Supplemental Brake

We have a 2011 Jeep Liberty. We would like to hear from anyone who has this specific vehicle and find out which supplemental brake they are using. We have a new Class C and need to tow this specific jeep. I understand there are many different ones out there and have researched them but would like to hear from someone who owns the 2011 Jeep Liberty. The floorboard near the divers seat is very narrow. We need to know also if anyone has a solution to the problem of the battery discharging as you tow.

RE: Brake system for 2011 Jeep Liberty

It was a new unit and what seemed to be the problem was that when the brake was applied the unit was too wide because our floor of the jeep on the side goes up at an angle and would start climbing up that side even though it was all the way back to the seat. There wasn't anything wrong with the Patriot. The Rv place called Patriot and Patriot said that they had a call from someone else about that happening on their 2011 Jeep Liberty.

Brake system for 2011 Jeep Liberty

Just had Blue Ox tow bar and base plate put on our Class C and 2011 Jeep Liberty and when they tried to put the Patriot Brake System in our Jeep the floor space is too small near the seat for it to fit and work. They worked for over an hour adjusting and it is so narrow near the seat it would send it into error. So now we are looking for a new system and am considering the Invisibrake, the Stay-in-Play Duo, or the Roadmaster Brake Master. Has anyone had any problems with any of these systems, or does anyone have any of these systems and would recommend them.

RE: 2012 Jeep Patriot Lattitude toad

We had finally decided to get a new Jeep Liberty in 2013 to tow behind our motorhome. Guess what, they are dropping the Liberty starting in 2013, so now we are looking again. We want either a Ford,Jeep,Chevy,Chrysler product. Back to the drawing board for more research.

RE: 2012 Jeep Patriot Lattitude toad

Thanks, I got on the Jeep website and downloaded the manuals and found out that the only 2012 Jeeps that can be flat towed are the Liberty, Wrangler, and the Grand Cherokee, but not the Grand Cherokee SRT. Thanks for telling me about the Jeep Website.

2012 Jeep Patriot Lattitude toad

We are looking at a 2012 Jeep Patriot Lattitude to pull behind our 32 ft Class C. Does anyone know if they can be pulled 4 down and do you have to do anything to the drive shaft. We will be pulling out west in the mountains so I know we need a brake buddy type of thing. It is a 4X4. We are checking out different Jeeps and different salesmen tell us different things. We don't know who to believe.

RE: Dolly vs. 4 Down

We have just purchased a tow dolly as our car can't be towed 4 down. We have the wheel straps but my question is, we think we should use a safety chain connecting the car to the dolly but don't know where you hook the safety chain or strap to on the car. What do you use, chain, straps, etc.?
