RE: Another dreaded weather post "Blizzard Warning"

I-29 is closed, I-94 is closed, I-35 barely passable, most snowplows in western Minnesota and North And South Dakota have been pulled off the highways. Winds right now 25 gusting to 35 and expected to increase. I've shoveled four times and the heaviest snow hasn't hit the Bemidji area yet. Hope to get out of here on Sun and get to Texas before the predicted New Years storm.

RE: Progresso Mexico

Last year we were just leaving Walmart in Weslaco when a car came tearing in with the police chasing it and it drove right through the front door of Walmart. And yes I still shop at Walmart and I will also will still buy my glasses in Nuevo Progresso. Unless this becomes a daily occurence I won't worry about it.

RE: Microwave help please

The only difference between a standard $69.00 microwave and a $200.00 RV microwave is the front surround panel. When mine failed I just measured the opening in the front panel and found a microwave that size. I had to drill four small holes to mount the old panel on the new microwave. They both happened to be Sharps.

RE: Loose grill

Go on Winnebagos website and look at the replacement parts diagrams for your model. You should be able to see what kind clip or bolt they are using.

RE: Car?

We didn't have a car the first time we went to the RGV,when the other people in our park found out we had many offers of rides. The people were constantly asking us along when they went shopping or going out to eat. We became good friends of one couple. The following year we had our Jeep with.

RE: Plates

I got the baseplates for my Jeep Cherokee on E-Bay. They basically never wear out so I figured used ones were just fine.

RE: Portable Heaters

We start the generator and use two electric heaters. They will keep the temp in the mid sixties with an outside temp of 32.

RE: Vortec vs ???????

The Vortec designation refers to the configuration of the cylinder heads. I believe the chevy V-8s were all Vortec from 1996 to the present.

RE: What did you do to your Class A MH today???

Added Auto-Park indicators with instructions from oldusedbear, changed radiator hoses and anti-freeze. Replaced outside electrical outlet, it would get water in it every time it rained and trip the ground fault breaker. Looked at a used 38ft Damon with just 7000 mi.,like new inside and out, maybe its time to trade ?

RE: Important Papers to Bring

Check the renewal date on your drivers license, you can renew anytime after October 1st for the following year in Minnesota. Mine always comes due in March when I'm in Texas or Arizona.

Removing top Hose on 454

Has anyone had trouble removing the clamp on the upper radiator hose. I can't get at the GM spring clamp from any direction. If I could get it off I know I can put a screw type clamp on and reach it from the bottom with a long extension. I'm just looking for tips. My one thought is to try to get my Dremmel tool in there and cut the clamp but I'm not sure there is enough room. My Georgie Boy is 9 yrs old and I need to change the hose.

RE: Furnace won't light

Check the Sail switch, mine had a wad of lint on it and it wouldn't move when the fan came on. It's mounted inside the blower housing and the "wind" from the fan has to close the switch before the gas solenoid can pick and allow gas flow. They are not very expensive and its easy to change.

RE: Replacing Fuel Pump

John I answered some of your questions in your earlier post but I'll repeat it here. Ford used a fuel pump cutoff switch activated by oil pressure, if the engine is not cranking the fuel pump won't pump. You can't just turn on the ignition and get fuel flow. This only applies to the electric pump. If yours does have the electric pump you will find the cutoff switch on the back of your engine on top near the left head, its next to the oil pressure sending unit and looks just like a second sending unit except it has two wires on it. You can pull the connector off and jumper the two wires together, then turn on the ignition and fuel should pump immediately if the pump is good.

RE: Won't START

My old motorhome was an 87 with a Ford 460 and a carburetor. It had an external electric fuel pump mounted on the frame behind the left rear dual. I replaced it with a new Holley pump. That motor also had an oil pressure sending unit which would shut off the fuel pump if oil pressure was lost. The switch can be jumpered to check if it is at fault. I permanently bypassed my pressure switch because it caused the engine to crank a long time before starting.
