RE: EZ Pass

I only use my EZ Pass a few trips each year but it is well worth it in my opinion.
Each state EZ Pass is a little different. Example, the Pell Bridge in RI is a $4.00 toll with or without EZ Pass, but RI residents pay 83 cents with EZ Pass. The RI system does not charge for inactivity but some states do charge for inactivity. If you have a New Hampshire EZ Pass you get a discount on tolls even if you are not a New Hampshire resident, at least they used to, I don't know if that has changed recently.
I only have one transponder and all the places I have gone so far will automaticaly figure out if I am towing and charge acordingly. Some states do require a seperate transponder if you are towing.
It would be best to check the rules for the states you plan to travel the most and see which state EZ pass (or Illinois I-Pass) would be best for you.

RE: Dometic 2652 fine on 110v not on gas

There may NOT be a thermocouple, contrary to my previous opinion and my experience with my own 2652.
THIS LINK is a PDF for troubleshooting, aka "DIAGNOSTIC SERVICE MANUAL".
Down on page 17 is this:
Units that have integrated igniter do not have a thermocouple. The igniter senses the flame thru the electrode and communicates with the lower main control. The integrated igniter used on certain Dometic model refrigerators operates on 12 volt DC thru the control board. On gas operation the igniter senses the resistance through the flame between the electrode and burner. When there is no flame at the burner, the resistance is high and the igniter begins sparking to light the burner. As soon as the flame is lit, the resistance between the electrode and burner drops and the igniter stops sparking. The resistance is monitored by the igniter, and, if for any reason the flame goes out, the igniter begins sparking until the burner is lit.
It seems the newer Dometic units may not have a thermocouple. I "assumed" they all did.

RE: polish/wax for decals

Some time back there was a thread about using Lemon Pledge and a microfiber cloth. I did try it on one stripe decal (2002 vintage) and it seemed to boost the color. The 303 is a great product for keeping the sun off good decals, never tried it on the lemon pledge.

RE: Dometic 2652 fine on 110v not on gas

Use alcohol to clean the gas jet then blow it out with compressed air. The jet will unscrew from the burner body with a small socket wrench ... I forget which size. I did use alcohol on a Q-tip to clean the burner tube (the part you see the flame) but usually it only needs some compressed air.

RE: Dometic 2652 fine on 110v not on gas

Clean the burner tube and the gas jet. Do not poke a wire through the gas jet, use compressed air and alcohol.
This is a low flame that can sometimes cause the burner to shut down because the controller thinks there is no flame. (see 2nd pix)

This is a good flame after cleaning.

RE: Overnighting somewhere ner Boston

There is a Cracker Barrel off 495 at exit 39 in Tewksbury. The meals are good there but I don't know their policy on overnighting. Many Cracker Barrels encourage it.
edited to add: There is also a Cracker Barrel in Wrentham (exit 15) but there is not much parking and I have see a sign that says "no overnight parking". The Wrentham Mall next to it is huge with lots of parking but I don't know if overnighting is allowed.

RE: What meals to cook in advance?

One meal we like on hot evenings is really a non-cooking meal.
We make a "summer salad" that is always a bit different. Start with some torn lettuce, toss in a can of tuna (drained), torn up sliced salami, beets (canned, sliced or ..), sliced cucumber, green beans, provalone cheese, maybe slices of hardboiled egg, and whatever .... with an oil/vinegar dressing and some fresh italian bread and butter.
One caution, if we leave it in the fridge for a day, the canned beets turns everything red.

RE: V8 4Runner + 19 foot TT (Four Winds Breeze) towable??

I have an '08 4Runner V8 with factory tow option. My TT is 24 ft. ball to bumper and hits the scale at 5100# loaded for travel (including food and water). That said, I have no problem towing or accelerating onto the Interstate.

RE: Dentures?????

Uppers only for 20+ years. It does take some time to get used to them but I eat anything I want, corn on the cob included. Silly as it may sound, the strangest thing is not being able to feel the roof of your mouth with your tongue.
One word of warning, on the first day with uppers, DON'T eat a peanut butter and jelly sandwich ... at least in front of other people. :o

I always like to start with ruling out the cheap and easy things first which in my case and yours was the solution.
Glad to see that was all you needed. :B .... and thanks for the followup so we all know how it turned out.

RE: Maine Seacoast Sights

... Red's Eats in Wiscasset: decent food, but a horror if you're towing anything. No place to park except along the river ...Just down the hill from Red's there is a mostly dirt road next to the railroad tracks and the river. I was one of several trailers parked there last Fall. It looks loke a dead end road but you CAN turn around at the end. :B

RE: Dometic RM2652 fridge flue cleaning

I had that problem once and thought the flame was good ...
http://i39.tinypic.com/5v3mnk.jpg
... but after I cleaned the burner tube and gas jet it looked better
http://i41.tinypic.com/4j9y50.jpg
The first picture was good enough to keep the gas valve open but it didn't cool very well (45 to 50). The second picture keeps it 33 to 35.
Mine is also a RM2652

RE: Refrigerator vent duct fans

....
All your electronic devices like computers, tv's, dvr's, xbox etc... all have the fans sucking the hot air out, not blowing air in because it is more efficient that way. Most of the servers and fiber optic muxes we had in the telcom world had the fans sucking air IN. The fans pulled air in through filters that we had to change regularly.
