RE: It Smells Different!

From "How Stuff Works" Propane is particularly useful as a portable fuel because its boiling point is -44 F (-42 C). That means that even at very low temperatures, it will vaporize as soon as it is released from its pressurized container. This results in a clean-burning fuel that doesn't require a lot of equipment to vaporize it and mix it with air. A simple nozzle will suffice. Butane's boiling point is approximately 31 F (-0.6 C), which means it will not vaporize in very cold temperatures. This is why butane has more limited uses and is mixed with propane instead of being used by itself. http://www.picgifs.com/smileys/smileys-and-emoticons/barbecue/smileys-barbecue-161087.gif

Thanks for your opinion though, Mocoondo. However, it would be nice if you didn't come off like you are trying to be rude. Jose That is what the blocking feature is for. :B

RE: looking for our first trailer

IMO, the dump pipes are waaay to low. They are going to hang up on something eventually and it will be a real mess. The factory awning material installed is about $600 to $700 installed. If everything else is original, at that age you will be replacing lot of expensive items soon, including the roof if it is rubber and that could be 4 to 6K or more. I would be more concerned with water leaks than anything else. You were right in the first place, newer would be better. BTW, Welcome to the forum.

RE: Sears? Heads Up

How about TG&Y...... It was a five & dime store when I was a kid. They had the round stick on caps for a toy six shooter, I think they were green in color.

RE: Double Towing Behind Motorhome

As a retired California LEO, I can pretty much assure you that you will be stopped, most likely ticketed, and perhaps have your boat impounded if you travel in California. From the California Recreational Handbook: "It’s easy to forget you are towing a car when driving a large RV because you can’t see it. So remember to allow extra space when entering a freeway or passing another vehicle so you won’t cut off the other driver. Your vehicle combination cannot exceed 65 feet. However, cities and counties may prohibit vehicle combination lengths over 60 feet, when posted (CVC §35401). One other thing to consider—you may only tow one vehicle with your noncommercial Class A, B, or C driver license. You may not tow two vehicles or trailers with a noncommercial Class A, B, or C driver license. EXAMPLE:You cannot tow a boat trailer and a car behind your vehicle." Your Nevada license is recognized in California but safety regulations, such as triple towing are not reciprocal. Your combination could be considered an unsafe vehicle and as such must be parked until made safe. In your example, depending on where you were stopped, it may be necessary to have your boat towed/impounded if it cannot be safely parked until you can remove it from the highway right of way....I hope this helps....Dennis Great info!!! Thanks Dennis!

RE: Need help with New Braunfels, TX store

So did it ever get fixed? I have been in the research/shopping phase in my journey toward purchasing my first RV. The choice seems to be coming down to the FR3 or the Thor Ace. One is at campers inn and one is at CW. This saga has made me rethink my choices. RVing was supposed to be a retirement de-stressor after 36 years of stress. An experience like your after spending 80 to 100 k might push me over the edge. You are to be admired for your patience. I sincerely hope things have worked out for you and the RVing can again be what you had hoped for. Mike S K1vtr. Cape cod ma Well said and X2, best of luck in the future.

RE: Need help with New Braunfels, TX store

Not a happy buying experience, thanks for posting the outcome. I hope everyone can take something from this to avoid problems in the future. But since both the selling dealer and the manufacturer let you down I don't know what else you could have done.

RE: Eternabond job is in my future now where do I buy the stuff?

Best Materials used to be very competitive. I don't know if they still are. I'll add this: Eternabond products are just plain drop-dead-good! I have purchased about 6 or 8 rolls from Best Materials, they have the best selection. But for just a roll of 4 or 6 inch Amazon is the best deal I found lately.

RE: Sourcing and Shipping

I am sure you must have thought of this but I have to ask. Do the newer fords like yours have coil springs up front? If so why not air bags? Seems easier to install and cheaper, plus adjustable. http://www.picgifs.com/smileys/smileys-and-emoticons/barbecue/smileys-barbecue-161087.gif

RE: Priming the carb

Perfect idea, I did it about eight years ago. I let the fuel pump run for about five seconds, continue to hold the bypass switch, pump the throttle six or seven times and then turn the key. Release the switch after it starts. Mine now starts almost instantly every time, great improvement. You can also listen to see how the pump is running if you are having trouble.

RE: Hard to pull release handle

Even professional truck drivers need a little relief sometimes, especially when hooking and un- hooking several times a day. I have seen several use a handle / hook about two or three feet long with a handle on one end and a hook on the other. It's more about not getting grease on your sleeve/shoulder or getting dirt/muck from the drive tires on you. The bottom of the bolster plate is covered with grease. If the 5th wheel was over greased the handle will also be greasy. Most use the hook to stay clean. Have a nice day!!!

RE: Cheated at Camping World....Madison, WI service dept.

"Turned on the water heater but didn't clean it." What did you ask them to do? "They said they changed the oil in the generator but didnt put in a new oil filter" Some gens don't have filters - could have been an honest mistake. From what little info your giving us it seems like your over reacting. Have a nice day!!!
