RE: Proof Of Liability for Pets

Most RV parks have a out in many cases. And thats very common all Dogs must be on a leash. That doen't mean you can't get bitten because being on a leash want keep you from getting bitten. I have a large fur Kid 92 lbs today and he has been bitten 4 times by small dogs. But I agree some poeple don't need a dog of any kind. GBY.....

RE: MDT owners

Jarlaxle, what was or is the problem with the Freighliner M2 cabs. Sounds like you have been driving the base Freightliner??? I have a 2006 Freightliner with the Mercedes Diesel and it also has been upfited with extra sound proofing and all the bells and whistles etc. The seats and interior is awesome and as for the ride the only thing better I have ever driven is the Volve 770, the 770 rode better than the Freightliners and Peterbilts. This isn't the first Diesel I have driven and the Cab is as good if not better than any other Truck I have driven. The only compliant is the rear needs more weight, whem Bob-tailing you really have to watch how much you mash the right foot. GBY....

RE: What would you do?

To the OP you have a good heart but you will never be able to convince some that a Walmart isn't a Campground. I will never understand why anyone would park a nice Motor Home or 5th wheel in a Walmart Parking lot. I just don't understand why people take a chance in getting their Loved ones killed just to save a few dollars. I will admitt we did on our first trip in a RV stayed in a Walmart parking lot, that was the worse night I have ever spent in a RV. GBY......

RE: Tire Pressure Monitors

I highly recomend the Pressure Pro System. I have used the PP system on several Trucks. I'm using the Pressure Pro System on our Freightliner and the Mobile Suites and were 57' in length and I use no reapter. I'm send you a PM with some good people to deal with. GBY.....

RE: Chucking and Freeway Hop

My experience is somewhat different. I have owned standared pin boxes, Mor/Ryde and Trailair pin boxes. I have also owned Trailer Saver Air ride hitches. They all performed well. I think the Trailer Saver is the best Air ride hitch on the market. Those system will help with chucking. However the ride can only be made better with Air ride seats. We have owned 5 GM 3500HDs and the ride wasn't good in any of them. With the seats anchored and want move the seats are constantly slap your back when on ruff roads or concrete dividers. We have owned two Trucks with Air ride seats and thats the only way you will get a good and comfortable ride. My wife has fibromyalgia and just couldn't take the ride of the 1 ton Trucks without the air ride seats. This is based on our experience. And we have had pin weights from 3,500 to over 4,000 lbs and we had no chucking. But still had the bad and harsh ride and a pain in the back. We have Air ride custom Captains seat and they also are oscilating. Good Luck with your situation, we know your pain. GBY.....

RE: Ran My Diesel Out Of Fuel

Should never let a Truck get below 1/4 of a tank. When the Freightliner gets to 1/4 of a tank which still leaves me about 40 gals I always take on fuel. Always be very careful when re-fueling keep it clean. GBY...

RE: Is a GMC 3500 enough for a 18,500# Teton

You will be over the GVWR for towing and pin weight. The GM 3500HD series will pull that weight and the Allison is bullet proof. I pulled 25,600 lbs gross for thousands of mile including the rockies. However I did have Disk brakes on the 5th wheel. I really think any 5th wheel over 34' should have Disk brakes. I would get a real (MDT) not a pick-up Truck if I were going to pull that weight. My 2008 Chevy LTZ 3500HD 4x4 with all options with a over the rail tool box the weight was 8,560 lbs. Good Luck with your choice. The Teton is a awesome 5th wheel but its very heavy as is most 5th wheels that use good materail in the building process. GBY....

RE: Proof Of Liability for Pets

No, only question we have been ask was how big he was (weight). We have never had any problems except with little dog. Montana weight is 88 lbs and he has been bitten 4 time by little dogs. I now try to keep him away from little dogs. We do carry all his Medical records and have only had to show them at places who do Grooming etc. GBY....

RE: MDT owners

I do know that Cat has quit puting the Cat in over the Road Trucks (Class 8). The International Diesel engines have great power plants. What I have read some of the smaller engines need more HP. But if it were I the International 4400 Lo Pro would be what I would buy that was our second option. I have a Mercedes Diesel in our 2006 Freighliner M2, but have only put about 6,000 mile on the clock so for, it had 50,000 miles on the clock when I bought the Truck. You do know that the F-450 has a International Diesel engine. GBY...

RE: Man Shot in Walmart Parking Lot (rv'er)

We don't do any Wally Docking and safety is one of the many reasons. Sorry to hear the man was shot by a low life vermin. Folks its going to get worse. Our Country is well known for people wanting something for nothing. I have a C/C and I'm alway packing heat, and will continue. Common sense will tell you people who are traveling might have money on board. Texas is a great State as for taking out a low thief, it is legal to use deadly force against a Thief. To bad the victim wasn't able to "FUBAR" this low life vermin. Better wake up America there is Change and its getting worse. GBY....

