RE: Activities, Attractions, Dining, Rio Grande Valley TX 09-10

DH has been there lots. It's like a Candy Store for Men. If you need 0 rings he has a little case with 380 diffent variety of sizes, if you need automotive electrical connectors he has 580 in this cute little case. Every week you wonder what's in the bag when the guys return from their Men's Morning Out Day. To-night we made a last minute decision and went to Paradise South to take new folks to see Tim & Sharon. Had a fun night again there like always. Thanks guys you put on a good show and we were really glad to see Tina Turner. Go Girl!!!! Tim sure hope your Mom is on the road to recovery. I'm sure she is hard to keep down. Say hi from the RV.Net folks please. Barb & Bob

We made sure we were there for 5:45. I think the booths open at 6:00. Worth the wait. Barb & Bob

RE: Holiday Candy

I use little waffle like pretels (I think Snyders) and put some on a plate then put on a rollo chocolate with caramel on top (buy them at Walmart in a bag). Put in microwave just for a short time just for the chocolate to melt a bit and then take out and place a half of pecan on the top and push down a bit. Everyone loves them. Enjoy Barb & Bob

We enjoyed ourselves at the Paradise on Tues night. Tim & Sharon did a great job entertaining us. Sharon we loved all of your new costumes. Had new to the valley folks with us and they had lots of laughs. I had the wings with medium sauce on them and they were excellent. When I walked into the building I was really impressed with the decor etc. Shirley & Ronnie thanks for planning the night it was fun as usual with the RV. Net Folks. Barb & Bob

Anyone know if the Red Tide is still a problem in South Padre? Can't seem to find an update anywhere. Friends went last week and said it made them cough.

Two couples from our park in Mercedes were at South Padre yesterday and said they coughed the whole time there. Didn't know anything about red tide.

RE: H1N1 in the RGV

Tripalot We have been here in the Valley for almost 3 weeks. Couldn't get the regular flu shot in Ontario before we left since we are not 65. Last week in the park we were able to purchase the regular flu shot. Haven't decided if we will get the H1N1 yet. Not hearing much of the flu down here. Had a bad cold before I came down and had to get a script from the Dr. but ok now. Haven't been to Padre yet. Red Tide is there and is killing fish etc. Suppose to low to moderate so maybe soon I can go. Had an experience with that in Florida years ago and gave me a terrible cough for weeks so I'll stay away until cleared. Trying to drink lots of Margaritas to keep the germs away. Barb & Bob

RE: Progresso

Pawatt I'm not good on directions. DH isn't here to give you details. If you are walking up the street it's on the left. What it is an alley I think. Guys meet you at the sidewalk and you will see the brick wall and it's just white (dirty) plastic chairs visible from the sidewalk. In a month it will be so crowded. Great spot to stop after shopping for a cold beer on the way to the duty free. Lots of men stop meet there with all the parcels and wait for their wives to finish shopping. Like I said usually entertainment. Poor vendors to-day weren't selling much. What I was really disappointed in was Pancho's Bar has moved to the front of the store. Not cozy didn't stay and no entertainment yet. Had a great Shrimp Lunch at the Red Snapper. Barb & Bob

We were in Progresso to-day and yes the Rose Garden is open. Beer $1 and they even had entertainment. Didn't have a chance to stop to-day. Had a great shrimp lunch at the Red Snapper. Barb & Bob

RE: Sanabel Island campgrounds - San Carlos RV?

We've stayed at Indian Creek and really liked the park in November and December. In January the prices go up big time. I wouldn't want to stay in that area after Christmas. So much traffic it's hard to get up to the beach and when finally there no parking. Outside the park there is a bus that will take you to the beach and take your chairs. Barb & Bob

Norcold Refrigerator LED Panel is Flashing

Symptom - All LED's are flash, pause, flash, pause. The owner's manuel says to call for service. Does anyone have a self fix for this problem? My DW is insisting that I ask this question. Fuse has been changed. Barb & Bob

RE: Activities, Attractions, Dining, Rio Grande Valley TX 09-10

Tim - Really enjoyed looking at your pics. Loved the little girl's newspaper hats. We were in another City at a Festival and the school children were making and selling them for a fundraiser for their band. I sure hope the Red Tide has moved on. Was on the Florida Beach once and didn't have any idea that the debris causes so many problems breathing etc. until I got home and wondered why I had an annoying cough. Looking forward to seeing everyone in the valley soon. Barb & Bob

RE: Onion Odor in refriq

A few years ago our Fridge stopped working while we were home at Christmas for a week. When we returned to Florida everything had thawed including lots of frozen salmon. What a smell. We purchased items to use at stores but found the right thing to use was crumbled up newspapers and changed them for a couple of days. Took the smell away. Tried charcoal etc. but this worked the best. Hope this info helps. Barb & Bob

RE: Italian Wedding Soup Recipes?

When I make the Italian Wedding Soup I use tiny meatballs made by hand. While watching tv I roll small ones made out of Lean Ground Beef, Ground Pork, Italian Breadcrumbs and a little bit of diced small onion. Put them on a cookie sheet and bake in oven for a few minutes. I sometimes freeze them until I'm ready to make the soup another day. Another tip when adding your egg to the broth make sure it's room temperature it works better. Hope this info helps.

RE: Pretzel Turtles

I like to use the waffle looking pretzels. I think Snyders makes them. I buy the mini rolos at Walmart. Sometimes after I melt the rolo on the pretzel I press a M & M on top. Kids like the different colours. Enjoy

RE: Fat Daddy's Weslaco TX ?

We passed that restaurant the first year many times and thought it didn't look like much. After hearing from friends in the park that they really liked the spot we took their advice and have been several times. We really like the food and the service is good. Much nicer on the inside than outside. Sorry can't remember if they have seafood. Maybe just give them a call before you go.

RE: Shrimp and RGV Winter Texans

Last year after eating at Dirty Al's in South Padre I decided to buy a pound of shrimp to go. Oh, I thought it was so expensive but sure was worth every penny. What a treat. I asked to have it packed on ice to go and they sure accomodated. When I got back to the RV I froze it and had them a couple of weeks later and boy were they good. Live for to-day Barb & Bob
