Good morning everyone. We had some thunderstorms roar through last night dumping lots of rain. Some folks in the area are without power as trees fell on power lines. We are safe this morning still with power so we can carry on with our daily routines.
Mama is hanging in there but I will be happy when next Friday gets here so she can have her miracle therapy. The Old Fella Rally is getting closer as we look forward to Branson. Sue and I are excited about seeing friends there and enjoying the fellowship we always have.
I am so sore this morning from playing Golf yesterday on one of the most difficult courses in the area. What a challenge it was for me on each hole as my second shot was always a long one to reach the green. Each par three was long except for one which was 95 yards. The others were anywhere from 185 – 190 yards. Would you believe I pared the one that was 180 with a perfect shot to the green with a four iron. It was a beautiful day and I enjoyed being outside with the nice weather.
When I got home Mama was waiting for me at the door with that “Where in the world have you been? I have been waiting for you all day and not a word from you!” She soon gave into some soft word of “Hello Mama.” That made everything okay. Okay I need to get moving toward the shower. We need to pray for the people in Oklahoma who were caught in the tornado. So many people hurting and homeless.
Everything is well here in the Deep South. The girls are doing okay after eating their breakfast. I am going to start with the cleanup of the camper this weekend. We have only been out twice this year so far. The black streaks are long and deep and will take a lot of elbow grease to get them off. Wash and wax is what it needs and hopefully that is what it will get.
When we get back from the rally our pastor has a lot of work lined up for me for the rest of the summer so I will be busy doing the Lord's work.
We had a meeting last night with the Men's group from the church with hamburgers and homemade cake. Afterwards we had a nice devotion and then broke for the evening. It was nice and cool outside which made it nice to be outside.
Okay the girls are waiting on me to get ready so I will leave for now and talk with you later.

I had the same problem so I bought a new one and that took care of the problem. The girls don't like the noise and I was afraid of it going off when we were not there. That would be awful for the girls to have to endure that until we got back from where-ever.
This morning it is very foggy but warm. The high today is supposed to be 82 degrees with a 30% chance of rain. I had planned a nice quiet day so I could watch after Mama. She really needs this Stem-Cell therapy. I will be so glad when she is able to walk and climb steps again without pain.
Gary I hope you get your problem resolved so that you don't have to worry with it on your trip to Branson.

What a way to start the morning. Its raining out so the sound of the rain really doesn't encourage one to get out of bed. So I snuggled under the covers thinking about breakfast. Suzie and Peaches had other ideas and wanted to get outside to take care of business. So after a few short winks I finally got up and let them out. I really wasn't ready to face the day so I crawled back into bed for a few more precious moments of sleep.
Finally I got up and let the girls in. Mama cruised the yard looking for something interesting to sniff so she was the last one in. I watched her climb the steps as she painfully made her way up on the patio and I said to myself, "Just a few more days and you will have your miracle to walk without pain."
The Old Fella Rally is just around the corner. I hope we have some last minute guest to sign up. Sue and I are looking forward to seeing our good friends that we haven't seen in a while. Down through the years we have enjoyed the fellowship at the Old Fella Rally. We have met some wonderful people that we cherish with all of our heart. As mentioned before this will most likely will be the last Old Fella Rally for us as age and other physical things have come our way that is going to make traveling a problem. So we look forward to seeing everyone this June and enjoy the friends that we have come to know and love.

Gary Molly and Shadow look like they enjoy each others company. That's good when that happens because it keeps them from being lonely when you are not there.
It is raining here this morning and the weatherman says we will have rain for the next five days. This has been a very wet spring not to mention the cool temperatures. I guess when we have those high temps in July and August it will make us appreciate the weather we are having now.
The girls are doing well taking a morning nap after breakfast. Mama is holding her own waiting on her therapy in two weeks while I wait with bated breath to see this miracle take place. There is a lot of golf activity in Greenville area this weekend as the PGA hosts a Celebrity Tournament . There are playing on three golf courses at the same time . The BMW Tournament has been the most interesting held at a course in Greer, South Carolina.
Okay I need to get moving so I will close for now, talk with you later.

