RE: gas mileage on 2013 24 ft mh chevy or ford class c

I have a 2010 Coachmen that is 25ft bumper to bumper. We went over 30000 miles on our trip south this winter. Pulling a Chevy tracker and rv loaded we got just over 9mpg from Mi to FL. on our 1100 mile trip to Alaska this summer not pulling the Tracker the best tank was 14 mpg with a tail wind all day. I try to stay just under 60. Chevy engine.

Need a RV park near ST Petersburg FL

We were asked to help our son house hunt in St. Petersburg FL the middle of December and are looking for a place in or very near St Pete, any ideas?

RE: U-Shaped Dinette

For the first 1 1/2 years we just removed the table and used TV trays to eat on. With the table removed there seemed to be much more room to move around even without a slide out. After an extended trip to Alaska we decided to replace the u-shaped Dinette with a rocker recliner and a swivel recliner each of which has a removable table. As there are only two of us we wanted more comfortable seating. So far we like the new setup.

RE: Warranty work on Chevy, Help

Ended up talking to GM at 800 862 4389. They said Rv was covered under GM warranty and called dealer to explain to them that if it said Chevy on it it is covered. The only thing the GM rep said about Workhorse covering some warranty work was some units built in 1999.

Warranty work on Chevy, Help

I have a Coachmen 2010 class C RV. It has a Chevy base. On the side of the RV near the door is a sign that says Workhorse. I just returned from a Goodyear truck repair shop where I took my Rv in for a front end alignment. They told me I had a wheel bearing that needed replacement. Called local Chevy dealer that sent me to another dealer that sent me to another dealer that sent me somewhere else. It seems that no one knows who if anyone is responsible for warranty work on the the part of the motorhome with Chevy and Workhorse stickers on it. Anyone ever had this problem and find out just what we have for warranty if anything?

RE: Is Alaska biggest tourist trap?

At the moment we are camped in the best/largest campground most modern campground (as per milepost). Our camp sight is gravel, it is a back in sight, our neighbor is 10 feet from our door, cars and trucks and RVs drive past the front of our unit because the whole line of camp sites are part of the road into the RV park. At least it is level. We planed on this trip for years, spent time reading about others that RVed through Alaska, went to talks given by those that spent time here and purchased books written by travelers about their time Rving in Alaska. Yes the scenery is wonderful but what if you can't see it? Alaska seems not to be very handicapped friendly. Alaska is a nice place to visit but not the end all that many make it out to be.

Is Alaska biggest tourist trap?

I was told is Alberta Canada that B.C. meant Bring Cash. Alaska is bigger so bring many credit cards and lots of cash. It is true that at times you can find pull offs along the roads and can spend the night. but campgrounds want your cash. Dry camp $15-$25, water and electric $28-$43 and full hookup whatever we can get. Discount fishing trip if you stay at our campground only $240 each. Park in Anchorage $1 an hour for cars, could not find parking for large RV. I am finding that Milepost is mostly put together to promote businesses that pay to have an add in it. Most tourist information stations are there to sell you something. All Native People are modern artists, just grab handfuls $20, to purchase anything made by a Native Person. I grew up in a tourist town and know that summer is short and the store owners have to make their money when the tourists are there but it seems that all of Alaska is one big tourist trap. Want a hamburger and fries $10.95 Draft beer $5.00. The best price for gas $3.99.9 to well over $5.85 in Canada. Roads are much better than I expected. We took the top of the world hwy. and found it to be a bit rough but no problem and most roads to be well paved. Expected prices foe food to be higher and they are. We planned on spending at least 4 months seeing Alaska but are thinking of cutting that down. For the most part glad we came but won't be back.

RE: Alaska Hwy fuel stops

Spent the night in Fort Nelson at the Blue Bell Inn. Gas is $5.50 gal., they charged me an extra &10.00 for paying in US currency on a $200. tank fill. Camping was $21 US. This was first time anyone up charged for using US currency but was told BC really means Bring Cash.
