RE: Boston Marathon Bombing

2nd suspect is NOT in custody as of 12:50. The persons taken into custody are not suspects but may possibly be related to them. My company has just over 50 people in it. 6 cannot make it into work because they live in the affected area. One is right in the middle of the manhunt to the point where law enforcement is requesting to use her bathroom. One of my co-workers had a friend running. He crossed the finish line about 5 minutes before the first bombing. Another coworker, who moved here from Kosovo to get away from this type of thing, was in between both explosion, not 200 feet away from the first one, with his two young children. They escaped through a business' rear emergency exit unharmed. I went this morning to give blood at my HMO center about 20 miles NW of Boston. I commented it was unusually quiet for that time of day. They cancelled many non-urgent appointments to make room for those affected in/near the city that need to be seen and can't wait. The impacted area is much wider than just the search area. Welcome to what it's like to live in places like Chechnya where this a regular occurence. We Are One Boston and will persevere. Be ever vigilant. They also took a 60 year old man into custody for unrelated reasons during their search.

Rhonda, I can't put into words my feelings for you right now. Please find some peace and comfort in knowing that others are thinking of you. For reasons unbeknownst to us God took another angel home.

RE: Fire in TT Caused by Fridge?

Dometic had a bunch of fridges recalled due to a fire hazard. I'm sure there are many out there that didn't get fixed.

RE: A Thank You From Me and the People of Boston

Bigred, there was a website with how to help but I think it's been taken down. The response has been so great that the Red Cross has actually had to refuse blood donations. How can RVers help? This is the FBI tip line: 1-800-494-TIPS. If you see, hear, or suspect anything suspicious that might possibly be related, even if it's nowhere near hear, call them. Be ever vigilant. And of course, as always, prayers and thoughts are always welcome. On edit: Here is the website: visit http://onefundboston.com The three who were killed have now been identified: Martin Richard, 8 years old, Krystal Campbell, 29 years old, both of whom lived near the city, and a graduate student from Boston University who was from China. Her parents have requested she not be identified.

A Thank You From Me and the People of Boston

From the bottom of my heart and on behalf of the people of Boston (and the rest of the state) I just want to say THANK YOU and send everybody a big hug for your love and support in the aftermath of Boston marathon tragedy. The Chicago Tribune did an absolutely awesome front page of their Sports section today-if you can find the link, look it up. We are all in this together and the outpouring of compassion has not gone unnoticed, not just by me, but by all.

RE: My last time in Best Buy

Of all the things to gripe about.... Put your big boy pants on and deal with it. Exactly. Offended because the store is trying to protect itself? You need a life.

RE: Boston Marathon Bombing

Jim, it can be some sort of "twisted revenge". Targets of those trying to "get even" are often unrelated to the "reason". Timothy McVeigh was seeking revenge against the US government for how they handled the Waco, TX, siege. How many of the 168 killed, including children, had anything to do with that? Truth is most of these terrorists don't connect innocence with guilt-they just lash out. They are more inclined to believe this was domestic terrorism due to the type of devices used-crude, not made to optimize destruction-but we may never know.

It's the same voice as the dog in the clip where the guy is talking about everything in the refrigerator. Soooooo cute!

RE: Boston Marathon Bombing

Never mind-this is going to go downhill fast. Moderator, please close thread. Thank you. ---------- Crowe, sorry for the problems created by a few members, we are going to try to keep it open; at least for a while. But we are NOT going to support rumors, stereotyping, etc. The facts will come out in time, and until then lets be patient and pray for the injured.

RE: Boston Marathon Bombing

Yes, there was a third explosion at the JFK library but it is still unclear if it's related. It was initially reported as an electrical fire but judging by the pics it's much more than that. LindaAnn, I am about 25 miles northwest of the city, so I am "safe". My worry is I know people who run the marathon yearly and have no idea if they ran this year. Right now we can hear multiple sirens and fire trucks in our own neighborhood, but we live near a fire station and near some windy roads where accidents are common. I will admit I'm a bit rattled tonight.

Boston Marathon Bombing

Two bombs have exploded at the finish line of the Boston Marathon, one has exploded at the JFK library, and two more devices dismantled (although that has been disputed). Security has been heightened in NYC and DC. They are urging people to stay home and away from crowds until they get a handle on what's happening. Two are dead and 23 injured with the number expected to rise. Please pray for everyone.

RE: Ugh!! It's Time To Lose Weight Again

On the other hand, I'm a huge coffee drinker. I quit smoking but I can't seem to kick the coffee habit. For quite few years now, that's all I've consumed during the day. Then, in the evening, have a nice, big meal. I'm finding as I get older, that may not be the smartest thing to continue. My body seems to be storing up the food while I sleep and turning it into fat, so says the weight scale. It's not smart for anyone to skip meals. What happens is the body will "hoard" sugar because it's afraid it won't get anymore. I need to start eating smaller portions in the morning and afternoon, then not eat such a large meal before bed. More activity couldn't hurt either, I guess. Multiple small meals during the day is the best way to eat for weight and glucose control. This holds especially true for diabetics. It helps prevents sugar highs and lows. What you don't burn off turns to fat, and if there's too much to burn, the weight goes on. For activity just start by walking. You'd be surprised as to how much that helps.

RE: Any one else need a hard hat in their RV ??

Hubby has set a record for number of times whacking his head on the corner of the pin box on our old fiver. Me, I just trip over the awning ropes and face plant!

Sirius XM Subscribers Beware!!!

This may have been posted before so I'll apologize if it's a repeat. Went to extend my hubby's Sirius subscription on his truck as the trial ran out. Received 2 notices, one to do payment online, one via check. Decided to set up the online payment, and proceeded to start to pay it. First issue was the mandatory auto renewal, so I did a live chat with support and they indicated the only way to not auto-renew is to get an invoice and send a check. I hate writing checks but hate auto-renewals more. The rep insisted they send plenty of warning if you want to cancel, but I decided they could wait for the money to come on paper. Issue #2: When I started to write out the check, I discovered the payment via check was THIRTY dollars less than if I paid online! AND I got 2 free months instead of one if I paid via invoice. So buyer beware and check your invoices.

RE: Have you ever eaten chipmunk?

Hmmmm. Elk, reindeer, venison, moose, bison, bear, beaver, and rabbit. Nope, no chippies. Takes too many to make a meal out of!

RE: New England in May - Suggestions for a first timer?

Flapper, pick up a Trucker's Road Atlas. There are still low bridges up this way that can't accommodate the height of your fiver. Some of the roads labeled "turnpikes" or that are secondary highways aren't much more than paved over cow paths. The TRA will help should you get turned around somewhere, which is easy to do up here!

RE: Vermont and New Hampshire Campgrounds

Love Danforth Bay. Wouldn't take an RV along the Kancamagus Hwy. Have seen them but I personally wouldn't do it.
