RE: Deer No Match for E350 Van
qjane,
Sorry to hear about your (literal) run-in with the deer. I generally don't see too many of them around here in the Bay Area. I remember seeing lots of those critters when I used to live in central MO years (decades) ago.
Putting all the talk about varmints aside, there is a more important topic at hand.
How much did you enjoy The Dead concert in Chicago on Monday? I'll be going to see them next Thursday out here at Shoreline Ampitheater in Mountain View. It's been quite a while since I last saw them. For an old Dead Head like myself, it seems mighty strange to be in this situation. :o Oh well, I'll survive.

RE: Awnings on a B. Do you use them.
We often camp in Oregon and Washington and we use our awning just about every day that we're out. We wouldn't be without one.
If it's sunny out, the awning provides shade to relax in.
And if moisture is being delivered to your campsite, the awning provides the one really large dry space that you may find you really need for your peace of mind after a while. And if you camp in western OR & WA, you may find that moisture is being delivered more often than not, so much so that you don't ask if it's raining but instead you ask what the intensity is. :B
We use large spikes to hold the posts to the ground, and have never had problems with the wind. (Perhaps I should knock wood here.)
