After market GPS
Hi everyone, I have a hearing disability and need to buy an aftermarket GPS that has a high volume. Does anyone know of one? Make and model. Thanks
RE: Converter problem
Well I give up on this thing. I have 120 volts at the main breaker, I have 12.9 volts going out of the converter and battery connected I have the same at the battery but the converter still won’t charge. I unplugged the shore power went inside and turned the sealing lights on they worked went plugged shore power back on and lights as suggested they didn’t get any brighter and converter did not charge. I don’t believe is a fuse in the wire between the converter and battery, if there is one It’s under the floor and to top it all off the nearest dealer is 220 km away. Thanks everyone for your help.
RE: Converter problem
When it gets below 13.2 I just turned my heater on or the AC fan and the converter starts to charge. The battery dropped to 12.9 over night.
RE: Converter problem
After testing all that we could test this much have found out, the converter doesn't charge the battery after the volts drop below 13.2 but if we put a load on it like turning the AC fan on, not the AC but just the fan it will charge. Has anyone had this happen before?
Converter problem
Can anyone give ideas on what the problem might be? My 30 amp 3 stage does not keep my battery up. Someone suggested to try these 2 tips.
Troubleshooting Tip 1
Begin by switching on a few lights and appliances within the RV with the RV's power cord connected to an outside power source. This is called shore power; it passes through the battery to the converter, and then goes to the appliances. If, when the shore power is disconnected, the appliances and lights go out, there could be a thrown breaker, a burnt fuse or a battery problem. Check the breakers and the fuses; if nothing's wrong, check the contacts to the battery. They may need to be cleaned if they are corroded. If there is no corrosion, then the battery is no longer able to hold a charge and should be replaced.

Troubleshooting Tip 2
Try bypassing the battery by connecting the shore power line to charge the RV battery as usual, but disconnect the ground line. This will skip the battery's charging process and put power directly to the converter. The lights should work fine, but if they dim or flicker, than there's an issue with the converter transformer, relay contacts or diodes. These components must be checked with specialized equipment by an electrician.
I tried tip 1 and the lights do not go out as there is still power in by battery but the appliances do go out and the battery holds the charge.
I tried tip 2 and the lights do not work at all doing this.
I had no problem for years until now.
Thanks a bunch
RV Converter
Ok, can someone tell me what happened? While camping this weekend my RV battery went down to 50% which means the converter did not come on and the lights were dim, so I connected my portable charger to the battery over night. The next morning the battery was fully charged, a few hours later to check the converter I turned all lights and AC on and within a few minutes the converter was charging. What happen here? Thanks
Converter is a 3 stage 30 amp.