RE: How much off MSRP?

Who knows what is right. I do know everyone buys Trucks and RV's cheaper than I do, or so they tell me, heck I have always payed to much. As for as what is a fair price or how much a manufactor/dealership should make. I don't have a clue. I think if your not happy move on. Who should determine what people make or how much, well it seems there are some in this Country who can make that decision. I'm just so Blessed to be were I'm at. I do know we have spent thousands of dollars to get here. But all the decisions that were made were made by us. And we are very happy, and thats all that matters. Just go were your gut tells you and what ever you pay be happy. Life is Good. GBY....

RE: Weld or Bolt Fifth Wheel Brackets?

Depends on what type Truck you have for 1 ton Trucks and below I would use the bolt on brakets. Always remember with re-using a 5th wheel always use new hardware for the bolts and brakets. When in the past I traded Trucks I always left the bedrails in and bought new bedrails and hardware. Now if if you have a HDT/MDT I would weld it in. I can imagine putting 8 3/4" bolt holes in the frame rails to secure the 1/2" flat plate to Frame rails. GBY....

RE: Trailer Saver Hitch

I have owned the Trailer Saver TS3 and now have the Trailer Saver TSLB2H, just as the name implies, its a Trailer Saver. As for as a 5th wheel Air ride Hitch Trailer Saver is the best money can buy IMO. Call Trailer Saver direct to get the price and they will ship. Ordered mine and in 5 days it was drop shipped to our shop. I have never had a problem with a Trailer Saver. Most HDT/MDT haulers are using the Trialer Saver. They are pricey but so is your 5th wheel. Lately there seems to be a lot of frame issues, Trailer Saver takes a lot of stress off your 5er. Another point we have a standard pin box and have no chucking at all. Good Luck with your decision. GBY.....

RE: 5ver inside

We have a 40' by 50' pole bark or thats what we call them. Our 5er in under cover when we are at home base. We go South for the winter, we have never winterized our 5th wheel they are always connected ot a 50 amp service. We are considering selling the stick house and if we do. Our next building will be 40' x 60' fully inclosed and insulated with 24' roll up doors on each end. And will have a Texas room also. GBY....

RE: Big Horn Vs Montana

As stated all RV's will have issues, some big some small. As for Montana's having suspensions issues. Yes there has been some issues however if you do a little research you will find the Montana brand by Keystone has been the best or I should say the number 1 selling 5th wheel brand in the USA for the past 8 years so that should tell you they must be doing something right. No I don't own a Montana but we do travel often and the Montana brand is in every RV park I have been in. I'm begining to believe that the suspension problem is weight for the suspension they are using?? Because several who have had suspension problems also were hauling over their GVCW. Thats just my Opinion, based on what I have read and seen. No one but the person who has had a suspension issue knows their weights. I do think that the suspensions on most 5th wheel over 34' should have a heavier suspension than they are running. I believe at the very least there should be 7,000 axles and G rated tires and American made! But research is the key to buying the right RV. GBY...

RE: What To Use To Check Electrical Before Hookup

I have a Surge protector that checks the electrical system before it allows current into the RV. It is the portable type 50 amp. I got it at Camping World, it was under #300.00. The last one lasted almost 5 years, there are many different types on the market. GBY....

RE: Backup Camera

When we ordered our 2010 Mobile Suites, we included the option of a rear Camera. Its called Zone Defense, It has a 5" Color monitor and has Audio also. It can also have side mounted cameras to monitor all blind spots. The Freightliner has its own rear Camera. When put into reverse it automatically turn both rear Cameras on, or it has a button on the dash which can activate the Cameras while rolling down the road. The Camera on the Rear of the Mobile Suites is real handy when passing, we double tow and we are long. GBY...... P.S. I highly recomend the Rear Cameras.

RE: Stock 8.1 pulling 15k pounds without damage ?

Tuners and Chips aren't needed in the Duramax!!!! The Allison is designed to not hurt the Transmission because of misuse thats why the limp mode. I have owned several Duramax/Allisons and they have plenty of HP and Torq, and we have alway towed heavy 5th wheels and never ever had a Temp issue of any type. Almost every issue is because of mis-use or abuse. But its your choice if you want to put a $500.00 dollar gadget on a $12,000 power plant which is a proven Combo the Duramax/Allison. If it had needed the gadget it would have been installed by GM. GBY.....

RE: Air Bags for F450?

It seem that the Ford Super Duties do sag a little when you drop a heavy 5th wheel on them (Mobile Suites etc.). I believe Ford did use a lighter spring package. I think it was to make the ride better when not under load. The Chevy 2008 3500HD DRW's under a Mobile Suites 36 TK 3 dropped 2" and the Pin weight was 3,800 lbs. I have never owned a Ford but have seen under heavy 5th wheels. GBY.......
