Say it ain't so.......

Well here it is only Sept 10th and I've just finished winterizing the TT.:( Previous commitments are going to prevent us from getting out any more this season. It was a pretty wet and cool summer up here in the great white north, but we enjoyed as always the times we did make it out.:B
For those of you who are going to write in saying: "I can't believe your shutin' it down already!! We'll be camping until...................of course I'm jealous!:M Wait until next year!!
Which brings me to my question. What if any plans are you thinking about for next season? Any cross country trips planed? Any visits to us up here Toronto way?:h Our family is probably heading east again next season to see friends and family "down east". I'm looking forward to reading your replies.
Hope you all had a safe and fun time this season and we'll see ya on the road real soon!!:W

RE: Hard slide in rear--do we need supports?

We have a rear slide in our TT, (see our sig) and have never put any kind of support under it. Never needed to. Bed will support up to 1,000 lbs. Plus as others have stated, if the trailer should slip for whatever reason, your bound to have some trouble with the slide being supported. Hope this helps.

RE: Any feedback/experience with a rear hard slide TT

As you can see in our sig, we have a Jayco 213 and we have had no problems what so ever. The rear slide really opens up the useable space in the trailer. Hope this helps.

RE: SUV to tow 24 foot Trailer?

As you will see in our sig, we tow a 24', 5,500 lb trailer with our 05 Durango. Tows great, no problems what so ever other than the gas mileage (or lack of) but that is to be expected.
Hope this helps.

RE: Gas Mileage

Mileage and best do not normally go together in the same sentence when talking about towing. It is what it is. Just my .02 (.0275 when towing)

RE: Travel Trailers

When we used to tow with our 5.2 litre 98 Jeep GC, if we did not run with at least 98 octane we had TONS of pre-ignition pinging which would make you think that your TV was about to explode!! When not towing reg 87 was fine. I suspect each vehicle is different and you'll discover which category yours falls into first time out towing. Have Fun!!

Replacing bulbs with led's and being pluged into 110.....

First off, I thought I'd start a new thread with this question rather than join in on another and have my question get lost in the shuffle.
So here goes.......I understand that switching out my interior lights with led's will work no problem when running on battery, but what about when I'm hooked up to 110 shore power? Will this just fry the led's or what?
Thanks in advance for your replies......

Just how many keys are there out there?

Brought home our TT yesterday only to discover a couple of items missing for our storage bay. Nothing of great value (Bal Deluxe Wheel Chock, Coaxial Cable...)Doors were all secure which leads me to believe some one went to the trouble of helping themselves and then locking up after they were done. Seems odd. The storage yard is very isolated but not a fenced in area. Which leads me to my question, just how many duplicate keys are there out there? Hundreds, thousands?? Enough to change them I guess. Annoying yes but not enough to keep us from enjoying the camping season ahead!! Just had to vent.
****Just a further note to this thread....did the 08 Jayco's have a remote for the radio? Can't seem to find it or remember!! I know.......a true sign of getting older. I'm ok with it but its driving my son nuts!! LOL LOl!!
Thanks!!

RE: getting our trailer onto a ferry

We took those ferry's to Vancouver Island a couple of years ago, and as stated above it'll be a piece of cake for you. Drive straight on and off with an assist as to parking in just the right spot. Don't sweat it.

RE: So Many Sprinters...

My guess would be the available 3 liter diesel Mercedes Benz engine with the mpg it offers. At least that one of the main reasons we have been looking at them.

RE: No Snow

I think this is a fairly common situation with new trailers. I know it happened to us. Even set off the smoke detector ( or maybe it was the CO2)! Just let it run for a bit and then air out the camper.
Hope this helps.

De-Winterizing water system.....

Hi all. Here's my question. We have never used our fresh water tank and are always hooked up to the "city" water connection when we camp. I thought I'd read somewhere that if this was the case there was no need to de-winterize the fresh tank and only add some bleach to the city connection and run it thru the lines to chase out the anti freeze as normal. This is only the second time we have done it ourselves and do you think I can remember what we did last time? Does this sound right to any of you out there?
Thanks in advance....
