RE: Niagara Falls campgrounds

We have visited and checked out most of the campgrounds in the Niagara area and we generally go back to the KOA Lundy's lane as the most convenient and it has lots of family activities. It has public transportation right at the entrance and it goes directly down town. Its very close to the falls as well. The Yogi Bear seems nice except its a little farther from the falls and right next to the expressway.
We have also stayed at the NET Campground in Vineland which is farther from all the activities but is cheaper.

RE: Best tow bar for towing Escape?

i am not trying to throw a wrench into this discussion but are you sure the 2012 Ford Escape is rated to be towed 4 down?? There were many problems with the tranmissions on these vehicles and part way through the 2012 year, Ford removed the approval for towing 4 down??
We have a Blue Ox Aventa LX and its a great tow bar. Rated at 10,000 lbs and towing a 3400 lb Pontiac G6.

RE: Suggestions for CG Cooperstown NY and then Niagara Falls

You definitely want to visit the Canadian side at Niagara Falls. Lots of things to see and do and some great wineries to tour. Over 40 I think within 30 miles. Also Niagara on the Lake.
I recommend the KOA Lundy's Lane on the Canadian side. We always stay in that campground when in the area.

RE: Using a Suburban as a Toad?

In my humble opinion, that Toad would be too heavy for your unit to comfortably tow. The toad would represent almost 50% of the weight of the MH.
My G-6 that I tow is only 3,300 lbs.

RE: any places to overnight on rt 1 st stephen to st john

When in Saint John make sure you visit the Irving Nature Park. Its on the west side of the city and it is a peninsula with water on three sides and its about a 3 mile drive along a very narrow road (one way). There are parking areas every so long and walking trails leading to the water and into the forest. We saw many foxes during our trip in September. When in Saint John which was our home when i was in school, we stay at the City Campground, Rockwood Park. Some nice views of the City from the Campground.

Just a note, that unlike in the US where some Walmarts are open 24 hours a day, the ones in Canada generally close each evening.

RE: What outside lights atract the least Bugs?

Well from personal experience the LED lights do attract less bugs. We have a LED light on the awning side and a regular bulb on the drivers side. The driver's side light will be covered with bugs and the one by the door will have only a very few.

RE: Niagra Falls and Hershey questions.

I checked to see you have two children. Marineland with its park is probably worth a visit as well. And you need one day to see the falls, the walk behind the falls, the Maid of the Mist, the Spanish Aero Car, a walk through Niagara on the Lake. I did not mention all the wineries and their tours. LOL The kids would also enjoy the walk up Clifton Heights with all the attractions on that short street.
I would recommend either the KOA Lundy's Lane due to all the facilities and activities for the kids at night, or Yogi Bear which is also a very nice campground. There is also a Waldorf sp??? which is next to Marineland.
The KOA is the closest to the Falls and buses go right past the door and take you right down town. We are sure you and your family will enjoy Niagara, but we think one day would not be enough especially if you want to visit MarineLand.

RE: winterizing coach water filter cartridge

I use compressed air to blow out all the lines after bypassing the HW heater and then remove the whole unit water filter housing and dispose of the filter element. I take an empty plastic water bottle with the top on secure and put it in place of the filter. I then pump the pink stuff through all the lines. The filter housing fills up with anti freeze, but the empty bottle fills most of the cartridge so it only takes minimal more fluid. The empty water bottle also allows for some expansion of the antifreeze if it gets very cold. In the spring empty all the lines and the filter . Run fresh water through everyting and then put a new filter in the cartridge.

RE: Crossing Border

At most border crossings it will say cars or RV's in the same line. DO NOT go in the truck lanes as they will redirect you back to the passenger car lanes. Our friends had to make the U turn one time when they went in the truck lanes. Its the same when going back to the US, cars and RV's in the same lanes.

RE: Are Maxx Air/vent covers common on Class A's?

We have three on our MH and we have never brought a unit home from the selling dealer without them installed. It was mentioned in the sales agreement.
A friend in Chicago bought a brand new travel trailer and a week later a hail storm in their area and it broke their two domes and rain filled the trailer. . The Max airs give another more rigid cover that would have to break to allow rain into the lower dome. To us its insurance.
And we can leave the vents cracked open when in storage.

RE: Ford C-Max towability

Just so we are clear, the new 2013 Escape and the new 2013 Fusion are not towable 4 down as was confirmed at my local Ford Dealer on Saturday.
The Focus automatic transmission cars are towable 4 down.

RE: Best route from New Brunswick Ca to Panama City area

The route that most people that we know from NB head to Florida is as follows.I 95 south from Bangor area to I 495 around Boston.
I 90 West to I 84 west to meet I 81 south in Pa
I 81 south to I 66 east towards Washington.
Route 17 to Fredericksburg
I 95 south to Florida. You can take I 295 around Richmond, but normally not needed.
Hope this helps.

RE: Forest River A class - thought

As you can see by our signature we have an 03 Georgetown 35 ft MH which we bought new in 2003, We have enjoyed every moment we have travelled in it. Only chassis problem was a fuel pump, but the house part has been great. The unit handles very well on the road and its a pleasure to drive. The Ford chassis and the V-10 perform very well.
We were through the plant two years ago and were very impressed by the construction methods used in their manufacture. WE would recommend FR Georgetowns to anyone and since we bought ours at least 5 other friends we have throughout the US and Canada have bought georgetowns as well and every one of them are pleased with their units.
Our 2003 Georgetown even has a water manifold system which is usually only found in much higher end units.
Count us as a happy camper.

RE: Niagara Falls Trip Planning

We took a drive through the Riverside Campground and the lady in the office said they only had a few sites that would accomodate our MH and its only 35 ft long. Its part of an old style motel arrangement and you drive under a canopy to get to the sites.I was not impressed enough to stay there.

RE: Myrtle Beach Experts?

Our favorite over the last 18 years is still the KOA. Can walk to the beach but away from the wind and under a nice tree cover.
JM2CW
He said his wallet was raped. The KOA is probably the most expensive RV Park in the Myrtle Beach area and is about a 1/4 mile from the beach.
We checked the prices of all the campgrounds including Lakewood, Pirateland, and Ocean Lakes and in the third week of July 2011 the KOA was the cheapest and had no minimum stay requirement even over the weekend.
We have stayed at both Ocean Lakes and Lakewood and we would prefer the KOA any day. The sites we had at the KOA were large and were shaded by trees and we do not want he wind and the sand that the Ocean front sites have.
Just our personal opinion, but the cost comparison was FACT in July 2011.
We also liked the fact that they escort you to your site at the KOA.
