RE: 2014 Silverado and Sierra 1500 Trucks are being Shipped

What is a double cab??? Choices are crew, extended, or regular... The 2014 Silverado will come in crew, double, or regular cab. The extended cab has been renamed to reflect the door now opening forward.

2014 Silverado and Sierra 1500 Trucks are being Shipped

GM has started shipping the 2014 Silverado and Sierra's to dealers. They are all Crew Cabs with the 5.3. The Double Cab and Regular Cabs are coming soon. I have seen several Double Cabs on the road. Know somebody who has one with a 4.3.

RE: Protect your Credit Cards at Syracuse Rally

My wife's card was likely scammed at a Country Inn and Suites in GA. We selected this chain based on previous use. However, at 1 am this one was not up to standards. At 6 am we had breakfast, there was some interesting people walking the halls. At 2 pm the cc company called to confirm the use for multiple $49 purchases at Walmart in Atlanta. Yes, there was no proof as this card was used on Disney grounds once earlier in the week. Was ironic that it was Atlanta on way home.

RE: 2013 RAM HDs driven/tested

And Roush is still doing much testing of Ram trucks. I saw them twice in the last week. They are pulling trailers, and carrying loads. Also saw many Jeep Cherokees (and was run off the road by one merging onto the freeway and moving immediately into the left lane) being driven.

RE: Chevy or Ford

Only with the Ford you can have the keyless entry keypad on the driver's door. That's a sweet option! Only on the Silverado/Sierra can you unlock your doors, check your air pressure in tires, and know your oil life from your phone! Oh, and start your truck from the airport terminal so that it is warmed/cooled when you arrive!

RE: Non staining sun lotion?

We have the same issue. It started about 2 years ago. We had found one brand that did not, but last year when we bought a new bottle it did. I will be watching for other feedback.

RE: 2014 GM 1500 Payload Specs

Check out the new payload specs for the 2014 Chevy/GMC 1500 trucks. Unless I'm misreading it, the "standard" 1500 4wd 5.3 crew cab (near bottom of page) will have a payload rating of 1957 lbs (vs ~1650 now). What's interesting, is that the "max tow" 1500 4wd 5.3 has a ~100 lb lower rating. Yes, the "max tow pacakge" will be available w/ a 5.3 and 3.73 gearing. Not too shabby... If you look at the vehicle weight of the max tow, it weighs ~100 lb more than vehicle with out the max tow. So the max tow package adds weight without payload, but increases the GCWR by 1700 lbs.

RE: April Sales numbers

Glad to see consumers buying again and vehicle sales are up. However a peak at what percentage of fleet sales vs individual consumers makes up a truck makers total sales would be interesting. Remember, there are different types of fleet deliveries. A smaller business may buy pickups, and if they buy 5 or more in a 12 month period they are considered fleet. These small businesses will not be receiving great fleet discounts.

RE: April Sales numbers

The Chevy sales increase is due to increased incentives up to 16.4%. The highest in the industry. Yahoo News "The company also saw a $200 million drop in operating earnings as it was forced to offer pricing deals on its current large truck line ahead of the launch of the new models" mm49 Gotta love internet news. I suggest that you dig deeper into other sources. DETROIT—General Motors Co.'s GM +3.15%first-quarter profit fell a less-than-expected 11% as a result of a weaker performance in North America, where the largest U.S. auto maker is spending heavily to launch new pickup trucks, continuing losses overseas and the impact of currency turbulence in South America. Wall Street had expected a bigger earnings decline, and GM shares were up 4.5% at $31.54 in midday trading on Thursday in New York. You are quoting aggregate numbers. If you want to contest the point you should address the topic of my comment. "Sales incentive per volume of trucks sold" You are trying to cloud the issue. Nice try thou. MM49 I will address your nonsense. GM has delivered 157,411 Silverado's and Sierra's in Q1. Your reported $200 million would be $1,270.32 per vehicle. For a vehicle that has sold almost 750,000 vehicles over its life (deliveries of GMT900 pickups), a $1300 incentive to remain competitive is not unheard of in the automotive industry. Also, this would say that the trucks was the only part of the business that cost the company money. As indicated, the company was planning on a decrease, and Wall Street analysts were happy with the results. Anything else you would like explained with facts?

