RE: Trip from Los Angeles to San Francisco

Be aware that it won't be an inexpensive trip. The Vines RV Park wants anywhere from $60 to $80 per night; the Moss Landing KOA is around $75 per night; the Santa Cruz KOA is $83 per night; and the Petaluma KOA is a bargain at $61 per night!
Still cheaper than most Hotels and you have your own kitchen and bath, and you sleep in your own bed.

RE: Trouble Free Motorhome Owner?

I have owned many motorhomes and trucks over the last 20 years of RVing.
The worst was a 06 Ford F350 that was towed for major motor repairs 3 times in 25,000 miles, and after Ford put a new 6.0PSD motor in it and it blew a head gasket on my first uphill pull I got rid of it. I have owned my Dynamax for two years now, only repair was a DOA defective microwave that I replaced myself not worth taking it to a dealer for repair, plus I put in what I wanted. Freightliner M2-106 heavy chassis pulls my 12,000 lb. trailer with no problems

RE: Locked Out of RV !

That sounds more than fair, Outrageous would be $450-$850 for just a drill open.

RE: Locked Out of RV !

Glad to hear you got in, Let this be a lesson for others don’t just Google a Locksmith the majority of ads are for GHOST Locksmiths fake addresses and not licensed bonded or insured, or capable of picking their way out of a tin can. Glad to hear you found a real Locksmith.

RE: Locked Out of RV !

http://professional.schlage.com/pdfs/pc/Heavy_Duty/B-Series/B-Series%20Auxiliary%20Locks.pdf
Look at page 10 for cylinder screw position. The lock you have is a B-160 it is replaced by the BC-160 the mounting screws are smaller in the old ones.

RE: Locked Out of RV !

If it is a Schlage deadbolt and not just a rim cylinder chances are the driver bar has fallen off or rounded off. In either case you can drill off the cylinder by drilling to the right and left of the key plug where the cylinder attaching screws are. Start with a 1/8 inch bit and work up to ¼ inch you should be able to catch the screws and unthread them until the cylinder drops off, then insert a flat blade screwdriver into the deadbolt driver hole and turn and you should be open. The lock is trash so don’t break anything but what needs replacing anyway.

RE: Parking on sand

I bet your friend has a 4 wheel drive or a tractor if he is a real desert folk.
I would not worry the high desert is mostly hard pack, but just incase the most important thing to remember is to let the air out of your tires, and that means a lot of air and you will probably drive right out.

RE: Dynaquest MH's

If they are your neighbor’s maybe you could ask them if possibly they are having a lifestyle change.
I went from a 40 foot fifth wheel to my Dynaquest , I did like the space of the 5TH but I would never go back. The only reason I would sell would be for an IKON Renegade, but it is a hard sell on the wife to blow $649,000.00 on a toy.

RE: Super C Diesel

I went from diesel to gas now back to diesel, My2011C with a V10 was slow underpowered and got horrible gas mileage, as well as wandered all over the road. Now back in a real truck chassis almost twice the weight no GCW issues and getting almost twice the mileage. Yes initial cost will be higher and maintenance will cost more but you will be much happier.

Good choice on Lifeline, I left Optima and Trojan years ago and have never looked back. I run Lifeline in my RV and fleet of service vehicles they have never let me down.

RE: LED TV Viewing Angle

In the past Sharp Aquas had the widest viewing angle, I can’t believe some of you are happy with the Dynex I owned one for a day in my home kitchen and the viewing angle was horrendous.
I returned it and bought a high end Samsung and was so pleased I bought 2 more for my RV; I would definitely look at Samsung.

RE: steep driveway - new unit?

Tony, The only reason I stated the 20,000lb hitch rating is that I would not want someone to attempt to try this with a 5,000lb hitch on a frame extension. I have seen roller assemblies that insert into the receiver hitch or mount to the crossbar, and yes no hitch is designed to take that kind of weight, my casters are mounted to a crossbar under the frame rails and with no frame extenders. If I tried this on my Winnebago C Class I would probably bend or destroy the coach.

RE: steep driveway - new unit?

Pirate, the one benefit I have going for me is the RV has a 20,000 lb hitch rating and the casters are tied into the rear frame rails. The casters I used are rated at 16,000lb a piece and cost over a grand each and so far have worked flawlessly.
