 foot Class A with a toad. Thanks.

RE: When chains are required

Geez, people, I already said I'd avoid snowy roads if at all possible. What happened to the attitude around here?

When chains are required

We plan to take our motorhome into the Aspen area February or March. We intend to avoid snowfall while traveling but if there's no avoiding it, do motorhomes do better or worse than automobiles on snowy roads? If we screw up and find ourselves on a road where the signs tell us that chains are required, are the guys who install chains for a fee on the side of the road able to do that for RV's?

Slideout locks required in Cananda?

Some years back I seem to remember some sort of requirement for locks for a motorhome's slideouts in order to be allowed into Canada. Is that still in effect?

Dead toad battery

We have a 37' motorhome and tow a pickup truck behind it. We have a supplemental braking system and a blue electrical cord that controls that plus brake and turn signals - the usual. Yesterday when we arrived at a new campground after a couple hours' drive, the toad's battery was dead. My wife thinks she might have turned the toad's ignition key one click too far. Could that have run down the battery? I noticed some corrosion on the battery terminals so that might be at play, too. After a jump start, everything seems fine again.

Owning a campground

We've been traveling around the country and staying in a variety of campgrouds. Some are pretty well managed, many aren't. I'm curious about the economics of owning a campground. Has this been discussed here?
I know that there are a lot of variables, but is it really expensive to develop a campground from country acreage? Would it be cheaper to buy a campground and upgrade it? How expensive to lay concrete pads as opposed to gravel? Is the sewer the most costly service to put in?

Campgrounds around Fort Collins, CO?

We've heard great things about Fort Collins, Colorado and were hoping to stay there about a week in our 37 foot motorhome with towd. But it looks like campgrounds are very scarce. Anyone have suggestions?

RE: Hwy 550 from Durango to Ouray, Colorado

Hey, guys. We made it. I loved the experience. My wife was scared spitless. One of the most beautiful drives ever, and Ouray is a picture postcard.

RE: California to Vancouver Trip

Off topic, but how has towing the Porsche worked out? We have a Boxster and it would be fun having it along, but I've worried about road damage. So we've towed an older Mazda pickup truck.

Hwy 550 from Durango to Ouray, Colorado

We're in a 37 foot Thor Challenger gas motorhome with a tow, and my wife is worried about the road from Durango, CO to Ouray. Something about narrowness, sheer dropoffs, and no guard rails shoulders. This is beautiful country and I'm looking forward to it. Anybody familiar with that road?