RE: "Little things to know" about 2500 series Suburbans/Yukons?

I had a 2500 Yukon XL with the 8.1. Awesome towing, and really miss the SUV. As a dad of four girls, and two dogs, a pickup is not the answer. (Although I did go to one last year, expecting that the two in college would stop camping.) Issues I had with mine was the pump rub causing the hole in the transfer case housing, air conditioner, autoride sensors, power window regulator, and brake pads. Mine became my dedicated tow vehicle, and it sat for weeks. The rust on the rotors would destroy the pads. Only other issue was fuel consumption. Was between 10-12 mpg.

RE: April Sales numbers

Dadoffourgirls, Are you trying to edjamacate MM49 with real facts and knowledge? You're wasting your time cause he wears those filtering Fiat owned Chryslers glasses and probably even wears them when in bed. Read some of his post history and it's self-explanatory! Just hoping to provide others with a balanced approach to looking at the news. I once asked my 5th grader daughter if my glass was half-empty or half-full. She answered it was full! Half liquid, half gas.

RE: Crazy Truck Dealers

The huge discounts on new GM trucks are not helping you any. On the other hand, the Ford Discount is helping bring the new vehicle price down. $3500 Customer cash, $1000 XLT Customer Cash, $500 XLT Bonus Cash, $1750 XLT Luxury, $1000 Ford Credit Bonus Cash, $750 Trade in Assistance Bonus Cash. Or 0% for 60 months. Looks like F150s have some huge discounts also!

RE: Dental Professional Question - Sonicare

My dental hygentist strongly encouraged me over the last 3 visits. She indicated that I was wearing some of the enamel from brushing, and I was going to cause root problems. After 4 months of brushing with it, I am ready to get for each of the daughters.

RE: 2002 Suburban 8.1 / 4L80E

I was looking around for a crew-cab with the 8.1 / Allison combo but even back to the 2002-2006 year range they want double of this suburban. I rarely haul stuff in the bed of the truck and figure the rear will be easier with our two goldens. There is an Extended Cab long bed for about 1,000 more than the burb. What's funny is I hear people talk bad about the 8.1 mpg says it gets a best of 14 highway, and I'm just sitting here thinking I barely break 14 on the highway as it is. Difference is I would have a paid off truck in the next year, rather than paying on one for 5 years. Oh decisions decisions. I can let you know, that you will only see 14 mpg with a wind at your back and down hill at 55mph, if it has the 4.10 rear axle. Also, tires will make a difference. I put a set of GM truck take-offs on mine for the last year that I had, and it pulled my mpg back up to 12-13. It had been there with original stock, but dropped to 10-12 when I put all terrain tires on at 40k. However, it is a great truck. I miss mine.

RE: Which one: Ford F250 6.2 or GM 2500HD 6.0?

I have a 2011 and pull a trailer in the same weight. Have not had any concerns pulling here in Michigan. Also, GM employees can share supplier pricing for friends. All your brother would have to do is ask one of his friends that work at GM.

RE: TV Advice

I am sorry that you have had issues with your 2004 Yukon, but it has been 9 years for GM to improve quality. I do believe that these GM SUVs have won quality and reliability awards in the last few years. You should be also look at payload for the vehicles. I absolutely loved my Suburbans. APT and I continue to wish for each others vehicle. I went to pickup, he went to Burb. He misses the truck bed, I miss the rear cargo for dogs. Also, 2013 may be the last year for 2500 Burbs.

I pull over 8000 lb withe an SUV, I have cheep round bars for my WD hitch and no sway bar. None of my numbers are over. His setup may not have been as bad as it looked. I pray that you do not experience the same fate that was pictured here in early April of an Excursion and long trailer.
