RE: setting up permanent , full time living

If your rig is RV type you will need to cycle your black holding tank. Let it fill then dump. Don't open it up and let it run all the time or you will have problems.
Decide if you are goning to rely on propane or electric for heat. If your going propane get larger tanks.
Might want to get a whole house water filter coming in.
If your going to be full timing, a secondary water heater. I have a 2 1/2 gal 110volt serves only the bath. That with the factory 6 gal you can get a decent shower.

RE: Inside Stairs

We just traded our 2004 Sandpiper which had the same problem. There were 2 tread/risers then the landing which covered a 28" vertical rise, almost 10" high steps. I believe the code around here for residential is about 7 1/2" rise. What I did was build a set of steps over the existing ones which made 3 tread/risers and a landing. It made a world of difference.
Something like this turn 2 steps into 3. I did this for my wife when she had foot surgury and we liked it so much it has stayed. I carpeted it after we desided to keep it. Had to leave it just set over the existing steps so it can be pulled up to open a cabinet on the side of the second original step.

RE: Soft Propane cover in Black?

I have a couple #100 tanks. I filled one on a cold day then things warmed up. And yes it did vent. And it was properly filled by a Suburban professional. Ambient air pressure and temp changes can cause a tank to vent. It is a white tank, uncovered.

RE: Brands of Diesel fuel?

More important is to get your diesel from a high-volume station that consistently turns over the diesel contents in its tanks (i.e. truck stops, etc.)
Kentucky_Joe, let me take this a little futher. The reson to go with the high volume stations is to avoid condensation in the tanks. Water in Diesel fuel turn into alge. Alge plugs everything and has to be treated.
Welcome to the Diesel owners world. Find a brand specific diesel forum and read. You will save a lot of money and greif if you learn about your new truck. If it's GM family I suggest thedieselpage/forum. Lots of down to earth people there, not a bunch of _______, well you fill in that space.

RE: OK all you plumbing experts- need help with suburban valves!

Well now,
My guess would be valvues (counting from the bottom) are,
1 drain
2,3,&4 some sort of bypass
the rest to isolate parts of the system
You are going to have to do a little tracing, but I figure you have already done that and your just messing with us.
I would think there is a way to valve out water pump when on city water. And probably a second or auxilery water heating source or filtering system.
Or someone wanted to be able to shut down feed to fausets/toilet without having to shut all water off.

The first of four parts in a solar power tutorial I've written, describing in more detail the installation methods we used on our TT, our fifth wheel and then for an even bigger system on our sailboat:

RE: Spray in bed liner and hitch

Those spray in liners work good, my brotherlaw had a bunch of little kids that make a mess of everything. He just had it sprayed in side his old Rv,floor, walls, coach, table everything. Boy he said it is easy to clean, just take the hose and spray it out kids and all.
Would that be an inch and a half fire hose??

RE: Adding Baggage Door to Slide out?

Mine has a baggage door to an area behind my sofa. About 3 1/2 feet tall, 7 1/2 feet long and 1 foot deep. Came that way on mine so there is no reason you cant add one. The hard part is do you have aluminum or wood stringers in your wall and where are they located.

RE: Dog watching with Internet Camera

Had a neighbor with a motorhome and he had 3 tablets set up each with their own web cam. He found a program simular to the traffic cameras, they only record when there is movement and there was a website he could monitor it from. Got email alerts when there was something going on.
He had one down each side and one out the front window. He never had any theft problems. Just placed the web cams in the windows looking out.

RE: DIY PVC Pipe Projects

I made two covers to go over my sky lites to cut down on the suns heat glaring in. Used 45s on the upper corners, 90s pvc to theaded pipe on the bottom runs. Used black iron for the weight. Wrapped the iron pipe with pipe insulation and covered the top with smoked corragated plexy. someday I might figure out how to post pics.

RE: Outside wireless phone antenna

I have AT&T wf720 wireless home phone receiver and looking for a source for an outside antenna. I did a couple google searches and the Yagi looks good but I don't like the price. $160 for a small outside antenna.
850 MHz to 1900 MHz operating range
RP-TNC connectionWhat exactly are you trying to accomplish?
Better reception. Lite for service goes back and forth from green to yellow.

RE: Oilfield Potatoes

Used to do that way back in the Boy Scouts. Used Bisquick and powdered milk. Add water to make a dough in the foil, close up and make biscuits on the side of the fire.
Anybody seen the way back machine?