Shadow on the dash. That sounds like a good mystery novel. Could there be something in the near future? Gary it sounds like there is a lot of love going on there. I am glad for you and Shadow, sounds like a match made in heaven.
Sue made a stew yesterday and there was a lot of gravy left for the girls this morning. When I put the food bowls down no one came up for air except Suzie who ate what she wanted and left the rest for later today. Suzie has been leaving food in her bowl and wanting it later. She will eat two or maybe three times in a day until it is all gone. The problem is Hobo watches and waits for a chance to gobble it down. So I have to pick it up and put it back down several times until Suzie tells me she is done. So what are Dads for anyway?
One of the baby birds got pushed out of the nest that is on the patio and when I found the baby it was too late to save it. I will keep a better watch on the babies from now on until they are able to take care of themselves.
Okay I need to go and get ready to walk the girls, so I will leave for now and talk with you later.

Good morning. I hope everyone is happy and well this morning. The fur babies are all doing okay. It is just two weeks away for Mama to receive her therapy, can hardly wait. I had a nice breakfast this morning and now I want to go back to bed. Sue mentioned going back to the landfill and getting more mulch for the flowers beds, I hope she forgets.
We are exactly one month away from leaving for Branson. I am looking forward to this year's rally and getting to see some dear friends we haven't seen on a while. I just hope Mama does well with her treatment and is able to come with us, that would make my summer complete.
When we get back from Branson I will look into getting the test my doctor wants. Okay I have to go get ready to take the girls for their morning walk. Have a blessed day and I will talk with you later.

Adequan, Metacam, and other meds are all stop gap measures as they help the symptoms but are not the cure. They can prolong life but they also can have some bad side effects. The Stem Cell therapy seems to be the best of both worlds as it cures the problem with no side effects. For Mama we have reached the end of the line with the meds and for her without the Stem Cell therapy she will not last the summer. This morning she had a hard time getting up and moving around, remember she is on Adeguan, Metacam and Tramadol at a cost of about $400 per month. The Stem Cell therapy will cost $2,100 so it will pay for itself in just a few months and make Mama a much happier camper. When we first started the treatment with Adequan we could see a big change but as time went on it became less help to her. When she got her shot the other morning she was fine that day but as time went on she began struggling again.
When we get to Branson I hope everyone will get to see a new Mama or at least an improved Mama. We will only have two weeks for her to improve after the procedure before we get to Branson, so we hope for the best in such a short time.

Like Dr. Doug said it is given by injecting Adeguan under the skin. It is expensive about $200.00 for two bottles which lasts Mama for almost 45 days. Mama shows a good response to it so I can say that it helped her a lot. In the beginning Mama got one shot a week to build up the system and then given as needed.
Come to South Carolina and I can line you up with Blue Ridge Animal Hospital. You can camp in out back yard as we have a spot with full hook up so you can stay while your fur baby get the treatment.

Not yet, but for a one eyed seventy-two year of man that was a good beginning. My son-in-law was impressed with the way I hit the driver and my short game around the greens wasn't that bad.
I really enjoyed myself yesterday and Jeff is such a great guy to be around, so all in all it was a very enjoyable day.
The girls are doing well this morning. Mama got her last shot of Adequan this morning so I know she will be happy about that. I don't know how quick she will be taken off the meds she is on once the stem-cell therapy is done but I am looking forward to that.
When I think of Mama and how much we love her I am so glad she came to live with us. There is no doubt that we have given her a very good and happy four years and five months and with the new procedure she will have a few more to enjoy herself if nothing else goes wrong with her.
I am looking forward to Branson this year and the Old Fella Rally. This is always a highlight of my life. Okay I need to get moving so have a blessed day and hug the fur babies for me.

The vet called today to say Mama's blood work came back fine. no problems at all, so now we wait for them to call and give the date for the stem-cell therapy.
Today was a beautiful day. I spent much of it with my son-in-law Jeff playing golf. This was the first time in eight years I played, don't ask about the score, however I did par two holes on the back nine.

