RE: disability hearing???

If it wasn't for all the able-bodied folks trying to get on disability, this wouldn't be an issue. I live in middle Tennessee and it seems that every able-bodied male has one goal in mind... to get on disability.
Shameful.

RE: WiFi Ranger 6.6.2 is in the wild!

I had a WiFi Ranger Sky and it failed when their Tech Support tried to update it. True to their word, they replaced the unit. Works great now with the latest firmware.
Kudos to WiFi Ranger... for great Customer Support

Another great campground

Town and Country Campground in Savage, MN (outskirts of Minneapolis).
I was visiting friends in Burnsville, MN and stayed here for 3 days. I got a great spot and thoroughly enjoyed the campground. Would definitely come back.

Stoney Creek RV Resort - Osseo, WI

I am on my way to the Minneapolis area, and happened to stop by the campground in Osseo, WI.
This is a beautiful campground. Lots of trees. Very quiet even though it is a "family friendly" campground. Lots of activities. Pool, miniature golf, on site short order cafe.
Friendly staff and the grounds are immaculate.
Highly recommended if you're in the area.
Forgot to add: no generators allowed. :)

Nexus RV

I just spent the last 2 days at the Nexus Factory. I bought my Nexus Class C 13 months ago. I had a couple of minor issues I needed taken care of... namely the backup camera and a couple of other issues.
On the way to Elkhart I stopped in a campground outside of Indianapolis. The sun was pretty bright when I pulled in so I put the awning out. Next morning, I packed everything up, checked everything (I thought) and pulled out. You can guess the rest. Yep, I left the awning out. Got almost out of the campground when the awning hit one of the lamp posts. Tore it up pretty bad. Contacted a local RV service person and they removed the awning.
Proceeded on to Nexus. I had scheduled 3 days for the stuff I needed attended to. At the end of the first day, they had replaced the awning and fixed all but one of the other things on my list. By noon the second day, they were done.
When presented with a bill, I was flabergasted. Most of the stuff was at No Charge, even though it wasn't under warranty. The awning, they replaced at their cost, plus a minor amount for labor. As you might imagine, I was pleasantly surprised.
While I was there I got to inspect the new Nexus Ghost close up. This is an awesome unit for anyone looking for a C+. Nothing compares when you match feature for feature and price.
By the way, for anyone looking for a Phoenix Cruiser, Nexus has several late models (2012 and 2013) that were trade-ins. You can probably make a good deal on one.
As you can tell, I'm a big Nexus fan, and if anyone has any questions about them from an owner's point of view, feel free to send me a private message.

RE: Use of Generators to run Air Conditioners when camping

........ If it bothers you, I would suggest that you're the one in the wrong campground.
That is the attitude that has me pissed off about generator use.
Here's a question for you: You want quiet. Do I say you're selfish for wanting quiet?
I want A/C... but I'm the one that's selfish.
I think we should just agree that we all want what we want, and if we don't get it we're gonna be unhappy and the other guy is at fault.
For the record, I don't make a habit of camping where there is no hookups. I would prefer to not run the A/C at night. But if I happen to be somewhere and it's not against the rules, and it's hot, and I don't have a hookup, the genny is going on for the A/C.
Feel free to use the side of your RV as a movie screen, or let your kids run wild, or have a smokey campfire. You won't hear me complaining.

