RE: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}

It's over.
Dash and I have been through a lot together, including times when he was pretty destructive, but that was part of who he was and what he became, which was the best friend and companion any one could ask for. I called him “Mini-Max” because of how he shadowed old Max when he was a pup. His breeder called him “The Instigator” because of the way he started things with his siblings and the way he always tried to be the one in control. He would wrestle with them, often initiating one-on-one matches, although he would whine when he was on the bottom. After 13+ years, he hadn't changed a bit: I honestly believe he thought that the entire household would fall apart without him. He may be right.
Dash had lost much of his mobility and all of his bowel control. Today, I helped Dash pass on to the Bridge to be with his mentor. He now has his youth, mobility, health and dignity back, and he can once again be on top.
Run free, little Yawny, Sayonara, my Mini-Max, my Instigator, we will be together again at the Rainbow Bridge.
I am so sorry about Dash but know he is all better at the bridge. I know this is very late but we have been away so lo g just got to read the forum today and just wanted to send sympathy knowing how hard this is.

RE: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}

Sue and I have created this situation by giving them scraps from the table at the evening meal. Okay so the truth is out now, yes we are quilty
Don't feel bad as we also give ours treats from the table. They even eat vegatables. LOL our Tascha will even eat salad cause we eat it. Deisel loves the green beans added to his diet cause he is realllllllly over weight. His poor hips even look like mine. Bless hids heart. Lottie and Ebony are the only slim ones in the bunch.Well hubby is is rather slim also.

My Tascha also is moving really slow. She dosen't limp but just takes it slow and easy. She just turned 9 last month but age 9 for a Shar pei is a good age. I just pray we have her around for many more years. She has always been my heart dog. We got her at 3 months old so we are the only home she remembers. Breeder said she was the bad puppy in the litter and they had to confine her by herself at times. She does love being the boss but she is my sweetheart.

RE: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}

I guess our next camping trip will be to the mountains in October. I don't know where we will go yet but I am thinking of Helen, Georgia. Sue and I enjoy the setting that Helen has with its appearance of an Alpine village. The shops are neat and have a lot of interesting things to offer. There is always the shops that offer all kinds of bakery goods, donuts, fudge, turnovers of all kinds, yep I like it a lot.
Is Helen anywhere close to Atlanta/ Powder Springs? We will be heading to Powder Springs to visit 2 of the Grand children this week. Always have a hard time trying to find a campground in an area close to them.
Last time we stayed at Alachua? (spelling) Lake but you are only suppose to have 2 dogs and this time we have 4 so not sure what or where we will find a spot.

RE: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}

Glad you all had a safe trip and the fur babies are doing so well. I know this heat really takes a lot out of them.
We waited til dark then took all 4 for a ride down the strip in Pigeon Forge to look at all the antique cars and the rods. This is antique and rod run week. We try to be here each year just to see all the beautiful old cars. My hubby says it reminds him of when he was a young man going to town on Saturday night to "sweep the square" and drive the one street through town. He says it is like a thousand Saturday nights all rolled into one.

RE: Madison, WI to Knoxville or Nashville need route

I-90 east to I-290. South on I-290 to I-294. I-294 to I-80 east. East on I-80 to I-65 south. We passed Elgin about 2:30 pm. were southbound on I-65 by 4:30. Lots of stopping for toll booths and lanes were narrowed for construction in several places. Traffic was always moving, was within the speed limit, and other drivers were courteous in letting us change lanes as needed. This route was recommended by our mapping program, not sure it was the best one to take. Tolls were about $20. lizzie
We live in the Chicago area and one thing the drivers are always very courteous. We drove thru that mess to work for 40 years before retirement. We haven't found any area where the drivers are so curteous. We thought the Wa. DC area and northern VA a nightmare to travel so far the worst we have experienced.

RE: Grand island koa,never stop there again.

We have used KOA campgrounds a lot as we like their off leash dog parks. We have stayed there in many different States and so far have never had a negative experience other than a few with poor internet connections. I will say our furry friends love to run and play off leash after a long day of driving.

RE: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}

We put food in the frig on Thursday. Our tribe stuck to us like glue afraid they might get left behind. I don't know why as we have never left them at home. Anyway they were ready when we finally left Friday morning. Sometimes I think they love to travel and go camping more than us humans.

RE: Was this a lowball offer

We have dealt with House of Campers quite a bit and they are honest to deal with. They have even sent Jim ( the worker) to our house to fix the dreaded stereo system. We don't have the Rockwood any longer but still buy supplies there occasionally. They are good people to work with.
