RE: Calling all Trolls & Yoopers! Where are the best pasties?

RE: Winter Relaxing

Our two favorite spots have been mentioned......Apache Junction and Yuma. Lots of other neat places in Arizona also. Warmer at lower elevation locations.

RE: Please give me a guess as to when slides were introduced

Newmar is often credited with introducing the world’s first RV slide-out – they debuted their patented power slide out in their Class A units and fivers back in 1990 - but the technology behind a vehicular based slide out solely intended for use in a recreational vehicle was actually patented nearly 70 years earlier in the United Kingdom.

RE: M.S.R.P.

As stated, much depends on situation ie: ordering vs. buying off lot, size of dealer, model year time frame, etc.. We have purchased two new coaches, ordered both and the % off MSRP was in the 25% range in both instances. One ordered in up times (2005) and one in down times for sales (2009). I personally would not talk to a dealer unless the price was in the 25 - 30% range but if a price is in your budget and you like the coach, what difference does the percentage make?

RE: Calling all Trolls & Yoopers! Where are the best pasties?

Haven't really had a bad pasty in the UP but two of my favorites are Muldoon's in Munising and Lawry's near Ishpeming. Can't go wrong on those two.

RE: Scan Gauge 2

One of the handiest tools I have added to my coach. I watch Speed, MPG, Transmission Temp, and Water Temp normally. Fairly accurate and has other features such as trip info and trouble code functions. It's a good addition to the standard monitoring gauges and provides way more info.

RE: Michigan State Parks should offer Seasonal/Monthly Sites

I agree with this, even though I fall into the "know how to beat the system to get good site at peak times crowd". Actually, I know how to do it too thanks to what I've read on the forums but that doesn't make it right or fair. Not sure what they could do to eliminate the problem. Having seen what some "long-term" and "seasonal" campers have done to certain private parks, I'm convinced that will never happen in our beautiful State Parks here in Michigan. The 2 week rule seems logical.

RE: Michigan State Parks should offer Seasonal/Monthly Sites

Would have to agree with the NO crowd. Our State Parks are some of the most beautiful in the country and I would be against turning any part of any of them into a long term stay situation. The current two week rule is abused and misused as it is and I think long-term stays would just lead to more abuses. I would rather fight to change the current reservation system as many people have figured how to beat it to get good sites at peak times and have even posted it on this and other forums.

RE: Wood Sign to Post on Campsite

You might try here: RV Signs Relatively inexpensive and durable, we bought one in Florida at the Ft. Myers RV show several years ago.

RE: Motorhome License Tags in Michigan

It's obvious from the responses that MH tag prices are all over the map here in Michigan, even for coaches of somewhat like value and age. The DP's cost more than gassers because their initial value is higher. Not sure how we ever got to this system, doesn't seem fair to me but guess the thinking is if you can afford a higher priced vehicle....you can afford higher license fees.

RE: Motorhome License Tags in Michigan

$700 sounds high to me. My fee this year is $368 with a newer coach of higher initial value. Even when new my fee was not that high. There has to be something else in the quoted figure. Not sure what your transfer fee would be and maybe that's part of it.

RE: 2010 Hyundai Accent Auto Trans Towing

I have a 2001 model, use Roadmaster towing equipment (baseplate and tow bar) and Brake Buddy. Have towed it probably 20 to 30K miles in the past 7 years. Makes a great toad but now have a Ford Escape I tow most of the time. Sorry, don't know any Hyundai engineers and even my local dealer is a little light on towing knowledge. Go to Remco's web site for needs to tow your vehicle: Remco

RE: 2010 Hyundai Accent Auto Trans Towing

The Accent can be towed with the proper lube pump and base plate. No worries about "structural" issues.......I have towed an Accent for 7 years but mine is standard transmission and doesn't need the lube pump.

RE: Campsite near Carlsbad Caverns in NM

We stayed at Carlsbad RV Park just south of Carlsbad on 180, only about 15 miles to the park entrance.

RE: Mammoth Cave KY. Campground Suggestions?

There is a KOA at the Horse Cave exit on I65 and Cave Country RV and Jellystone at the Cave City exit which are closer to the park.

RE: I pad Verizon month to month data plan

We have used the Verizon pre-pay plan for several years in our travels. Works for me.....you are correct in that you only buy what you need and can jump in and out any time. They offer daily, weekly, and monthly plans.

RE: Question on the map of states visited...

The rules are there are no rules. Most people probably use "states visited with my RV".....we do.

RE: DIODE WIRING KIT

Hi Ho: Apparently nobody wants to sign up for simply connecting the coach lights to the toad lights. I wonder why? Diodes are recommended because they permit electrical current to flow in only one direction - from the motorhome to the car - preventing electrical feedback and the damage it can cause to the towed car's electrical components.

RE: DIODE WIRING KIT

I used a similar product when setting up my 2010 Ford Escape for towing. A little pricier than the item you asked about but works well and was very easy to install. TowDaddy