RE: Use of Generators to run Air Conditioners when camping

Many people nowadays, associate dry camping with the use of a generator, so they can make coffee in the morning and watch tv in the afternoon. Another direction we are headed that I'm not happy with.
We associate generators with unrestricted-by-weather drycamping. We paid hard earned money for an RV that is self-contained and we use it as such to be comfortable. We do not "tent camp" inside a cold, or hot, or dark, box just to stay on battery power day after day - even though we do have a good AGM battery system.
We use our quiet well-built-in (by Winnebago) generator to be comfortable without hookups. We rockhound in the Western deserts and we do run the Onan generator for air conditioning as needed (sometimes all day of it's too scorching outside to be out there) in the middle of nowhere so we don't have to restrict our camping to only spots with comfortable weather. The DW doesn't care for high altitudes and we can't see sitting around the S&B house all summer not camping - life is too short for that.
Above 90 degrees our A/C will get used any time of day whether in low humidity (Western U.S.) or (and especially) in high humidity (Southeastern U.S.). For example, we toured the Southeastern U.S. in 2009 in July-August and were doing general sight-seeing. As such we had to camp at low altitudes in 90+ degree temperatures and 80+ % humidities - sometimes with no hookups. We would never have been able to make this trip and sight-see if we would have had to do it only in cooler weather, or only at higher altitudes, and/or while trying to weave in between the tornado and hurricane seasons.
There is no substitute for an RV than can be used for comfortable camping anytime of the year and in any (U.S.) place. IMHO, you can't have this kind of freedom without a generator ... we bring two along: The built-in Onan for high power and a small Honda EX650 for battery charging with a loudness that is only 54dB when at full power. For "virtual zero noise" special situations, we charge batteries by idling the ultra-quiet Ford main engine (NOT diesel) that cannot be heard a few feet from it. Solar is OK of course for what it's practical for - but you cannot run A/C off it for comfortable all-temperature all-weather flexibility.
X2
I'll follow all the rules in whatever campground I happen to be in. If that means I can run my generator until 11:00 PM, then I will if I choose to. If it bothers you, I would suggest that you're the one in the wrong campground.

RE: Class C Generator

Have you driven the Freelander on the open road and been satisfied with the handling? I ask because some C's don't track real well. Contrast with the solid tracking of an HD pickup with a ton of fiver right on the rear axle. What's the wheelbase of the Freelander? If it hasn't been disclosed by Coachmen on a door jamb label or a piece of literature, you'll have to measure to find it. Our Jayco's been stretched to 218" but the chassis was deliverd by Ford at 158" so that's what shows on the label. On a 31' coach, the longer the better. Less might be OK but I'd like to see it in the 210" to 220" range. I think 223" is the max that Ford allows.
And what does this have to do with the generator?

Try versahaul.com. They are a bit overkill for your needs, but they are built for exactly what you need.
If you PM me I just might be able to give you some info on a lightly used versahaul that is no longer being used.

RE: Pellet Grill?

I don't have that brand of pellet grill, but I do have another brand. I have a Green Mountain Grill.
Pellet grills are not cheap, nor are most of them small enough to be portable.
As far as being a good grill, I love mine. It can be used for low and slow or regular grilling like a gas grill... with real wood flavor. Pellets aren't cheap either, but not much more expensive than charcoal. I buy pellets by the pallet, so it saves there too.

RE: Slow Cooker Recipes

Pot Roast is always good. Get a 3 to 4 lb chuck roast or 7 bone roast. Cut up some carrots into 3-4" lengths. Lay the carrots across the bottom of the crock pot. Lay the roast on top of the carrots. (if you can brown the outside of the roast first, all the better).
Sprinkle a pkg of onion soup mix over the roast. Quarter some small potatoes. Rough chop some onions. Toss in the pot. Add some water or beef stock.
Cook on high for 4-5 hours or low for 6-8 hours. Make gravy out of the drippins when you're done. Shred the beef. Serve over rice. Pour on the gravy.
Pretty easy to add whatever you like to this.

RE: Jalapeno Cooker Recipes

brown up some Jimmy Dean sausage and mix it with cream cheese. Stuff the peppers, then drape a 2" piece of bacon over the top and secure with a toothpick. Bake until the peppers are soft.
I use Jimmy Dean because it has a finer texture than some other sausage. I use the same stuffing for mushroom caps.
You can also mix almost any kind of meat with the cream cheese... pulled pork, chopped up little smokies, etc. Also mix in some shredded cheddar cheese in the stuffing. Or some BBQ Rub.
No rules. Experiment. You'll find something you like.
