RE: My new TV

take pictures, save them to a folder on your computer, upload them to photobucket, copy the 'direct link' and paste it into the form on the web site.

RE: TT Stolen

I guess the next one will have one of those little GPS locator units on it. Yep, that's why we installed a GPS security system for campers on our rig. It's not the best looking nor the newest, but it is OURS and we'd like to keep it that way! Bad stuff OP, perhaps get yourself a security system for your house? At least you'd have pictures and such then.

RE: Can either of these fans be made to run on 12V?

RE: Full Recharge Using Solar

In line resistor to your inverter so it never sees more than 14 volts.

That setup has to be the most "white knuckle driving" of anything on the road! You can't fix STUPID! Darwin can ;)

RE: Partial Hitch Receiver Failure - NEW PHOTO

No, it looks like it cracked right on the weld and up through the top plate. I don't see any excess rust here.

RE: Partial Hitch Receiver Failure - NEW PHOTO

I have never seen a cast iron hitch receiver. Welded steel, yes. But never a cast iron hitch. Who makes them? There was someone else on here last summer? That had a hitch receiver crack on them. The close up of the crack revealed it was cast.

RE: Partial Hitch Receiver Failure - NEW PHOTO

"V" grind out the cracked area and weld. Unless it's steel and not cast iron that wont work.

RE: Step one. Bought the van.

Turn your feed speed down a smidge. Thanks for the tip. I'm forever messing with the wire speed and current. It never fails that when I get it dialed in just right I'll change over to welding something different. If my livelihood depended on my welding ability, I'd starve. Lol that's okay! A good weld shouldn't be bubbled up, material doesn't make the weld, the penetration does. Low feed speed (I rarely go above 1 unless I'm filling in a hole) and a power setting of A or B is good for most materials. A gentle C motion while you're joining a seam will get you the best looking and strongest weld. Slow and steady is the name of the game.

RE: This is why you don't take your trailer on the beach!

im guessing fake I stand with those that say Pismo Beach. Even though a small area in the picture, my years of going to that area and seeing some amazing sights makes me vote for Pismo. Don't kid yourself about it being a fake picture. When you drive up to the rangers booth to check in they have several pictures similar to that one. The main cause is people setting up during low tide and waking up in the water. Happened to my son's bestfriend the first time he took his toyhauler to Pismo. They coudn't understand why my son wouldn't set up his hauler closer to the water. You can't fix stupid, but sometimes inexperience is disguised as stupid. RT I would imagine common sense would dictate setting my multi 5 figure rig up as far away from the ocean as possible. But mistakes happen, at least they weren't injured.

Just watched it, that's insane. Who would be stupid enough to think, you know what, never mind. Humans continue to amaze me.

RE: GPS with overhead clearances ?

You could try a trucker GPS that supports vehicle height so it routes you around low bridges.

Need help finding a build thread

The camper has been referenced a few times here but I can't seem to nail the search terms to bring it up. It was built by a couple using alumalite walls, a used truck that they removed the bed on, and built a totally rugged offroad boondocking rig with. There is a picture in the blog with the wife standing on a sheet of the alumalite that's supported at the edges with saw horses. Does any of this ring a bell?

RE: Where can I find a replacement solar panel?

Do you have a Camping world nearby. Have you googled solar panel dealers. Solar panel kits for RV's They also sell individual panels so you can just replace the one you currently have.

A dash of salt raises the boiling temp of the water a bit too.

RE: omnidirectional tv antenna suggestions please?

I've used this one on a boat and it works great... 12 volt omnidirectional powered TV antenna Thanks, I hadn't seen that one. It isn't omnidirectional but it appears that it would be easy to use with a remote. Still kind of big though at 21" x 7". FREE off-air HD, 360° directional reception. It says it is, I haven't had any issues with it.
