RE: Info on 2000-2004 Fleetwood Fiesta

I have a 05 Fiesta built in 04. There is no foam in my water compartment under the bed. Just wood. Rebuilding that area would involve a lot of work. I would only repair what is necessary since it is out of sight.

RE: Motorhome Fuel Mileage

Which pollutes/costs less? RV weighing 12-40k lbs. with 2 aboard or a 200-500k lbs plane going 500 mph with 125 aboard? Then they all still have to rent a room, eat greasy food in resturants and rent a car? The best thing about them is sometimes they get you there faster.

RE: How many miles on your Ford V-10, and what problems?

75k miles and no problems. 04 chassis. Friend has a workhorse who's spent $5k on auto brake problem and still can't use his RV. I had a 02 Deville with 33 problems in 4.5 years and lost $35k to get rid of it. Enough said.

RE: Cleaning MAF, 2000, V10,F53

If you do not over oil a gauze type filter it will not contaminate a MAF. I have never had a problem of any sort in 40 years and hundreds of thousands of miles using them. Including down stream dust or mist.

RE: All Dash gauges stopped working

When all my gauges stopped working I still had my Scan Gauge II. It does more than the OEM's gauges and more accurately. We moved on for 700 miles until I got time to fix a short in the gear shift lever.

RE: Class A coaches driving the speed limit

1st, ya can't fix stupid, 10-45k lbs can't stop fast enough in any situation. A blow out at 70? Secondly there is no law against driving UNDER the speed limit and there never WILL be! Driving (even slow) on secondary roads is far more dangerous than any 4 lane. The left lane (on a 4 lane)is to pass slower traffic. DAhhhh...

RE: RV cost versus your net worth?

2% total or .5% per year. Put on this basis RV'ing is cheap. Lots better than sitting at home or even Vacationing in motels and eating out.

RE: Do you know your credit score?

I couldn't care less what my credit score is!! I have no debt, never will borrow again, and pay off my bills every month. My ex-rich relatives worried about their's. Then didn't take care of their money and now their score is in the crapper after a foreclosure. Get rid of debt!!! I never made a lot of money but never overspent either.

RE: Ford V10 howling sound

The howl in my rear end sounds like it is closer to the front end with throttle applied, and stops as soon as I let off the gas. Gets noiser with higher speeds until about 65.

RE: Ford V10 howling sound

My howl is from the Dana rear end. Typical and nothing to worry about. Pinion bearing wear.

RE: Van Horn, TX is unfriendly toward RVers

I lived in El Paso for 20 years. The ONLY thing you do in Van Horn is get gas and get the HELL out of there. Boring little town with way too many government employees, like 1/2 of the town since that's all there is there. County, State and Federal. Van Horn (ie Pop 2000?) is the largest town in one of the largest counties in Texas. AND watch out for the County/State Mounties!! Notorious for speeding tickets even with it at 80 MPH on I-10. But I also know Texas is one of the friendliest states in the country outside Urban areas.

RE: Ford V10 Engines

04 F53 V10 73000 miles. Most reliable vehicle I've owned, next to my Accord. Gas engines are as reliable as diesels and a sure lot less expensive.

RE: Longevity of tires

Old does not make them bad, New does not make them good. Have them inspected. Cracking, uneven wear, bulges, are bad signs. Being inside helped them a lot.

RE: 5 Star Tuning for 8.1 Workhorse

I just started using a 5 Star SCT Tuner. I drive/drove very conservatively. Do not expect any major changes. I now get .1 to .3 more mpg, and "maybe" 5% more HP at cruise. Are they worth $400, probably not. It was a gift so I did OK.

RE: mpg gauge

Vacuum Gauge works almost as well as a Scan Gauge. Just keep your foot steady in all conditions by watching the vacuum. I also agree 10" or greater gets my best MPG. Just make sure vacuum is from a full time source, after the throttle plates but not where the vac. is off during acceleration or decel.

RE: Ford F-53 (2000) Dash Electrical Issue

Try putting it gear with ignition ON, Is the parking brake set and light ON, check all connectors at the fluid power motor and solenoids. We were also at Fort Wilderness and it was 90+% humidity in FL for the the last 2 weeks. Nothing was dry inside or out. Even ran the A/C to reduce humidity inside.

RE: Just tried a new (to us) RV park, BEAUTIFUL BUT...

I-10 thru the Coachella Valley gives out more speeding tickets over 100 mph than anywhere in the country! 4-5 lanes wide and flat with some of the most expensive gas in the country, go figure. No wonder there's go much noise from the road. No one's going the speed limit and hundreds/thousands of trucks per hour. It's also THE major railroad route in SW USA.
