RE: Help sensitive to smoke

I was camp-hosting last summer, and it seemed the wind funneled all of the charcoal & wood smoke right at my rig each weekend. By the end of the summer I was wheezing. I went out and bought an air purifier, and on weekends I would run the purifier and shut up the rig for three days.
However, that's probably not an option for a weekend camper.

RE: Moving from a TT to Class A ????

Zackyboy, I have a 35-foot, 2000 Holiday Rambler Vacationer gasser with two slides. It's not much by the "boy toy" standards here, but it had 17K miles on it when I got it three years ago, and I've had wonderful experiences while putting 13K more miles on it since.

RE: It must be winter

A few years ago, in this VERY forum, Dianne started me down that dark and dodgy road of volunteering (tee-hee!) and I am grateful that I was nudged in that direction. I have wondered while reading some of these rants whether we don't tread a little close to creating liabilities for RV.net. Business libel (all that is required for libel is a damaging untruth + publication) can be very expensive.
Perhaps those who want feedback on a particular employer or volunteer site should solicit PMs from those with first-hand information. But those with glowing reviews should not restrain themselves from bursting forth with praise. We need to support those who provide us with welcoming and supportive paid and volunteer positions.
And Dianne, thanks for all that you & the other Mods do. It truly is a labor of love.

RE: 1999 Holliday Rambler Vacationer ??'s

I have a 2000 Vacationer with a '99 F53 Ford chassis. I've had no trouble with my V10 engine.

RE: Gas MH owners who changed shocks

I put Bilsteins on 3 years ago, plus Steer-Safe, and I'm thrilled with the added stability. Driving across West Texas, I thought it was odd that there was no wind. I stepped out at a rest stop and was nearly blown off my feet.

RE: Entry Steps

Funny. I went the other way. When I pulled up the carpet & installed laminate wood floors, I had them install deeply grooved rubber steps, like you'd find on a school bus. I could see myself go flying when I took the dogs out for a midnight pee in my stocking feet. That actually happened with my carpeted steps.

RE: INSTALLING HOME CONCRETE RV PAD ?

Re: the length of the slab, it doesn't need to be as long as your friend's RV ... just enough for the wheel base if there is enough room on your property for the rear end to overhang. Using bricks or lumber to support the rear jacks is much cheaper than concrete.

RE: Outa' Round Tires and Wheels on a new Coach

I had what my mechanic called a "death rattle" at 45 mph. Two new front tires fixed the problem. Drives like a dream now.

Am I missing something? Mine already lifts up, allowing me to store things underneath. Thought it was standard.

RE: switching dinette for table,chairs

It can be done, depending on your carpentry skills. All pros, no cons. Make sure the table is bolted to the floor when you are driving. Chairs have NEVER moved.
M
I've had flying chairs. They are strapped in when the rig is in motion.

RE: Outfitting the RV

When I got my RV, I went to Wal Mart and just duplicated in the RV all of the "stuff" I regularly use in my S&B kitchen (spatulas, measuring spoons, knives, whisks, kitchen towels, etc.). They were very inexpensive. So all I have to do is just "transfer" the refrigerator stuff, bring my clothes in and go. I can shop on the road.
I like using real plates & flatware. I did invest in a good stainless steel nesting cookware set such as this (I have a different brand which appears to be no longer available). With detachable handles, the set takes up a horizontal space no larger than a fry pan.
The bed stays made up, and I also keep a set of bath towels in the RV, and first-aid & other "stuff" in the medicine cabinet. I do bring all my cosmetics & such from the S&B.

RE: Something for your RV that far exceeded your expectations?

Love my homemade lighweight wood steps to go over the metal ones. They work good for our pooch with hip problems and for me after my Miller Lite problems getting in and out of the TT.:B
Picture please? I have elderly dogs as well. ;)

RE: Ding Dong

Why not a intercom with a light on it. Flashing light comes on when you call him ... How about a clip-on device that vibrates whenever you call? ... Why not use these little family radios. They beep as well as you could tell him what kind of wine you would like. When pigs fly!
How about just tying a string on him and giving him a YANK?
