Fresh water cap

Went to pour some rv anti freeze into the fresh water tank and the plastic strap that holds the cap to the tt broke off. No big deal but would like to reattach the cap some how so that we don't loose or misplace the cap. Thanks for any ideas

RE: trip from medford ny to atlanta ga (prefered route)

Hi Rich from selden, I was planning to take the throgs neck bridge, then the cross bronx to the washington bridge. Sound ok ? Hi Bill thats your best bet when we come home I will take the Outerbrige/Verrazano Bridge into the BQE but that is only to cut down on the tolls and it can be nerve racking with alot of traffic. Have a safe trip Rich

RE: Hurricane Relief

if the family dumps either a porta-pot or a blue tank in the house toilet it will self flush all but the last bowl full-less than a gallon of sewage. if the camper grey water is captured a couple of gallons will flush the toilet bowl pretty clean. or you could just haul a couple extra gallons in when you need to dump the black tank in the camper-certainly not every day. even rain water will do a good job flushing a toilet-virtually any water will do,it dosent have to be drinkable water. X2 to add for heat I would get a few electric heaters if you use the propane heater on the tt you will use alot of propane and I would use run a heavy duty extension chord for the electic heat. While we lost power in central Suffolk my hometown of Seaford where my parents still live was hard hit best to all and if I can be of any further help please pm me

RE: Hurricane Relief

Hi first I think it's very nice of you to help this family out. Imho I would buy a pota potty and not use the black tank the pota potty can then be dumped into the bathroom of their house. Grey water can be run to the house with a garden hose. Good luck from a fellow Long Islander

RE: ANYBODY WATCHING THE SANDY RELIEF EFFORTS ON TV?

Thankyou for your concern living on Long Island I have never seen damage like this at one point 90% of the Island had no power still 50% are still in the dark and its in the 40s tonight so alot are cold. A bigger problem now is a shortage of gas I waited over an hour at 4am this morning for gas so I could go to work again thankyou Rich

RE: Hurricane Sandy

As most of you know Sandy hit Long Island hard. We were with out power until today thanks to our camper and honda 3000 we suffered little. My family on the otherhand that live some what closer to NYC are still without power. We are unable to give any help due to a growing gas shortage on LI. My thoughts and prayers go out to all who have been affected by this storm Rich

Myrtle Beach

Today is the last day of our vacation in MBTP. This is by far the nicest cg we have ever stayed in in five years of rving. For us to be able to go in the ocean and pools this late in the year was a real treat. Myrtle Beach Travel Park is clean and beautiful. We will be back asap. We are from LI NY and have some nice beaches of our own but Myrtle Beach is over the top as far as beaches go. Anyone looking for a quiet cg MBTP is it! Thank you for a great vacation Rich

RE: rt 23 and 145 from Catskill to Middleburg NY

I did it once on a mini-van at about 10pm on one of the darkest night drives I can remember. The state had just repaved Rt 23 and didn't have the lines painted. The part of RT 23 going up the WIndham Peaks near the Point Lookout Inn was horrifying in the dark. Thank goodness it was in the fall and not the winter when the area gets lots of snow. It was the worst drive of my life.
Make sure you drive it in the daylight.
If I'm not mistaken the route you are refering to is 23a and goes up to Hunter Mt and you are right it is a steep curvy road. As a young man my family spent alot of time in this area mostly in Palenville. A beautifull part of the Catskil Mtns and some place I will return to but will not pull our tt up 23a! The op is refering to rt 23 into 145 though Durham again if I'm not mistaken. Safe rving Rich
RT 23A goes through Palenville, past North/South Lake State Park (great camping)and the past Hunter Mountain. I was referring to RT 23 as the original post was about. RT 23 goes from Catskill, thru Durham, up the Windam Peaks past the Point Lookout Inn and then past Windham Ski and then meets RT23A at Prattsville.
You are correct but route 23 also meets the NYS thurway at exit 21 23 and 32 run together till they meet rt 145. That being said if and when we go back to North South Lake I would take your route though Windam. As stated I spent alot of my youth in Greene Co. and when we drive though I long to go back this will happen when time and retirement allow only a few short years away Rich

RE: rt 23 and 145 from Catskill to Middleburg NY

Hi first off I have only made this drive by car and do it every year on our way up to Cooperstown. With that being said 23/145 are fine mostly one lane each direction no overpasses there are some rolling hills and with the exception of some small towns (watch your speed!) the speed limit is 55mph. Middleburg is a nice small upstate town. Happy camping Rich

RE: Concord NC to Myrtle Beach SC

Sure this was an oversight, but US 74 does not go to Tabor City. Connecting to NC 410 south to Tabor City will take place at Chadbourn which is about 10 - 15 miles north of Tabor City, NC.
Guess I should have said the 410 exit off 74 to Tabor City. It's real easy, and a good drive
Thank you your route looks great and I see the gas is cheaper in SC thanks again Rch

Mrytle Beach TRravel Park

We will be in MBTP 10/14 -10/21. I have a few questions first will the lazy river be open as well as the out door pool? Also will the pool if open as well as the ocean be warm enough to go in? We are bringing our bikes how are the roads? And are fires allowed? As for MB I see a casino boat listed is it worth our time? Thanks for any and all help Rich

As a born, raised, current, and proud New Yorker I will never forget. With that being said there is not one person in the New York metro area that did not know a family affected on that day. I still feel pain every time I see that big hole in our skyline. The number 343 will forever be in my soul those brave men and women gave all RIP. God Bless America Rich

RE: wife needs assurance!!!! route from Philly to Long Island

Hi Lou Ann I replied to your first post. Slay is correct do not go on any road that says parkway that includes the Grand Central. Again go over the Outerbridge only center span is narrow reread my last post. NYC is no fun aviod rush hour take your time it is do able I have no other way to leave or get home. That being said the Staten Island route inbound will save some toll money also the Bronx/GW route outbound will save. Pm me if you need more help drive safe Rich

RE: Philly to Eastern Long Island---Safest Route???

Another Long Islander here imho take the Outerbridge crossing onto Staten Island time your trip to avoid the evening rush hour, when you get on the BQE watch the signs for the most part stay to the right. When you go under the Brooklyn Bridge stay in the center lane (the right lane scares me for the height). The BQE goes into the LIE (495). Above all else take your time us New Yorkers are always in a a rush but Long Island is my home and we love it. Happy camping Rich
