RE: any Chinook Concourse owners here ?

Congratulations on your Chinook. You might want to check out this blog
To Simplify. He's a professional musician that writes music for Family Guy (I believe). He started out in a Falcon for about 14 months then upgraded to the Chinook. Over 2 million folks have visited his blog. I really enjoy keeping up with his travels. He's made upgrades and modifications and shared how he did it.
Hope you enjoy your Chinook as much as Glenn has. You might get some ideas as to what you'd like to do, too....or not.

Glenn's blog is awesome! I follow it too.

RE: any Chinook Concourse owners here ?

I was going to tell you some things you might need to know about them before buying.....but it's a little late now. Good luck with the purchase.
What were you going to say about the Chinook?

RE: What's your toad?

I posted this in my own topic but we just bought our new toad. A 2012 Nissan Versa. Manual says its towable as is just stop every 500 miles and let the engine run for about 5 minutes, to help lube up everything. I also wanted to verify with you guys that I still have to turn the key to the ACC feature, is this right?

2012 Versa

We just bought a new 2012 Nissan Versa as our new Toad. It's a 6 speed manual and is fun fun fun to drive. Also, the wife picked it out so it bright blue!!! We traded in our Toyota Tundra for it so it is going to take a few days to get use to driving a quarter of a car!
Plus we got a great deal on it and paid cash for it, so no payment!!!
I'm off to buy a blue ox base plate and a rear hitch to hold the bikes.:C

RE: Who full times all the time with reg job?

We do! I'm active duty in the military and part of my job is to travel around to various military units and evaluate some of the "specialty" things they do, and then give training to get said units up to speed on inefficiencies.
It's a great way to live, and we home school on the road so the kids love it too.

RE: Chevy Vortec 8.1 or Ford V-10

Sounds good guys. Thanks for the replies. It seems both are pretty comparable.
Yeah, and I know I should be more concerned with floorplan and build of the coach, however I don't want a beautiful coach that is broken down all the time. Thanks again

Chevy Vortec 8.1 or Ford V-10

Just wondering what the trend is and what your thoughts are on the difference and benifits of the Chevy Vortec 8.1 engine verse the Ford V-10 engine.
Thanks

RE: 2004 Rav4

Is it 2 WD or 4 WD?
It is the Front wheel drive (2WD) model. I know the 4WD has to be towed unnder 55 mph, while the 2WD has no speed restriction.

RE: 2004 Rav4

why would the miles matter. you are not hurting it while towing.
It is a Toyota it is good for double the miles it has now
Very true... I also assume that the miles do not continue to climb while being towed? Any insight?

2004 Rav4

The wife and I are considering buying a 2004 Toyota Rav4, 5 speed manual transmission, with 92,000 miles on it.
Anybody out there using a manual RAV4 as a 4 down toad?
Do you think 92K is too many miles to use as a toad.
Thanks guys

RE: Bikes and a Toad

Thanks for all the replies. I have considered getting a hitch for my toad (Nissian Versa) and its only like $30 more than the Roadmaster dual reciever. Maybe I just do that instead.

Bikes and a Toad

Have any of you ever used a dual reciever like this (Roadmaster dual reciever) to tow both your bikes and your toad behind your motorhome. I want to have my blue ox tow bars on the bottom and then my bike rack with 4 bikes on the top.
What do you guys think? Anyone doing this? If you have a picture I would love to see the set up. I am scared that with 4 bikes I may hit the toad when making tight turns?!?!
Oh yeah my toad is a Nissian Versa Hatchback.

Look at bunk model Class A. We are currently thinking the same as you guys. The Winnebago Vista 35B is at the top of our list right now.

RE: Trip to Williamsburg and Washington, D.C.

We will be heading out to Williamsburg, VA on Washington D.C. for a three week trip. We have reservations at American Heritage RV Park in Williamsburg and Cherry Hill Park in College Park, MD which is near D.C. It looks like commuting to D.C. is pretty easy from the campground.
My wife and I have been to D.C. years ago on business and did not get the opportunity to see too much. We are looking forward to our trip.
Does anyone have any tips for touring Williamsburg? And, how about what to see and what's a waste of time.
If you are military or retired military you can stay at the Navy Cheatham Annex campground in Williamsburg. They recently did a couple millions dollors worth of repairs and renovations to it. It is really really nice. One of the best we have stayed at. It is centrally located to all the attractions as well.
As for DC we always stay at Andrews Airforce Base Campground. It is a 5 min drive to the subway station, that will take you anywere in DC.
Hope this helps

RE: Problems, Problems, Problems

We live close to the holiday travel park, and when the jets fly over the house they tend to mess up our sat and internet as well.

RE: Where would you stop in ALaska for two weeks?

We are currently in lovely lovely Valdez, Ak, headed over to Whittier on the ferry in the morning.
We'd like some input on our itinerary from all you Alaska aficionados.
Where in Alaska would you stop and stay for two weeks and why?
Thanks! This is going to be interesting. :-)
Just now found this thread.... I am planning my trip back to AK. What RV park did you stay at in Valdez, Bear Paw?
Thanks,

RE: Curved Shower Curtain

I bought a residential curved shower bar from Homedepot, then cut it to size to fit the shower in my TT.
You have to use screws, i would image velcro will not last very long, especially with all the moisture in the bathroom.
By far one of the best mods Ive done. I dont feel at all claustrophobic!

When you guys are storeing your TT do you leave a window or two open to help ventilate?
Just in case you were wondering I store my tt beside my house.
