RE: Bean Bag Mount for Garmin Nuvi?

I have a Garmin 7200 (7" Screen) mounted with an aftermarket bean bag/friction. It works great. No movement, jumping around or vibration. I have the Garmin hard mounted in the RV and use the beanbag in the Saturn when we need it there. I really wish I'd used the bean bag in my coach rather than drilling the holes....... Good luck.

RE: Tire Pressure Monitor

How many sensors have you had to go bad? I've had my TST, 10 sensor system on my 36' National and Saturn Vue for less than one year now. I've sent two sensors back alredy and am getting ready to call them to replace another one. Leaking every time. This one has a small crack in the black plastic cover. I'm sure that isn't the issue but it would let rain and dirt in. They have been great with their customer service, I have to admit but in about 4 months they will be out of warranty and I don't want to deal with the $50 charge if they are not going to last over a few months. Anyone else had that many go bad. I've thought it might be me and the way I put them on but I try not to crank down on them. It seems they seal well after you get them seated and it doesn't take a lot of torque. I'm wondering too if I need something with a longer or deeper collar. It has been a different tire each time too. Any Ideas? Just a follow-up to this post I made a few days ago. I got a call from the owner today who was very appologetic about my issues. I am totally satisfied with the response he gave me. They have agreed to replace any bad sensors with new ones and have extended my warranty one year. It don't get much better as far as response goes. As I told him, I'm totally satisfied with the product except for the two sensors. I am more that satisfied that they do not intend to leave me hanging. I know I sound like I work for them but it is seldome I receive such service from someone. DirecTV could take a lesson from them, but that's another story for another day and another forum. Again, Thanks TST, for treating me like a person.

RE: Leave the fridge on or turn it off?

Devices like these seem to last forever when they remain in service. In many cases it seems that they fail to function after being switched off rather than being left in service. The heat from operation keeps the bits dry, reducing corrosion? I don’t know, it’s just that storing system such as this seems to do more harm than good. Certainty doesn’t appear anyone shares my thoughts on this one. I guess I’ll turn it off. I agaree with you and have read somewhere, can't remember where, that due to its nature, this type of refridgeration system is best left on. I only winterize for about 2 months at which time I do turn it off. The rest of the year it is on, even when it is empty.

RE: Tow Car Partially Unhooked

I've replaced all pins with locks. Bought an 8 lock set to keep the key issue manageable. Never worry about pins falling or being pulled out. I do still check if I've been stopped for a while. Good luck.

RE: Why do we still own Motorhomes

The thing here is, it's all by choice. No one made anyone purchase one of these. I can remember thinking, for years, that someday I would have a motorhome and travel the U.S. I studied, lurked, talked to owners, talked to mechanics, talked to anyone who had, ever had, an rv. Then one day I just figured I was saturated with all this knowledge and would take the plunge. I wanted a Class A but all I could afford was a C. I bought it. Used it a year and quickly decided I'd made a terrible mistake. I was a Class A guy riding around in a Class B+ with no place to store all the stuff I had bought. I had a beach box, a mountain box, at Western USA box a Northern USA box...... Depending on where I was going I'd load the appropriate box. Well, something terrible happened. A great company went out of business and many thousands of owners were left standed. I saw my chance. I made an offer on something I could not afford before the Chapter 11. I bought a new 07 National Sea Breeze. That was two years and 11,000 miles ago. I have several empty boxes for sale now that I have a place for every item I've ever purchased. I've been extremely happy with the Breeze. It has had one recall so far on the Dometic Refer. The chassis still has a year warranty and another year on all the other mfg appliances, ac, etc. Would I do it all over again.....heck yes. Will I have trouble down the road, probably. I can fix most things anyway. That's a plus for anyone thinking about it. I'm sure no one mfg has come up with the perfect coach. Some will always be better than others but in the long run, I am extremely happy with the National. It's well within my comfort level to take a chance on something. Especially when I have researched it so well. I'm hoping Prevost goes belly up...........I'll upgrade. Dakota told you that.

RE: Petrified Forest National Park

Went through PFNP last June. Came in from Flagstaff on the way to Albuquerque. It is a great drive plus you get a large size portion of Painted Dessert. We got off I40 headed East and came in the back way which leads through PFNP and back to I 40 in a large circle. I've also heard the one north of Flagstaff is better but for my first time this was a great trip. We drive a 36 ft Class A towing a Saturn Vue and had no problems with pull outs and parking at many of the trails. It is a great trip. We have Senior Pass and it was free for us. 25 buck per vehicle is the normal price. Not sure but I think the free weekend is over for this year. Don't try to enter the park with any open petrified wood. They checked ever 3rd vehicle as we were leaving. They suggest you buy your PW after leaving. The NP store is on the end we exited so we picked up some there. I'm not sure if they really searched any vehicles but they did ask if we had any as we exited. Good luck.

RE: US 129 Maryville, TN to Andrews, NC

Three motorcycle fatalaties this year that I'm aware of. It's affectionatly known as the Dragon. I would not do it. Too many other choices. But, that is just me. I've driven it in an auto and a pickup. I would not attempt it in my Class A (36 ft.). Good luck.

