RE: Leeking Batterys

Never fill a discharged battery before charging.
Never fill higher than the very bottom of the plastic tube with a split in it.
Finally someone got it RIGHT!
The battery shop that had sold and installed my 4 new 12V deep cycle house batteries told me exactly that.
At two months old those batteries where boiling/leaking out of the caps, (I had filled them to the split ring prior to charging them).
A tech sucked electrolyte out of each cell of each battery, (down to the level of the very BOTTOM of the split/tube).
I have maintained the electrolyte at that level, (using distilled water), for the past 6 years with no problems.
I check the level every three months and usually have to add water twice a year, (your mileage may vary). LOL

RE: 1984 Fleetwood Jamboree E350 - fuel pump / filter?

Very clean looking rig, mine has the exact same paint job and stripping but is only 23.5 feet bumper to bumper.
Amazing that you still have the original hub caps, running boards and roof air.

RE: 1984 Fleetwood Jamboree E350 - fuel pump / filter?

Glad to hear you got everything working, nice job!
Enjoy your new classic rig, I have had mine for ten years and driven it over 40,000 miles. I did not think I would keep it this long, but it is just right for us.
What model do you have? I have the model "P" with the full rear lounge / bed and a side bath right behind the drivers seat.
Be sure to come back to the Forum with some updates on your future repair adventures.

RE: 1984 Fleetwood Jamboree E350 - fuel pump / filter?

My understanding is that the low pressure in tank pumps used for a carburetor will allow fuel to be pulled through them.
The high pressure fuel injection pumps will not.
The external frame mounted pump was already on my rig when I bought it, a friend of mine has the exact twin of my RV and his original in tank pump finally quite last year. He added the same Holly external pump I have and it worked perfect with out touching the tank or the in tank pump.
BUT, like you say, on an old rig like ours we can never be sure what someone has done before us.
As some others have suggested a few cans of Sea Foam in the gas would probably be a good idea too.
Sometimes chasing problems on older rigs can be frustrating due to multiple combination issues. Yours could be a combination of both electrical and fuel, then throw in a couple symptoms that are intermittent and it gets crazy.
I like your idea about using the genny fuel line in an emergency, that is another good plan B.
Good luck.

RE: 1984 Fleetwood Jamboree E350 - fuel pump / filter?

Thomas, welcome to the Forum!
I have the same rig as you and I run 6 and 1/2 pounds of fuel pressure.
Lots of info on this subject that a bunch of guy's have hashed over a few times.

RE: What does your RV forum name mean?

Nice thread, humorous and interesting.
My moniker came from a combination of beer making and a propensity to wreck food over an outside heat source.
“Black is a Seasoning” and “The smoke detector is my timer”

Dog Harness lift system I ordered this today. Hope it will work for Mama
That looks pretty good, I wish I had that for a couple of my Dobies that had a tough time toward the end. http://www.picgifs.com/smileys/smileys-and-emoticons/barbecue/smileys-barbecue-161087.gif

RE: Generator Startup Proceedure

Make sure you have at least a half a tank of gas. The pick up for the generator is usually about 1/4 up from the bottom of the tank.

Good on YOU!
I could tell OP was a daughter. We have two daughters and I've never been sorry for no son(s). Not that sons'd be bad, just that daughters are wonderful. And ours can change oil, tires, brakes, alternators, etc. But they're also lovely ladies, All Girl! Girls Rock!

RE: Qest fitting plumbing issue

If it is just the threads that are leaking you could put some silicone on the male threads only and see if that stops the leak. This has worked for me many times.

RE: Qest fitting plumbing issue

Well, at least Lowes sells PEX by the foot and Shark Bite fittings too that you could try as an experiment.
