RE: Fifth Wheel Heigth Clearance On The Road

While Keystone may keep their RVs under 12' that doesnt mean that the trailer clearance is 12'. Options (A/C) add extra height.

RE: BATTERIES

If you are plugged in to 120v AC and you are showing low battery voltage, it is not the batteries that are bad but the converter/inverter. When plugged you should always see the full charging voltage.

RE: 17.5 or 19.5

It is my understanding that the 17.5"ers are the most prevelant and easiest to get. The G114s are made in usa.
I have been very happy with the service from Trailer Tires and Wheels. They came UPS wrapped in plastic ready to mount.

RE: spare for tire upgrade

My Goodyear 265s have a higher load cap than the 245s, if that is a concern.

RE: 17.5 or 19.5

Wheels
New wheels really dont cost that much. These wheels with Goodyear G114 which are H rated tires good for 4850# are actually .2" smaller than the G rated ones. Two wheels and tires, delivered, mounted and balanced ready to put on $1130 Your price may varry because of shipping.

RE: Another converter question

Think about it. What does a converter do? Converts AC to DC. Your vehicle is DC.

RE: Over Filled Propane Tank

An OPD is not used to properly fill a cylinder.
Either weight or venting (volumetric) is the proper method of filling a propane cylinder. The OPD is a secondary safety not to be relied upon.
Stop the insanity. OPDs are required since folks don't know the proper way to fill a propane cylinder.
Read the WC stamped on the collar. Multiply by .42 for propane. that's the weight of propane the cylinder holds (accounts for 80% full).
Add the tare weight of the cylinder, fill valve and hose and Viola = scale setting. If the OPD shuts off before full - tuff.
OPDs fail. A 30# cylinder should have a WC ~ 71.4 lbs. (x .42 = 30 lbs)
With a propane capacity of ~ 6.8 gallons. The density of propane varies with temperature.

At last someone who knows what he is talking about. It is truely amazing how much stuff is passed along on here as fact. Weight is the ONLY truely safe way to fill a portable LP tank. OPD can fail. Vent tubes can come loose on the inside.

RE: hot water heater problems

Take it to a rv repair shop. I have noticed that everyone has an opinion about how to fix LP problems, but if you dont rally know what you are doing you can burn the place down. Take it to someone who knows and watch.

RE: Strange Electrical issues... totally stumped

In my opinion the problem is 120v AC. No electric to WH= no hot water. No electric to converter= no 12v battery charger. The only stumper is the diference in brightness of the 12v lights. You need a test meter if some kind to be able to mesure 120v ac at verious places in your rig. I would start at the electric pedistal outside. Then take the cover off of the elctric panel inside and carfully measure the voltages before and after the breakers. If that is all good you may well have a wiring problem in the rig somewhere perhaps related to the 12v problem. No slam intended but if you dont know how to test around electric you may well be better off to call an electrician or RV tech.

RE: surcharges

It is my contention that those who speak badly about pricing, dont have the slightest clue about costs at campgrounds. They complain when the price includes everything. They complain when they are only charged for what they use. They complain about KOAs but they keep going to them. Sometimes there are extra charges because the local government adds them to the bill and is completly out of the hands of the campground. Ever go to a motel or hotel?

RE: Cypress Slide-out Lock

If you try to open the slide with one of the locks still in place, it will force the slide out of alignment. :-( They are also not user friendly, the screws that hold them came loose, and they weigh a lot.
I have had several 5th wheels w/ slides and none of them had locks either. I always make sure the slide is tight when closed and have not "seen" a problem with any of them to date. Not saying it cant happen.
