RE: Going to Ket West
Oh, and if you go to google and type in key west zip code, 33040 pops up. If you type in stock Isalnd, 33040 and 33041 pop up.
So the official city website, Wikipedia, yellow pages, the actual three business listed and some unknown search engine called google all say these places are key west.
But the senior member Texan says other.
Hmmmmmmmmm, I'd side with him he really sounds more knowledgable. (insert sarcasm)
RE: Going to Ket West
PS-S--- if you go to KEYWEST.COM, the official city tourist website, the three campgrounds I mentioned are also listed. And remarkably, all are stated to be in Key West.
RE: Going to Ket West
PS-- Here's a copy and paste from the three respective RV campgrounds in question in Key West.

RE: Going to Ket West
Not sure what the posters are saying but its way off.
The drive once you get off the mainland is only three hours, as long as there are no accidents or anomalies. It's also a great drive. I drive from Tampa and its an easy 1 day drive.
As for campgrounds, there are actually three all within 3-4 miles from Duval street, all in Key West.
Boyd's, the biggest and priciest with amenities such as pool, showers, small store etc and on the water. Small sites, very tight, but no real issues in or out for me with a 40 foot A and a toad.
El Mar park, very small, 11 spots, zero amenities, as in nothing, just a lot. But on the water, huge sites all with concrete pads and pea gravel. Super clean and 1 mile from Boyd's.
Lastly, Leo's Campground. Pretty much in between the two, but half the price. Small park, some green space, some trees, my least favorite of the three.
So from your area, it's a cake driven one day.
And if you want to stop halfway, on Krome avenue in Homestead there's a huge city campground that is only $30 per night. Its huge, but if you didn't know it was there you'd never find it.
It's a great stop right before you leave the mainland, so the next day you can wake and in three hours you're in Key West. For someone that professes to KNOW Key West, you need to take a geography lesson. NONE of those 3 campgrounds are on the island of Key West, NONE of them. They are all on Stock Island, which is NOT Key West, even though it has a Key West mailing address. The last commercial campground on the island of Key West, closed over 10 years ago.
I'm not sure what got the Texan so grouchy, but he's probably one of the people on here who need to grouse to feel superior. Nowhere in my post did I profess to know anything. I merely as is the purpose of the site have some insight on a question from another. The three campgrounds I listed are all around 3-4 miles from Duval which by defaults the epicenter of Key West. The OP didn't need a zip code lesson from a Texan. For the purposes of this post, my answer STANDS AND HOLDS WATER. The three places I referenced are walking distance to downtown Key West, REGARDLESS what their respective zip codes are. It's guys like the Texan that spread negativity, grouchiness and an over all nasty disposition that seem to permeate this site. There's always someone tryin to put someone else down. Simply put, I was tryin to give some information to the OP. He had the choice to read, disregard or anything else he pleased. It's senior members like this guy that make un senior newer members like me look elsewhere. PS---I certainly don't need a geography lesson from a Texan about Key West as I've had a home and two business down there for only about 21 years. So I'd like to teach you a geography lesson, but I'm sure the moderator wouldn't be pleased if I told you where to go. Geographically speaking of course.
RE: Going to Ket West
And sunshine key, where you're staying is pretty nice. The entire key, or island is the campground. It's pretty big and will be pretty full, but it's surrounded by water, good amenities, plenty do etc.
Not an awful drive to Key West, maybe 30-40 minutes depending.
You can bring a boat as there is a marina in the park, plenty of places to walk and explore in park, and just outside as there is walkway in both directions.
Fiesta key, a little further away was a mess, needs a total rehab.
Hope these two posts help.

RE: OK, Im an idiot...
Also a 2011 Wrangler Unlimited. Leaving VA Beach last Saturday to head back to Cape Cod, I was hooking up to tow in the pouring rain.
Got all hooked up and jumped in the Jeep to put the T-Case in Neutral. Gave it a yank and SNAP!, it breaks something in the linkage and the lever is simply flopping loose in my hand. Worse than that, it ended up in 4WD mode! Couldn't tow it and couldn't have DW drive it home......
My cousin who is long time mechanic and RV'er gave me a great tip as I broke mine also.
Put Jeep in neutral, with your left foot on ground, move it forward or backward 6-10 inches, it will allow all pressure to be relived on cable and you'll be amazed at how easily, smoothly, and without the clunk the transfer case goes into neutral.
RE: Truck System Technologies - TPMS - not a happy camper.
Bought TST system, the best one they had, 10 sensors, and the recommended booster. Of the ten, 5 stopped working at one time or another.
Sure they will send new ones, but as other poster said, all the time and effort involved make this $600 badly spent.
They have serious reliability issues.
Buy a tire pressure gauge instead.
