RE: Taking delivery in about 10 days....

Welcome to the forum and congrats on your new MH.
I park our Southwind on a gravel pad and do not use pads under the tires or jacks.
When camping I don't normally use pads under the jacks, if the site isn't level I use blocks to limit how far I must extend the jacks.
When at home I leave it plugged into shore power 24/7. I check the water level in the batteries once a month.
Don't hesitate to ask questions on the forum, there's a lot of information available.
Enjoy your travels.

Congrats and best of luck to you, you are going to love having a MH.

RE: RV Park in or Around Disney world, Florida

Fort Wilderness, right in the park.
Stayed there 3 times so far, next year will be #4.
Would not even think of going anywhere else, the convenience factor is priceless.

RE: On the Hook :(

Since this topic is on the hook, what is the proper way to tow a 2006 F-53. Remove both rear axles? Driveshaft?
Hint: Dana Info
I had plenty of time to read the owners manual while waiting for the wrecker. The only things it mentioned was to remove the driveshaft (which he did) and tow from the front.

RE: On the Hook :(

Just a question: did the dealer check the left front caliber? If it was my rig, I would have the other caliber checked just to have peace of mind that it was okay.
Ray
Raymon, I did have them check it as well as rotate the tires, torque the lugs & check the tire pressure.
I think it may have been a fluke thing, I don’t know how they would be able to tell by looking at it anyway, I think it either works properly or not. Visually I would think it looks ok. Hopefully it is the first & last time this happens.

On the Hook :(

We were heading to Maine for the Columbus Day weekend, foliage & a Halloween weekend, needless to say we only made it 1 hour into the trip. We smelt a burning smell & DW asked if it was us, I said no, can’t be all gauges are good . Must be someone in front of us, then the ABS light came on . Yikes it was us after all. I pulled over to the side of the highway and that was it, it won’t move. I called roadside assistance and waited. After 1 hour of sitting I tried to move it again, after it cooled down I was able to get it off the highway. We spent the night in a Hannaford parking lot, Oh what fun. Tow truck came out 1:30pm the next day. The weekend was over. While in tow the boom of the tow truck also knocked off the left mirror, Nice. The right front caliper locked up. The Ford dealer had to replace the rotor, pads, caliper & ABS sensor (because it melted due to the heat)
Luckily it was all covered under the Ford warranty, only has 7200 miles. Our dealer called today, mirror is in. I will pick up tomorrow and install. Then we will be back in business. Luckily we carry a collapsible cooler, because the fridge was full & ready for the weekend. This is the first time in 9 years we never made it to our destination. Glad we weren’t ½ way to Disney when this happened.
All is well now, unfortunately it is time to winterize. That was our Holiday weekend in a nut shell.

RE: Leveling jacks won't retract

We have a 2002 National Tradewinds with the same manufacturers supports and ours would not retract when the fluid got too low. The result of a minor leak at one of the supports (I still need to fix that seal, but just adding fluid every 6 months seems easier).

RE: leveling jacks

I keep them up because I need to move the MH every time I use the snow blower . I don’t want to pile the snow up against it or chance throwing small rocks at it.

RE: Winterizing--Air vs Antifreeze

I do both. I blow out the lines & traps, then pump antifreeze & pour some into the traps & tanks. I know it's overkill, but I can rest easy knowing it will be safe over the winter & no surprises in the spring. Cheap insurance. :B

RE: Internet Radio

Pandora is great also. It allows you go create your own stations so you hear the style or artist of your choice. If you like a mix of everything, then radio paradise is for you..
I'll have to give it a try. I am hooked on this station at the moment. They also have Jazz Sunday mornings from 10am-1pm & Big Band Hits Sunday nights from 7-10pm. I like the big band stuff too.
Glad I was turned onto this station.
Safe Travel'n to you all.

Internet Radio

Hello all, I found a really good Country Music Station, It's an internet radio station. Playing all of today's country hits & more. I listened to it this weekend at the campsite. I plugged the iphone into the aux port & had really good music playing while sitting by the campfire. Also nice to listen to while playing on line games with the laptop at the same time, or listening while reading this forum :)
It is US66Radio

RE: From MA to NJ

Couple of possibilities. Take the Pike to Sturbridge and follow 84 all the way to the Thruway (87) near Newburgh, NY then south to 287 to the Turnpike. In my opinon that is the easiest even though it is the longest. The other is Pike, 84 to 684 south, to 287, cross the Tappan Zee Bridge and follow the sign for the NJ Turnpike. A little shorter - more traffic. Done both with my 34' class a.
Both keep you out of NYC and the dreaded George Washington Bridge.
X2-this is our usual southern route.
Todd
X3, I take the Tappan Zee route on our way to Florida.
Good Luck with the race