Looking forward to seeing you again. Currently KC is in knee deep of snow. 8-12 feet of snow mounds everywhere where roads where plowed.
Treasure Lake is looking forward to seeing the rally again this year. Anyone needing cabins, please let me know when you are staying so they can be reserved early. Remember no money collected. After reviewing the X-Rays Dr. York commented on how well Mama got around with the hips the way they were. So she said as much as Mama wants to go and get around her determination will do the healing once she has everything in place for that to happen. Dr. York also said it is easy to see the bond between you and Mama and that is what’s keeping her going.

If you have been following the Old Fella thread you have read about Mama receiving the new Stem-Cell therapy this month. We are now planning on Mama being able to travel with us to the rally. This miracle therapy isn't wide spread across the country but is gaining support from Vets across the United States. I am taking Mama in this morning to get her first exam and approval for the procedure. If all goes well in a few weeks Mama will be a new dog able to climb steps into the camper and run again without pain.

Good morning. Yesterday was a beautiful spring day. It was in the 80's for thr first time this year. Sue and I went to the land fill and got a load of mulch so she can play in the yard.
Mama is going to the vet this morning for her exam so she can have the Stem-Cell therapy this month. I am so excited for her words cannot express the joy I have to know she has another chance at having a pain free life. I am hoping I can get them to move up the date for her surgery to give her more time for this therapy to work before we leave for Branson.
Gary why don't you bag up some snow and bring it with you to the rally for a door prize:B

Good morning. Today is the start to a beautiful day. Yesterday I went to the driving range and hit some golf balls and I was pleased with myself. I am going to get rid of the trifocals so I can see the ball at my feet and then I will be better yet. I have tried Sue’s reading glasses which are +1-1/2 and they are prefect. With the trifocals I am losing sight of the ball on the backswing so I am guessing where the ball is on the downswing, but I have managed to do well even with that handicap. Oh the excitement of getting old never ceases to amaze me.
Mama and the others in the fur gang are well this morning. They are pouting because I put the flea stuff on them this morning. I wonder if that stuff burns them or irritates the skin in some way? Mama will go hide while Suzie will lay in sulk, Peaches and Hobo will run and rub themselves on the carpet. Ava said her dog Abby just hates the stuff and she has seen where it does burn the skin so she has stopped using it.
Today I am going to get yard mulch at the landfill so Sue can spread it in the flower beds. The mulch is free and it is just a few miles up the road from us so it is an easy trip. Now for the news concerning my health issues. My doctor is concerned with some of the test results and is urging me to go to a specialist for further test. My PSA is high according to her and she wants a biopsy done. The problem with that is I can’t get in to see the specialist until the end of May or the first of June. All of this interferes with Mama’s Stem-Cell Therapy and our trip to Branson for the Old Fella Rally. I am going to take care of Mama first because her clock is ticking very fast and she needs to have this therapy done ASAP. I am not going to miss the Old Fella Rally in Branson because this may be the last one I will be able to attend.
That said I am going to leave all of this up to God and prayer and hope all turns out for the best, if not so be it. Okay I need to go and get ready to face the day. Here is wishing everyone a blessed day.

Bad night. The doctor prescribed new medicine Fenofibrate. I took it at 6:am last night and woke up this morning with a mad itch and a rash. So I am done with any Cholesterol medicine. I have suffered muscle pain, memory loss and upset stomach enough. I guess you are going to die with something so don't make yourself sick trying to stay healthy.
Mama is doing well this morning at least a well as she can be. But soon and very soon she will receive the Stem Cell therapy and I am hoping this will give her a new lease on life.
Suzie is playing the I don’t want to eat game. She is holding out for people food and when she finally gets hungry enough she will eat her dog food. I heard someone say once concerning a cat that wouldn't eat, "I have been young and now I am old and there is one thing I have never seen. That's a skeleton of a cat lying next to a full plate of food."
Okay I am leaving to get ready to face the day. I hope everyone has a blessed day and that all of your family is well.
