RE: Camping World of Columbia SC

I can't address the problem with the phone call but I totally agree with you about the parking problem at the Columbia store. Two years ago I was in the area heading home to NC and exited off the interstate and drove a few miles out of the way to get to the store. When I got there the was no way to get into the parking lot. I had to go up the road and drive through a car lot to get turned around. I called the store and asked about the parking problem and was told the sales people took all the space to park their rolling stock on.
Of all the Camping World stores I have been to only two had sufficient room to pull a motor home and toad through the parking lot and get back out on the road. Most are near an Interstate road but they don't leave us much room to pull in with our rigs and get back out.:?

RE: Splendide load size?

Go to this web site http://aboutrving.com/bookstore.php and go to the bottom of the page and order the book about Wrinkle Free RV Laundry. It is written by a lady that spent about two years testing how to get the most out of the Splendid Combo washer/dryer. We have one and my wife bought the book - studied it and she does what the books says and has no problems using the combo. The combo will do what the books says it will.
She has washed/dried 3 loads in the last 2 days - jeans, towels, shirts, etc. And yes you can wash with the grey tank valve closed if you watch you tank levels and if you have enough capacity. We have a 70 gallon grey tank and she washed two loads and we both took showers and washed dishes, etc. and the See Level monitor showed less than 50% full.

RE: Blue Ridge Parkway in the fall

The NP campgrounds on the BRP don't have hookups and very few sites that a 38'+ motor home fit into. Julian Price CG near Blowing Rock has about 8 or so but on some you will have a problem getting level. The loop on the left (I think it is loop A) heading to Asheville from Blowing Rock has 4 that are fairly level. The area for the MH on two are just wide places in the street but if you get close to the curb you will be okay. Just be careful that you don't get your steps hung up on the curb. DAHIKT.:(

RE: MCD Shade questions

We had the day/night shades on our last MH but the MCD duals came on the current MH. The MCD are MUCH better. Our windshield shades are electric but all others are manual. The day shade blocks the view from outside during the day and even at night you can't see inside unless there is lots of inside lights on and then it is not a clear view at all.
You will like them IMHO.

RE: Smokey Mtn.Nat'l.Pk-Too Hot?

Another vote for Smokemont. We camped there the last of August 2011 in Loop F for 3 nights. Very quite and nice place to take walks and ride bikes through all the loops. We saw wild turkey almost every morning and one morning we saw Elk about a mile from the CG beside the road. If you get too hot just lay down in the stream that runs through the CG and you WILL cool off really quick. There are NO hookups or showers, only restrooms with an outside sink.
It is a beautiful CG with lots of sites. I believe it would be used much more if at least it had hot showers. When we were there Loop F was about 3/4 full with self contained RVs, but in three days we probably didn't see over a dozen sites used in all the other loops and most of those were just overnight stays.
There is a nice outdoor museum just down the road in the park and a working grist mill nearby.Mingus Mill.

Parking a RV at Camping World

I find it rather strange that Camping World does not provide space to park an RV at their stores. Example the store at Columbia SC. Last year I was in the area an exited off I20 to shop at the Camping World store and after driving out of my way to get there, there was no where to park. I had to drive past the store and go up the street and turn around in a car dealership lot. I wasted probable 30-45 of travel time.
The store at Colfax NC has a small area but you have to pull through the lot where the travel trailers are parked and make a circle and squeeze in between the travel trailers to find a place to park. I don't know about other Camping World sites but there are a lot of RVs and Travel Trailers passing by your stores and no where to pull in and shop. DUH!!

RE: intercoastal campground in North Carolina

You can't have site #10 for the nights of 6/7-12/12 because I have it.:B:B
Electricity at the sites, some with 50amp and water scattered around the cg. Dump station and really nice bathhouse with several private shower rooms.
We stayed at Cedar Point a few nights last year and enjoyed it very much. The walking trails around and through the marsh area are beautiful especially early in the morning. Look for the Osprey and other marsh birds.
If you like seafood try T & W Oyster Bar not to far from CG. Swansboro has several nice shops and a really nice Grill down near the water.
