RE: Auto step just stopped working

The most common problem for your type problem is a defective motor. It has a dead spot in the windings. Troubleshooting takes 30 seconds. Open and close the entry door. If the AMBER step light comes on and off when you open and close the door, the step module and wiring are OK. When it fails, you have someone open and close the door and you tap on the motor with a hammer. IF the step motor then operates the motor is bad. Always do your testing with the engine running. The extra 1 to 2 volts from the engine helps activate a bad motor. Doug We followed Doug' advice about a year ago and he is right on the money. Light was on so ordered a replacement motor from Amazon and had it delivered to the Elks Lodge we were staying at. Replaced it the next day which was a piece of cake. Works great now. Thanks again Doug for your expert advice as always.

RE: Motorcycles or scooters and Toads

Please Please do NOT buy a hitch extender from Harbor Freight or any other cheap one. We did that to put our bikes on the hitch and extend to the Jeep. TRUST me it will eventually break loose and.....well you will look in your rear mirror and see your tow vehicle passing you. Thanks goodness hubby is a truck driver and stayed calm and slowed down nice and slow. Bikes were on hood of Jeep but all else was ok.

RE: Whats the current best VENT FAN?

Thats a great report for sure! How would you compare your 25 year old fan to your current model? In terms of noise, air flow, overall construction if you have an eye for it. Sounds like someone fishing for business aka troll..

RE: CG recommendations / Northern California

Sandy Beach, Brannan Island SP, Suger Barge, Vieras, Jelly Stone (used to be Tower Park) very expensive. These are a few that come to mind...Duck Island is a very nice 55+ park with no frills but full hookups. On edit after looking at your rig there is another small RV park right in Rio Vista. It's next to the "Point" Restaurant. I can't recall the name but I'm sure if you check around you will find it.

Slide creeps out

We have hydraulic slides and one of our bedroom slides creeps out after a few days or so while in storage about 3 inches. Nothing appears to be leaking as far a a seal etc. What do I look for now ?

RE: Looking for new insurance

First off pick up the phone and call Progressive and let them know your going to cancel because of the increase. Inquire why and you might be surprised of your new rate they give you or why it was raised. Then Shop on...

RE: Fresh Water Fill new 5th Wheel Questions

We have the similar situation when dry camping so we purchased a Pump we plug into the back of the toad and have a water belly...holds 40 gals. Kind of like a water bed and pump it into the rig. No way to pour water without any pressure in ours. Kind of a silly set up but we made it work. We can visibly see when our tank is full which helps.

RE: 2014 Grand Cherokee Toad

We have the 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited and have never had a problem with the wobble etc. We use the older Brake Buddy, plug it in set to Neutral with a silly ink pin and were good to go.

RE: Atwood 3 burner stove grate

Not sure what brand mine is but the grates don't look bad but...they sure are warped and hard to get the pan to lay flat. :h Maybe I shouldn't cook so much LOL

RE: Flat tow a 2015 Hyundai Sonata or a Tucson

Always check owners manual, it will tell you if the vehicle can be towed. Be very careful..Not all tell the truth..Most say the Jeep Cherokee can be towed all for down. NOT TRUE The Grand Cherokee with the tow option is a must. FYI Friends bought a Cherokee (not grand) and were told they could tow. $4k later with adaptions made they can tow now.

RE: Having the hardest time buying a new class A

You might want to look at an older Diesel Pusher that you can pick up for about 100K. They do hold their value and most will run longer than we will.

RE: Tire hello

How would insurance pay for that. The tire company (Les Schwab) that came out did not charge us a dime to replace the valve stem. Had they charged us for roadside assistance you simply pay upfront and get reimbursed from your RV Insurance Co. We happen to have Progressive and they reimbursed for roadside assistance before.

RE: Tire hello

Think twice about going with Good Sam...Trust me anytime I tried to call for help with a tire on a 40 ft. MH they would only tow it. (Not going to happen) Explained until I was blue in the face that I just needed a commercial tow truck to bring a tire...errrrg or actually in our case replace the faulty valve stem. Very frustrating. Never had any luck with GS re: tire help. For what its worth..pay out of you pocket for a Tire shop to come out and replace and get reimbursed from your ins. company.
