RE: Off Clip On's, have you tried them yet?

Saw the Off clip-on's at Amazon for $10.99 and the refills $4.99, Had one review so far and he wrote that it seemed to attract the mosquito's!
We used the Thermacells last summer and were very impressed with their ability to keep mosquito's and flies away from us.

Chicago Route Question (Texas to Mettawa)

We are driving to Chicago-Land for a wedding and on a Friday in late July, around noon, we will be in the area. We will not be pulling anything.
The hotel is in Mettawa, just off I-94 and Kennedy Road.
We are coming from the south. I just looked at an Illinois road construction site online and it showed quite a bit of construction on 294.
Would we better off taking IH-39 north around Normal and then driving East on IH-90 (looks like a toll road?)
I have performed a search but could not find any answers specific to our destination and route.
Thanks!

Video clips on a digital picture frame questions

Yesterday I saw some video clips on a digital picture frame. I didn't realize that you could play video on one of these.
I did some "shopping" searches today and found that some play video but I have questions that I couldn't seem to find the answers to.
Can you play video that is on the memory card? Or do you have to hookup the frame to your camera?
I am only able to view my Kodak camera video clips with Quick Time player. Would I still be able to play video if the frames work without the camera?
Does anyone own a frame and could you explain how this works?
Thanks.

RE: 12v hairdryer....is it possible???

Terri,
Do you need the hairdryer to style your hair or just to dry it? If just to dry, I would go with the fan if you can.
I have a butane hair curler that works for me when boondocking. This might be something to ninvest in for styling your hair.
We have a generator but I just don't bother much with my hair when boondocking. I usually just wear a baseball cap! But I do understand your concerns.

RE: Choke Canyon

There is a fishing dock near the boat ramp at the State Park Calliham unit. The campsites are not site specific. You can make a reservation but you have to see what sites are available.
Not sure about the birding.
The South Shore (State Park) unit no longer has overnight camping. Just day use.
There is a little park next to the Valero refinery called Tips Park. We have overnighted there when the state park was full. It has grassy sites.
If you have a dog watch out for the burrs on the ground at the state park.

RE: O H Ivie Lake Texas

Elm Creek Village also has some RV Sites . You have to watch the slideshow--that's where the photos and prices are.
This article has some additional info.
Here is some access info from Texas Parks and Wildlife.
We camped at Concho Park way back in 2002 and then at Elm Creek in 2003.
Not sure what condition either park is in. It's difficult (for me, anyway) to find info on Concho park but here is one more info link.

RE: Handy Hints, Gadgets, Products & Gizmos

This isn't really a hint for the RV--just a general hint that I wanted to share this Christmas.
I try to recyle every item that I can.
During the months of November and December, I save cereal and cracker boxes. I use them to wrap gifts in. I enjoy trying to disguise my gifts. These boxes are a good size for books, DVD movies and music CD's, etc. After Christmas we fold them flat and put them in the recycling bin.
Merry Christmas everyone!
