RE: TV Advice

I have the same trailer as you and pull with an Escalade EXT. With the 6.2L it has no problems pulling the trailer, but I did have a few hairy moments in the the Rocky Mountains on the downhills with the brakes. I am currently looking at trading the Escalade in for a 3/4 ton. Family safety is more important than a luxury ride to me.
Personally, I would never pull that trailer with a Grand Cherokee or a Durango as the wheelbase is too short.

RE: Organizing front pass-through storage area

I use Rubbermaid bins and have them organized by use(plumbing, electrical, cooking, ...). They are easy to slide in and out and don't scratch the floor.

RE: legnth of finance terms?

Typically RV finance periods in Canada are 15 years. We purchased a new trailer last year and I believe the interest rates were about 6.5%.
Our home mortgage happened to be up for renewal at the same time with an interest rate at 4% with 15 years remaining. So, we just added the cost of our trailer onto our new mortgage. We still have 15 years left on the mortgage, but because the interest rates went down, our payments stayed the same even with the trailer added on.

That photo reminded me of this place.

Here is another angle. I usually visit this area once a year. Always take the kayak and paddle out to the island.

RE: Where are we?

Ok, I will keep mine in Canada in a spot that doesn't seem to fit the topography. It is the highest point in Canada between the Rockies and Labrador. One of my favourite places to camp every year.

RE: Bunk house question/opinion

x2 on the Passport. Super light weight, half ton towable, tons of space, great outside storage.

RE: Anyone upsize to a 30' and wish they hadn't?

We went from a 25 to a 30 and could not go back. We love it! The extra space for the kids is priceless. Also, I find the 30 footer easier to tow and also easier to back up into place. When backing up, the longer it is, the slower it turns. So, it is easier to get it pointed in the right direction. Many years ago we had a tiny little 4 foot tent trailer and I would jackknife it constantly. It drove me nuts! I usually just unhitched it, picked it up by hand and walked it into place. :-)

RE: Problems with new Passport

I bought a new Passport 2910BH this year too. I love the trailer (Layout, space, ease of pulling,...), but have had numerous issues too.
So far,
1. Stabilizer Jack destroyed on delivery
2. Fridge Died
3. Water Heater leaked (outside, thankfully)
4. Outside Storage door was coming off
5. Veneer is coming off some paneling
6. Television has dead pixels
7. Black tank not dumping properly.
8. Shower head leaks when shutoff is pressed
We decided to get the 7 year extended warranty, so I'm very thankful for that.

RE: Fridge Dead! What do you do?

Update:
In the small word we live in, my wife works with the wife of one of the service department guys at our dealership. She sent her a text message (just shooting in the dark) to see if they had any ideas. Long story short, they are going to get our unit into the shop first thing in the morning for a new fridge and we'll be on our way a few hours after.
I have nothing but great things to say about our dealership. Top notch!

Fridge Dead! What do you do?

We have a brand new Passport Trailer. This will be our 3rd camping trip in it. We are leaving tomorrow morning, so I picked up the trailer from storage today to pack it and get the fridge cold. Turned everything on and went in 4 hours later and the fridge is boiling hot. Looked in the fridge access and it's leaking ammonia.
So the fridge is shot, but we are supposed to be leaving in the morning. What would you guys do to keep things cold for the week before it goes back to the dealer for repair?
