What makes a Newmar so much better in the cold?

The impression I get is that a Newmar Class A will perform much better in cold conditions(below freezing)than any other rig? Can you guys explain why? This may be the tipping point between a Tiffin or Newmar for us. Thanks as always.

Check out the THOR rigs. They have some nice new ones that sound like they have what you are looking for. Dont know if there are used ones or not. Are they considered a quality brand like the others I have mentioned? I ask because I dont know.

I would definitely take a look at how the little things are finished. Which one shows the most good workmanship in finishing? I would lean toward the Newmars in your list for general construction and quality. The wall construction will not be subject to delamination because they are not a laminated wall. Newmar will also post the R factor of insulation. Their AC is a ducted system that is very quiet when operating. Wife leaning Tiffin I'm leaning Newmar....I think the Tiffin issues are way less now and in the 35 ft size model.

Was that $1200 or $120,000? To help you decide on what RV to buy you could go to www.rvknowhow.com and read Joe and Vicki’s suggestions and/or download their e-book `RV Buyers Homework’, which walks you through the process of choosing the best RV for your needs, selecting the right floor plans and features, determining the RV’s cargo-carrying and towing capacities and evaluating its livability. (Nov-Dec Highways, pg. 21) RVtravel.com and the Better Business Bureau have a DVD that covers the same subject and Chuck Woodbury has an ebook with similar advice that can be instantly downloaded from www.rvbookstore.com.. Homework, thank you.

RE: Please comment on our list of choices...pros and cons.

The Motor homes on your list in my opinion are not in the same class, for example, you listed a Fleetwood Discovery and a Fleetwood Bounder, one is "upper end" and the other is more "entry level" as are others in your list. I hope this helps some, Bill I figure it will be either a new gasser or used deisel. I don't have an bias towards one or the other. If I can't find the used deisel at a price I like then new gasser(or slightly used) it is.

Chris, you do not say what year, but the Fleetwood Discovery 40g or the Forrest River Berkshire 390BH because they are used, bigger, and more HP. Between those two, which one has more slides, but check how much CCC before buying anything. Thanks, anything used would I like it to be only 3yrs old or less.

Please comment on our list of choices...pros and cons.

We are getting narrowing down the field of candidates. Budget is about $1200,00. They are: New/used Tiffin Allegro Open Road 35QBA New/used Newmar Canyon Star 3810 Used Forrest River Berkshire 390BH Used Newmar Ventana LE 38 Used Fleetwood Discovery 40g (I like the U shaped dinett the most) I could be talked into Winnabego Vista 35b Fleetwood Bounder 34b All are bunks and I wish I found more with a U shaped Dinett and King Bed. We would like to have those 2 items in coach. What should I keep on the list what should I take off. Thanks.

RE: Looking at Allegro 35QBA....advice please

Tiffin 35QBA seems to be the leader thus far.... I was wishful of finding the Dp of similar quality (tiffin or newmar or Discovery G) a couple years old on the cheap.(same cost) I may post this in a diff thread.....about where to buy?????? I am in Northeast with no dealers around me..... Thanks for all the words of wisdom.

RE: Looking at Allegro 35QBA....advice please

The best advice is to visit the Tiffin Forum -- not owned by the company. Without question, it is the most active and intelligent forum around. You'll find in depth information from actual owners of the model - and you can ask all your own questions. You can also ask about dealers and how to deal. Thanks for the suggestion....i did. I figure here I would the opinion of owners of other brands and experiences....keeping my ears open. Thanks all for the replies. Still learing here.

Looking at Allegro 35QBA....advice please

We went to Rockland County RV show today. Wife went into the Allegro 35QBA and fell in love with it. Now time to do the homework...what other makes and models should we compare to at that price point. This way I know we make the right decision. Any other suggestions would be appreciated... Thanks, Chris