RE: Directv or Dish Network?

Very, no extremely unhappy with DirecTV. I camp a lot in and around East Tennessee, North Carolina and Georgia. DirecTV is very difficult to find signal due to ridges, trees, etc. I just cancelled my service due to this. In Arizona and New Mexico, Oklahoma and some places in Arkansas we got good signals. We were very unhappy with their customer service also. No or at least very slow to respond to any issues. And their telephone loop is nearly as bad a trying to reach a live person at the Social Security office. We may try another service if we ever decide to spend some time out west where there are fewer obsticles. Good luck...........got a nice dish and tripod if anyone is interested, message me.

RE: Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems

TST works great for me. Had mine for two months with 4000+ miles after our trip from Tennessee to Arizona and back. I like the temp monitor as I can see which wheel is heating up. The temp and pressure do work in unison as far as I can see. But, when you see the temp rising and the pressure lowering, you'll know you have a problem even before the alery goes off. Been there, done that. It is a good system as I am sure the others are too. I'm completely satisfied with TST and like their response to my questions I had after I recieved the set. I had one sensor back off and let air out but was able to stop and air it up. That sensor turned out to be bad and a new one was sent to replace it. No questions asked. I did have to buy the relay antenna. Now I can read the toad tires from a block away...... Good luck

RE: Campgrounds on the N.Carolina side of the Smokies

We stay at the Hot Springs Spa and Campground in Hot Springs. Right on the French Broad River. Water and Elect are there but no Wi Fi or Cable. I've not been able to get my DirecTV to work either. You are down in a bowl type valley. Beautiful place, almost primitave like but not. Good luck. www.nchotsprings.com

RE: TPMS question

Mine are 86 front and 96 duals on a 35' National Sea Breeze and that was established by weighing all four corners and all axles. Just returned from a trip to Arizona from Tennessee and back (4k+ miles) The front would rise to 92 up to 94psi on the sunny side of the coach. Temp on the front would run about 110 The rear would rise to 105 up to 112psi on the sunny side of the coach. Temp on the rear duals wolld run about 112 and hit 115 on the sunuy side once. Toad (Sataurn Vue) are run at 35psi. They would rise to 38 on up to 40 on the sunny side. Really neat to watch the temp and pressure go down every time it rained, then rise again as they road dried. I'll never be without TPMS again. I did have one wheel sensor back off and let some air out. The monitor went off, started blinking and I was able to stop and correct the problem. I did put a little drop of Locktite on them after I returned home. Not enough to clog up the sensor and used the medeium grade so I can remove them without much trougle. Good luck,

RE: How to add bleach to fresh water tank?

Watch your toilet when you do this. Id you have some chemicals whcih are on the market in your black tank you could cause a problem when you run this through your toilet. The chemical I use says "Do not add chlorine". Otherwise, add it to the hose. I normally bypass my water heater when doing this except the first time each spring. We circulate the hot water so much all year. Good luck.

RE: Where do have your motorhome weighed

Our DOT here in Tennessee will wiegh my RV any time. You may try your state DOT scales. Tennessee say's it's free to help safe motoring. Works for me. Good luck.

RE: How Many Hours???

Just returned from a 4000 mile trip from East Tennessee to Flagstaff with a stop over in Albuquerque. Took three, nine hour days traveling at about 62-65 mph. Also had dogs with us which added an extra stop every two hours. That, IMHO is too much. I think about 6 hours is it for me and I'm in pretty fair shape and good health for 62. I suspect everyone has a different opinion but setting up after 9 hours on the road just to break down the next morning and hit it again is taxing. DW don't drive. Maybe with a co-driver it would be fine to travel more. Good luck.

RE: Holy *%$#!! My Awning Unravelled At Speed! What the....!?

I use the Awning Lock which keeps the roller from spinning if its prawl fails. It doesn't take the arms coming loose to have a problem. I installed this on my AE awning after reading all the horror stories on here. I did not want to experience this first hand. These install fairly easy. Make sure you follow the directions to the letter, especially the part about alignment with the lock and the end of the roller where the hole has to be drilled. Most times it will line up on the first try but I have had it get stuborn and make me re roll it a time or too. It does lock the awning very well. Good luck

RE: Atlanta, Ga. to Albuquerque, NM

Just got back from Albuquerque and Flagstaff. 4000 miles from Kodak, Tennessee to Flagstaff and back. Son lives in Albuquerque and we go to the Balloon Fiesta every year too. I40 is no problem anywhere between Knoxville and Flagstaff. Cumberland Plateau is your biggest hill coming up I-24 at Monteagle. I-40 is a great route. Olkahoma citizens should be asking their DOT what they do with all the Federal funds for road maintenance. The are pitiful. They are working on them but hold on to your hat. Very narrow work zones will have you riding on the rumble strips in a few places. Shook one of my TST Pressure Sensor on a rear dual loose enough to let air out. Caught it in time when the monitor went off and had to air it up. All in all, it's a great trip on a great road. Good luck.
